IronFilm reacted to Brother in There is a new 4K Panasonic camera coming at NAB
Newsshooter interview with Ryan Avery from Veydra about their new lenses: https://vimeo.com/124786321 01:20 he says that their new anamorphic lens is for the GH4 and "the new panasonic camera"
So, hopefully no fixed lens

Hopefully the cam is so good that this is an appropriate reaction.
I wouldn't mind an AF100-style body, just a bit slimmer. And I hope they make it easy to match to my GH4.

IronFilm reacted to richg101 in Canon 5D Mark IV rumors
Their Cinema EOS range has pretty much killed all hope of the 5dmk4 being anything more than a bombproof stills camera with a below par video function. Unless ML get hold of it before launch and remove all the crippling features canon include in the firmware.

IronFilm reacted to wernst in Canon XC10 4K camcorder
I could not imagine that Canon consistently drives the mediocrity.
Yes, they can.
1“ sensor, fixed f2.8-5.6,
64 GB CFast 2.0 for 4k ~ 300,- € !! (64 GB SDXC 10/3 for 4k in GH4 ~ 35 €)
No EVF, touch screen is nice, but it’s not usable when loupe is mounted to it
2.500 $??!! Get a GH4 with 2.8/12-35 instead and you'll have the real thing.
I understand better what Canon‘s branding effort means:
“Canon See Impossible” - We see that it is impossible to catch up with competition

IronFilm reacted to johnnymossville in Canon 5D Mark IV rumors
The way I see it, in today's world with so many other options, there's very little reason to have a video shooting camera without an EVF and titling screen. The 5DMIV probably won't have either, and probably won't have 4k as well.
Canon needs a Super 35 sensor mirrorless camera with EVF and 4k. This is the camera people need, and it won't step on their Full Frame DSLRs, but will kill them for 4k Video.

IronFilm reacted to johnnymossville in Your realistic hopes for NAB?
1. I want to see the new Panasonic AF100 successor, and have it share the same color profiles with the GH4 firmware update.
2. Would like to see something new in small/lightweight travel tripods with a fluid head.
3. some new handheld gimbals to replace a steadicam, useful for small DSLR's

IronFilm reacted to ntblowz in Adobe updates - Still no H265
Powerdirector from Cyberlink already support native H.265 editing, can't really see why Adobe can't.

IronFilm got a reaction from Geoff CB in Adobe updates - Still no H265
The new Premiere has an option to export as H.265, still unknown as to if editing in it is happening or not.

IronFilm got a reaction from Liam in Canon XC10 4K camcorder
At the sky high price of the XC10 I'd rather spend a little more and get an old second hand C100 and glue a 24-105mm f/4 to it.
But yeah..... not going to do that either. Instead seriously looking at the Samsung NX1, but waiting to see what NAB brings.

IronFilm reacted to k-robert in Canon XC10 4K camcorder
I think, Canon's success with the C models and DSLR-s, especially in the rental-business, is due to the huge amount of quality Canon lenses being around.
Exactly this benefit is non-existent by this model, with the fixed lens.
Personally, I would only buy a fixed-lens camera, if the lens is very good, as it could never be changed.
In this "category" I am waiting/hoping for the RX20 with a 2,8 lens, capable 4K with a reasonable codec.

IronFilm reacted to Oliver Daniel in Canon XC10 4K camcorder
I don't usually judge cameras before using them but considering the competition, this camera seems like the flop of the decade.
Who do Canon go to for design feedback? Design should be influenced by demand, or spontaneous innovation. Don't see it here.

