Oh for Hobby. I am 71 years old. I retired a long time ago. I want nothing to do that involves work anymore LoL. Did that stuff for over 50 years. Thank god for legal drugs, ehh prescriptions.
I had a Panasonic AF100A and really sort of regretted selling it. Hard to not have a Cine camera for the convenience.they offer. I have worked with, and owned a lot of ENG cameras years ago. My A7s is really nice, but not great for my big hands. I am more of a tripod guy anyhow.  Running n Gunning Ain't in my vocabulary anymore! If i tried flying with a Gimbal I would fly alright, right off some cliff probably.

Here it is ! I just picked it up at Photocineshop in Paris  I was the first in queue, I called them monday, they told me they expected it mid october. But I received a call today telling me it's here so... They received only 3 cameras. They ordered 75 and have 60 in queue. Funny story, the guy at the counter told me the boss was mad at him because the boss wanted to keep the first ones for rent (it's also a big rental company) and not fulfilling the first orders ! I think I have the first retail version in France ( I know it's a lame sentence !)
I'll try to shoot something decent tomorrow and put it online the same day ! But I only have relatively fast SD cards. I just need to sell a kidney for a CFAST on which I'll be able to record 12 seconds of RAW footage :)))
I can't wait to test the dynamic range and the battery life of the camera, my two biggest concerns.

All of the following photos were shot with my Canon FD 85mm F1.2 from 1976 on the Fujifilm GFX 50S. Medium format at F1.2?! Yes, it works and no vignetting!
I am really interested in what Fuji is doing at the moment, but with the most interesting cameras at the show just a development announcement and dummy body-design, we'll have to wait a bit longer for them to truly reveal their cards.

This will be a short part 1, as I am about to get on my way from Berlin to Cologne to see all the new stuff at Photokina for myself! It's been a mammoth few weeks for camera announcements and these two top them all.
First from Panasonic we have the first ever full frame cameras to shoot 4K/60p, beating Sony to the punch. Their A7S III is STILL not yet announced. The Panasonic S1 and S1R are probably why! For video they beat every full frame camera past, present and future!
Second we have the Fujifilm GFX 100MP development announcement, which will be a 2019 $10,000 medium format mirrorless camera. They also have a cheaper 50R "rangefinder" style GFX body at the show ($4500) but that is 1080p only like the GFX 50S it's based on. It is the 100 megapixel one I am really interested in.

I know for me right now, Im having a hard time trying to figure out the balance of being true and honest, with also receiving demo units. Getting the demo units means I get early access to stuff to help me grow my audience more on YouTube. But when I receive early access products, they expect a good review. If I make a review that maybe would hurt the company, then they don't want to work with me anymore, therefore I don't get early access meaning I don't get to build the largest audience. 

It's a Catch-22 I am finding.

Strange indeed. I don't really see a point to upgrade to this if you own the mk1, but then again if you are going to upgrade from an fs5 you're probably going to move up to an fs7 or something similar.

It was the default setting on the camera, UHD 4K instead of DCI 4K, all of them are ISO 3200.
They didn't tape the card slot, so...

Trust me, I have my hands on some ProRes and DNG materials from the camera (acquired from NAB), it's clean af up to about 6400. Noise pattern is very pleasant fine grain, due to lack of compression obviously. The sensor is confirmed to be IMX294CJK, it's the STARVIS line from Sony Semicon with BSI design, originally intended for low light surveillance.

Not missing anything, your assumption is correct. 
I will admit that this is the strangest new camera release that I have ever seen. Even Canon would not pull something like this. 
The PXW-Z280 on the other hand is the most interesting having 3 EXMOR-R sensors and records 4K 60p 10-bit and XAVC-I. But at $7K it is by far the most expensive "handycam" that I know about. 

Funny how it took them 30 seconds to announce the ¨new¨ camera and go through the features. Kinda disappointing, although good that they are pushing for better colours.
Why couldn't they just add the new colour science via a firmware upgrade to the old model or am I missing something else here?

Unless it costs $4750 for a firmware update....

I'm with you that technology has changed a lot since the last Pocket.
However the main reason I liked the original Pocket was down to the charm, the mojo, the classic look - 99% of cameras with IBIS, great low light, HFR are still being beat by the original Pocket in this regard. 
Also you have to remember that this camera is for cinematic application, and is designed to be used as such. Not really the type of camera to run and gun with in a cave lit only by glow flies! 
As an affordable, S16, cinematic device - everything to me sounds good so far.
Bit concerned about this external stuff though and hope it's perfectly manageable in the hands.

I don't mind the looks either and the grip looks pretty comfortable.
Keep in mind that it could be that 4k 60p raw is external only and 4k raw up to 30p might still be internal. If there is no internal raw at all it would be weird considering all other BM cameras have it and are kind of known for it in a way.
