after noones show and tell, i feel slightly inadequate đ my last acquisition for the takumar collection for quite awhile i hope is a pentax smc 17mm f4 m42.
This should round out the collection nicely and cover all my bases. After this a better tripod and head is on the agenda.

An important distinction. Any qualms about build quality should start and stop here. The Pocket Cinema Camera does feel very cheap, I will give @Coiii that much...but the URSA and specifically this model isnât a part of that family. I have personally never used an URSA myself but just by looking at them they seem to be a step or two above the Pocket line.

To steer us back on course, just on the QC issue.
I don't think the QC will be the same for a 1k pocket as it is for a 10k ursa. So any anecdotes about how someone's pocket failed just doesn't mean anything.Â
This ursa body has stayed relatively the same throughout several generations - it would make sense that they have ironed out the kink's in the manufacturing process by now, and what's more, because the body is the same, it means they were able to pass the cost-savings to the end-consumer.
If they are aiming for the top of the market, I doubt they would be stupid enough to sell an unreliable product and tarnish their name for good. Â

RED had a similar reputation not all that long ago. It takes a big innovative splash to make people change ships...once they do you have a chance to shake up the market. I think this camera will make enough RED users jump ship and then it all comes down to this specific camera and how good/reliable it is. Thereâs no reason to think this camera isnât how Blackmagic enters that conversation. None at all.

noone reacted to Andrew Reid in Olympus sells Imaging Business
The most amazing thing about that is it only has 120 views.
For a video with a topless model on the internet, that is a real surprise.
It is proof of why Olympus couldn't sell enough cameras.
They can't even promote tits on the internet.

noone reacted to BTM_Pix in Jared Polin doesn't get it - EOS R5 overheating
To be serious for a moment, the amount of abuse that @Andrew Reid took from the shills, bootlickers, click merchants, grudge bearers and other assorted snide gobshites portraying him as being some sort of deranged bitter outlier who "You can always count on to be negative" for basically reading Canon's own words out to them was pathetic but very informative.Â
I wouldn't hold out much hope of most of those people organising  an apology pile on with the same gusto they organised an abuse one because, of course, thats not how they (t)roll but at least they've shown their hand about who they really are.
I do hope it represents some sort of tipping point for the wider world in terms of the scales falling from their eyes about this sort of marketing though.
In particular, I hope that if the R5 and R6 issues are improved or mitigated at launch or during its life cycle that people remember that the fire (ho ho) that was lit under Canon's arse to address this wasn't sparked by sycophancy.

People are going to need a bitcoin scam to be able to buy all the cameras announced this month.

As an update I've decided to build a set from the Super Takumars and sell the Rokkors I've bought so far. The Rokkors have a lovely build quality, but it seems they don't have an option of a nice sharp 35mm - I got two different versions and both were unacceptable soft. The Taks, on the other hand, are beautifully built and render amazingly nicely. So far I've go the 28, 35, 50 1.4, 85 1.8 and 135 2.5 in my sweaty hands and am awaiting delivery of the 20 4.5 and the 200 4. Now I have to re-line one of my hard cases for them and set about getting focus gears made. I'm in 2 minds over de-clicking. A couple of these weren't cheap and I worry that de-clicking might hammer their resale value if I ever have to rake some funds back. Does anyone have any experience of that?
As soon as those last 2 arrive I'll shoot a test of all lenses on the same subject for the delectation of EOSHD members.

In an ad for Canon, all they could find to give the woman was a KONICA film camera?  They could not find a Canon one?

That Canon has put out a "media alert" now on this says it all.
All these times are based on a cold start at 23 degrees C (73f)Â
Seems a wonderful stills camera with some highly desirable video specs and when it CAN record better than anything but will be useless for what many would WANT to use it for.
It seems they want you to turn it off when not using it and have it in the shade with a fan on it in even mildly warm weather.
It will not be the "star" sitting on the chair under the umbrella being fanned by some assistant but the camera.

I was also waiting for the Viltrox trio on Fuji, but the first two get mixed reviews and all seem to suffer from CA, which is annoying for video and JPG shooting for me. Realised that the Fuji 27mm and 50mm are much better (and lighter) and f1.4 isn't essential.Â
Currently travelling, so want to stay lightweight. May just get an L39 mount Canon 50mm f1.4 or f1.5Â or Jupiter 50mm f1.5.
The improved lens on the Fuji X100V and 4K video and other new features makes it very very tempting. Not sure about the overheating issue though.

Surprisingly it is!
If they keep this up I'll unban DPR links here.
It's a bit like a country's border - if they open it to mine, I'll let theirs in.

A photo quality print at 300dpi at 12mp would be about 9x14 or 11x14 (depends on what site you go to) and at 250dpi and 200dpi and maybe even 150dpi much larger and still be ok
I have an (old) book by a well known photographer saying 10-12mp is good for 24x36 inches but the various sites with how large can you print charts typically say you can print a good quality print from 12mp at around 20x30.  I would not print that large (24x36 or 20x30) without upsizing from it but certainly have more than 4x6 and had larger than that in newspapers (at high isos too).
Again, I get that there is a perception 12mp is not enough for photos and that there ARE some users and uses that would find it not so good a fit but for the vast majority of photos taken is more than enough.

12mp is easily enough for printing âlargeâ.
What 12mp tends to lack is much post-cropping latitude.
As a working *cough* wedding photographer, 12mp wouldnât bother me in the slightest if it meant âbetterâ low light capability/quality and the rest of the spec was not compromised.

I think YouTube camera review videos shot on unusual cameras would be good.
Like an R5 review shot on a thermal imaging camera for example.
