noone got a reaction from Ben J. in Is it possible to put filters in between your camera and lens body?
    Well I'll be!
I destroyed the filter.     The edge was soft aluminium so was simple enough to file the edge off and have the glass just fine.
This is going to be fun.     The filter fits right in.    It might be a little loose but once you put a lens on it seems ok.      An EF-S lens doesn't seem to fit (probably for the same reason Canon FF cameras can not mount them).     That means my 18-55 APSC kit lens is out but my EF 100 f2 is ok (for fit at least).
Sticky tape would work well to hold the filter in too I think.
Amazing.     With my A7s and Fotga adapter I am getting auto focus indoors with a 750nm IR filter and can see easily in the EVF!
OP, This will easily take two filters (one inside, one on the lens front though if it is any good or not is another story.
Two snaps.    The filter glass sitting loose in the adapter and one taken with the lens and filter in place auto focused.
This calls for more 43mm filters for me!
Thanks for the thread, this will be fun (though add to more cost I can not afford).
As for the IR image, remember it is just a first snap in the excitement and is with AF at ISO 51200 and 1/15 with a 100mm lens at f2.
Have to check it with my 17 TS-E too!

YES! It works with my 17 f4 L TS-E.         I wont post any of the rubbish samples I just took but this is going to be a lot cheaper using a 43mm piece of filter glass instead of buying a 150mm IR filter to fit in my X-Pro filter holder.
Now I really have to see if anyone makes a 43mm circular apodization filter that works like an STF lens that I can use with my 100 f2.     There is a company that makes them I think but I am shuddering about the price.

    Damn Damn Damn!
My smallest filters are 43mm (for the filter drawer of my Tamron 300 2.8.) I have the original clear glass the lens came with and also a IR filter I got to experiment with.     I had to file the IR filter edges down to get it to fit.        IF I took the glass out of the IR filter, I think it would fit nicely in the Fotga circle.      Decisions decisions, do I destroy the filter to try this or do I keep it for mucking around with IR and 300 2.8!
    Let me think about it.

When this thing was announced it totally blew my mind.
And I have been wanting one ever since the first time I read about it.
If you don’t know what this is all about just think of it as a Speedbooster.
But instead of turning an APS-C into Full Frame it turns a Full Frame into a Medium Format Camera.
And as you may know, medium format in digital is pricy to say the least.

I will have more info and go deeper into this later on, this is just my first impressions.
Opened the box literally just a few hours ago.

Its very sturdy and all metal. It balances well after putting on a hefty lens.

The lens I tested tonight was a 80mm f4 Macro. I have others but wanted to see some closeups to check sharpness.
Its much sharper than I expected. Sharp enough I guess...
Also Ive seen no excessive vignette. Any vignette in the samples are added in post.
    I also added grain.
    Portrait of GP

    Closeup

    Selfie

    Closest Focus

    With vignette and grain.

    Without vignette, still grain.

You can't shoot everything wide open at f1.8 or less and expect to get much in focus. That is where the Sony A7s shines. He can shoot at f5.6 and get stuff in focus without worrying if he blew the whole thing focus wise. That is a hell of a great luxury to have as an option. MFT in a bar at night is not my idea of hog heaven, especially using a f1.2 lens. IBIS only helps you with motion blur, not lens focus. But true like you said you can shoot  lower ISO. But it's not like Sony doesn't have stabilized lenses.
What would really be nice if we had the money to have 4 or 5 camera systems. Nobody has the perfect camera, or if that was the case we would not need to be on here! I would not really like to use the A7s all the time in reality. The sucky battery life, limited recording time what like 12 minutes, no internal 4k, kind of on the small size, no IBIS on the first one, etc.

Actually, one thing.     If you need high ISOs, it doesn't mean the lighting sucks, it just means it is low.      I want to be able to take photos when I want, not just half the day.
I would hate to go to many shows or gigs or restaurants ETC where the light was bright.     It would destroy the atmosphere a lot of the time.
Having better high ISOs just means you can shoot longer or with faster shutter speeds.

Sometimes I can not go UNDER ISO 3200!
I had the luxury of a gig on Friday night that the highest I needed was ISO 8000.
6400 is nothing these days with the better FF cameras.       For M4/3 though it is currently a stop to far most of the time.

Well I, and probably everyone on here is not going to knock the output of a BMPCC, the buy of a lifetime in my book. But it has its limits. The Sony A7s is a FF camera that goes over 100,000 ISO I just don't think you can compare the two .
Hell not counting the A7s can do 4k with a external recorder. Yeah 8 bit, but we have been shooting 8b stuff for 20 years or more and it somehow has worked.