IronFilm got a reaction from Jimmy in Canon's GH4 "Competitor"
Jimmy, the XC10 has ND but..... only ONE setting :-/

IronFilm reacted to Jimmy in Canon's GH4 "Competitor"
Here's the thing though John... I was invested in Canon, both camera and glass.... Then Sony bought out the FS700 and it ticked more of my boxes, so I sold up and moved on. I have since moved on yet again.... I wont cry that Canon or Sony didn;t constantly meet my ever changing needs... I just move to whoever does, say in the knowledge that my needs are not the same as the next man.
Canon glass fits everything, so I don't see the issue with moving to another platform. Then if Canon do make your dream camera, move back.
and when I said "These things" I meant canon having an attempt at a niche market... why knock it, choice is great.

IronFilm reacted to Andrew Reid in Canon XC10 4K camcorder
So what if it edges out the RX10? That concept is 2 years old and sells for less than $1000.
This is supposed to be a cutting edge 2015 Cinema EOS camera for $2500!

IronFilm got a reaction from Julian in rumors: NX1-LX
Classic case of salespeople talking utter BULLSH*T! Which I put down to 95% them simply wanting to make a sale at any cost, and 5% due to being utterly clueless and out of touch.
As seriously come on... do you really believe the 16-50mm f/2-2.8 (which sells for merely a little bit more than US$1k) could perfectly cover FF too?

IronFilm reacted to ziggy123 in rumors: NX1-LX
Policar - I'm perfectly ok with Samsung's Lens line as I am NOT invested in the Giant sleeping "Canon" or Sony (Indeed SOny is better than Canon in innovation).
Providing a camera that can get close to RED's results that introduces /utilizes the H.265 where footage takes a 5th of space, still photography and AF is close to excellent - at a sub $1.5k price is indeed a revolution (Referring to the NX1)
Why woul'd I buy a RED for what $10K not including the storage needed and lenses ? We can all argue on ISO and DR performance - but from what Ive seen - unless youyre trying to shoot at 1lux - the NX1 does a fine job. At 800-1600 ISO I could not see a major diffeence between the NX1 and the high end cameras.
So if I can shoot a theatrical film using NX1 - I will - at the end of the day 80% of the result is dependant on the DP's knowledge and even MORE important in the story/substance behind the film.
That being said - would have loved to see 4:2:2 recording internally and at least 10-bit so Green Screen work would be optimal - though I have seen some amazing results in 4K 8-bit and even 4:2:0 pulling a clean key.
Policar - I'm assuming you are on the still photography side of things and video is not your primary concern?

IronFilm reacted to Marco Tecno in rumors: NX1-LX
Eric (a guy posting on dpr) did some tests on the lenses, and those resulted in the lenses covering at most an aps-h sensor size.

What other 4k s35 camera is there in the price range that can use native mount as well as M39, MD, AR, m42, ef, Nikon and so on, because I would love to buy it.
-
IronFilm reacted to ziggy123 in rumors: NX1-LX
True indeed. Looking at the specs of the earlier versions of RED camera I was surprized to see the sensor was only 14MP - I believe the new one (Dragon Epic Camera) is 19MP - now I understand why Samsung wants to drop the Sensor resolution from 28MP to 20MP as you can gain much higher DR and fps by using less computing power.
I wonder to how mch f-stops that would translate to (I think Red claims up to 18 stops using HDRx? - not sure what HDRx is :))
It feels however that Samsung is creating a revolution just as RED did when it took Prices of High End 2K/4K cameras to a 10th of the price - exciting times no doubt
Cheers

IronFilm reacted to cjwilliams0013 in Samsung nx1 Price Drop
Even if they do come out with the LX, its not like the NX1 is a bad camera and I can't see Samsung isolate or drop off their firmware updates with the product and create an issue with many people moving to Samsung for video and not getting support.

IronFilm reacted to Simon Shasha in Tempted? Should you get a $6499 Canon C300 or wait until after NAB?
Very serious. I've never had a problem with aliasing and moire on my BMPCC.

Two things I really want......
* Blackmagic Pocket Camera in 4k with at least 48fps in 1080p, even if it's only 30 second bursts it would be greatly appreciated
*Sony A7s II incorporating new in body stabilization + tweaks over their first camera
