Try this 139 year old lens up against your modern junk.

Nikon need to get "new products"(whatever they may be)available before XMas to boost the current financial year. They have only released one body in the last twelve months the D850 is just too expensive for a lot of photographers. Based on figures from two or three years ago aprox 80% of their camera sales were APS-C,something that Canon doesn't over look with a full range of APS-C bodies down to the very cheap !.
-
Thom Hogan has been saying two entry level mirrorless APS-C bodies in the US $500-$1000 bracket to be announced in the next few months followed by a full frame around US $2,000 four or five months later.D5600 is already due for update perhaps it is the last of the D5000 series ??
-
There is also the complication of AF lenses (1986-98) have a screw drive which connects to the focus motor in the camera. Will they keep this system going for mirror less ???? The low end Nikon bodies D3000 and D5000 series have never had this screw drive thereby limiting autofocus to modern lenses with their own built in focus motor.

The bearded Kiwi may find this one interesting for the soundtrack

Canon FD was introduced in March 1971 so FD lenses from the 1960s would be collectors items !!!

Richard is updating his lenses from the "Apogee " series.(Dog Schidt Optiks) We're currently working on our new CLAVIUS lenses (available March 2018) which is a significant upgrade to our previous APOGEE series. An outline of the changes is as follows:- Extra rugged construction Internal focus Reduced breathing, no extension during focusing, improved dust sealing, smoother focus action Geared aperture ring Relocated focus ring for extra camera body clearance Larger witness marks for easier focus pulling Same vintage optics http://www.richardgaleoptics.uk/clavius-lenses/apogee-lens-set-28mm-38mm-58mm-88mm

Many you"tubers" have this problem, ten minutes of "talking head"to say something that could have been summirized in 60 seconds. -
Under 2 kgs is enough for me !! Even the camera Kubrick loved because it was so portable weighs around 7.7 kgs -17 pounds with 200 feet of film,an Arriflex 35 IIC.
-
I have just been watching "The making of Dunkirk" and here is a pic of the IMAX shoulder rig it only weighs 54 pounds- about 24 kgs. Has anyone seen the film in an IMAX theatre ?

Nikon must have something coming as the last new body was announced eight months ago -D850.There is also the story that their new mirrorless will be released in their 100 th year

One guy wanted a discount on a new camera if they would disable the video features !

Fujifilm have been making broadcast and cine zooms for over fifty years with an associated customer base for these lenses ,they are not exactly "green" to this field.Perhaps some strange Japanese business practice that the broadcast lens department has little to do with developing video features with their camera designs. I agree that the progress they have made in video features for their cameras in the last two years is commendable . https://www.fujifilm.eu/eu/products/optical-devices/hdtv-lenses/history

It's easy to see how the footage can quickly clock up using multiple cameras to shot each scene, there are also some directors like Fincher and Kubrick that may do fifty or more takes per scene ! http://www.indiewire.com/2013/10/producer-says-david-fincher-is-averaging-50-takes-per-scene-shooting-gone-girl-248969/