I have no clue in hell why people don't take advantage of newer cameras that can take still shots, video at high ISO's. People have been pissing and moaning about low light ability, and along comes a camera like the Sony A7s and they say well I am going to stay at a ISO a 10 year old camera they had did. What the hell!
It means you can have cheap LCD lights, hell use the light from your cell phone for that matter instead of 5,000 watt lights movie productions use. Use available light coming trough a window, a candle, the Moon, you get the point. A Sony A7s is a miracle and people don't take advantage of it, hmmm.

Three shots.      The first from 2005 with a IST*D at ISO 3200 (Adalita from Magic Dirt)
The next from 2011 at a festival I was shooting for with a Kx at ISO 3200 and the last from 2015 with a A7s at ISO 102400 (US rock band 10 years)..
I used a fast shutter speed for the A7s shot as the band is very fast moving and the light was also changing rapidly.
While not great, I think the A7s shot is far better than the IST*D shot.     These days I would likely delete that IST*D shot but back then some from that gig were used on their 2005 Warner album Snow White at small size in the collage.

I have shot several festivals, sometimes for the festival and sometimes you just have to take what light you get.
The A7s shot was in brighter light than the Magic Dirt shot but that is another advantage of better high ISOs - I can use much faster shutter speeds when I want.
I never even tried my Canon 7d for live music.    That camera was for other things.

I shoot live bands in whatever light is available to me and have done so with many cameras since film SLRs.
I can not change the location and I can not add light.
Each generation has gotten better and better but for me, the A7s is the camera I always wanted as it means I can use 5.6 or even f8 if I want to.    I just don't worry about ISO anymore.
I do use ISO 51200 and even higher from time to time (ISO 80,000 is fine for me often and sometimes 102400 is as well).     The bands, and odd newspaper have been happy to use some of my shots at 51200.
I use auto ISO and what I use depends on where I am aiming at and the light available.     I would prefer if it stayed at lower ISOs but sometimes, in some of the bars and pubs I shoot, there is just no choice.
With each camera I have used, I have had my limits.      Original A7 was 12800 with the odd shot a bit higher, Pentax Kx was ISO 6400, sometimes ISO 8000,  My GX7 (I have only used for live music on the odd occasion), I don't like over  3200 (6400 in a pinch).     Earlier DSLRs were a bit lower.      Film and ISO 3200 was mostly very grainy but I was restricted most of the time to using fast lenses.

A few years ago I shot in a club/bar that was lit by a couple of shaded table lamps.     I was using an APSC DSLR at the time and ended up with very few usable shots.     I would have loved to have an A7s there.    Many of my current venues are just pub corners and one is an outdoor beer garden with all gigs at night.
I mainly shoot stills but I use the same lenses with the same  auto ISO settings for video and have been very happy so far.

Sure the other cameras look better and I wouldn't want to use the GH5 at ISO 6400 anyway unless I had to.      I think for the A6500 I wouldn't want to use at ISO 12800 unless I had to but any of these cameras is not going to be at its best over ISO 3200 anyway.
GH5 seems like it will be a wonderful camera for video (regardless of sensor size) as long as you can control the light or keep it at lower ISOs.     It will also be a nice M4/3 stills camera with all the normal pluses and minuses the sensor size gives.
Maybe in a couple of generations, M4/3 will have the low light/high ISO that some want but just seems beyond M4/3s for now.

Gonna stick with my plan, save up the pennies and run with the Sony A7s in crop mode and eventually get a speedbooster when the budget allows.

    Keep your eye on Ebay.
Sometimes, especially at odd times like say a Friday after a Thursday holiday or other non normal times you might find a used A7s selling to Australia only with little competition.
I have had mine for a couple of years now but that is how I got mine.     It was actually sealed in box but was technically sold second hand and for a fair bit less than I otherwise would have had to pay.
I also have a GX7 that I really like but it has a few too many limitations for video for me.      Maximum ISO of 3200 for video and no mic or headphone jack being the biggest.
That said, I don't do a lot of video beyond recording the occasional song at rock/blues gigs and I am more often than not over ISO 3200 (sometimes way over) so the GX7 will never work for me for that nine times out of ten.
A7s is not the camera for everyone but I think it is worth every cent they go for.
EDIT    A quick check of Ebay Australia  sold listings has several first version A7s cameras having gone in the range of $1572 including postage to around 2100 or so but many of the higher priced ones have extras with them.     Plenty in the range 16-1800 range.    Some have lots of bids, some only two or three.
