Just an FYI, the color you get from setting the camera to video out / s-log PP is much more accurate colorwise than locking the camera to S-Log out with no profile.
The difference is very obvious in the greens. It is a lot closer to the FS7 in a bad way. A member on DVX User tipped me off to this. Clearly this is a flaw because the two profiles shouldn't be different.
Interesting! I need to test this out.

I always enjoyed the a5100 when I had it and it has touchscreen PDAF for less than $400.
I got the a5100 on sale years ago.
Am very surprised at how little if any it has dropped in price since then.
Perhaps linked to the fact there has never been an a5100 successor.

Rhode NT2 (I think, not sure $).
Would be a Rode NTG2, not a "Rhode NT2".

If you want a cheap MFT camera consider secondhand GH1, or GX1 if he might like that body shape instead (& a bit better sensor).
If exclusively focused mainly on stills then Nikon D7000 or Nikon D5200 (depending on if preferring the body ergonomics/features of the newer sensor).

If you want true wireless, you'd need to spend much much more.
Other option is be wired to them, but that is a pain in the arse.

I've never seen it this cheap before.
Is the best option for "wireless" if you can't afford wireless.

So like post number three from this thread?
I've been distracted by other things!
Away from Auckland this week on a shoot.

From the visual perspective, was reviewing some clips last night if the day's shooting and it looked beautiful.

Is not just pre amps, in every way the F4 is going to be better. At only $200 more the F4 is a bargain
-
Fuzzynormal, they're probably also shooting with all their lights off too and expecting a brightly lit scene to come out.
The reality is even an old and cheap Nikon D5200 should do well enough in 90% of people's usual "lowlight" scenes if handled right.

Awesome. Please good video DPAF and I AM IN. Only thing missing in the GH5 for me.
Then it's gonna be GH5s / A7SIII battle with the A7SIII being a full frame GH5. But honestly for video, sensor size above M43 do not make as much as a difference for my use like in photo.
a7S mk3 will not have all the GH5 specs/features but with a FF sensor.
I'll eat my hat if it does.

Luke, are these frame crabs from the ***** **** ?
I only just realised that is the right number of asterisks for "LUMIX GH5S"
8 hours ago, mercer said:I am by no means an expert on this but don’t you only need 8mp for 4K Video? So a 12mp sensor would be more than enough for good 4K Video while also making it easier to downsample the 6K to 4K in camera for a clean 4K image free of artifacts? Isn’t that why the a7s has near perfect 1080p?
With that being said, I believe the rumor states that the mystery camera will be geared towards high end video, so it’s quite possible that it is a S35mm sensor with an EF mount. Since the EVA1 has an EF mount and there seems to be a whole in their product line... then a $3500 S35mm 12mp GH5s could fill that gap.
Oh god no, please not another EF mount!

Wonder is it a pre-strike against A7SIII which is still no where to be seen or heard
Nah, even the current GH5 I bet will be better than the future a7S mk3
GH5 will keep the edge of at least one of these over the future a7S: waveforms, full size HDMI, 4K 60fps, 10bit internal.

Not sure whether this is just a Black Friday deal or not, but it’s come to my attention that the 7” Ninja Flame, pretty much an Inferno without 4K 60p capability, has been marked down to just $595, a huge savings over the Inferno and putting it up against the Focus.
WHOA!! That is only a hundred bucks more than I paid for my Atomos Samurai Blade (& that itself had just had a massive price drop! One of the key points that helped sway me towards a F3).

Looks like that is not all their shotguns, just all with a 3.5mm connector.
-
I don't bother really with 60fps, but I think hitting the S&Q button will help speed that up for you?

So you have been using the 422 mostly and being satisfied with it?
Either that or even just the internal recording, such as yesterday when filming a conference all day long as the quality didn't matter that much.

10,000% agreed!
& so we keep on waiting for an AF100 successor to complement the GH5....

Fingers crossed for a new Panasonic EVA1 MFT! ;-)

Perhaps secondhand Lectrosonics SRb with 2x LMa? I've got my eye on a SRb next.
Really depends on what "best bang for buck" means, as everyone's "buck" is different. There is a "best bang for bucks" at each price bracket.
