Dude you made a feature film how many people can say that NOT many Nobody likes their work name me one artist director that loves his films or art and say Shit man i am good this is good
No for some HARD CANDY LOVE stop bitching and moaning you wont get any sympathy from me and go have fun by making short films and stop thinking that one day you will be some bog movie director. You think all those directors you mentioned started because they wanted to be big and important at the beginning NO they do what they love. Keep doing what you love and if one day you make it then more power to you my philosophy is if i don't like it if it is giving me stress i don't do it.

PS I was in a war 4 years at age 14 (Bosnia) lost 2 brother and father to that war escaped to Croatia over the mountain took me 3 weeks  to travel 230k almost got killed in doing it, from there went to Pakistan for 2 years as refugee almost got raped in one of the refugee camps, come to Canada with red cross was homeless for 6 months in Toronto barely spoke any English lived from shelter to shelter could not get work thanks to my English took me 3 months to get welfare got my education went to collage for graphic design and film All that was 15 years ago do i make films NO do i work as Graphics designer NO I fabricate kitchens in a small town make good money have a beautiful family my own place nice SUV car there is clean water coming from my tap i have electricity and this film staff i do it as hobby and threat it as professional hobby why because it makes me happy

But i am the happiest when i take my 2 kids to the park every day watching them play while i sip my coffee what i am tying to say don't over think just do what makes you happy if you make it then good
I don't know it any of this makes any sense

Hi guys just wanted to share my mac pro upgrade DIY style. I wanted to build new power PC for resolve and rendering but i was thinking why spend 4k when i can just upgrade my mac pro with a bit of modification. i have Radeon 5770 for monitors and gtx 770 4gb and 550ti for resolve and premiere and any other application that needs it In few months i will add 6core 3.4 cpu and 32 gb memory and another gtx 770 4gb to replace 550. Some people might say oh no what did you do to mac but i really don't care about look only that it can do the job and its under my table where i don't see it at all. I have power supply powering 770 and have relocated my HD where DVD use to be i have used DVD sata connection to power the HD there is one more sata connection for another HD and on top of that i can run extension sata for another 2 HD from the free bays

    That is it Thanks

Hi guys there is much talk about camera gear but what i don't hear is monitor or what we use, which is as important or even more when it comes to final output. What i learned so far properly calibrated monitor is critical for color correction of our short films, music videos or what ever even for web. I know that dedicated color monitor are expensive ranging from $4000 like FSI monitors to Dolby PRM-4220 40 to 50k. I can be technology junkie and properly calibrated monitor is really important to me, i have Dell Ultra sharp u2410 10 bit ccfl for the past few days i have been trying to calibrate this monitor as close to REC 709 for HD and color correcting as possible and so far results have been really good you can only calibrate this monitor in standard mode since custom mode is broken and does not give you accurate colors, but problem with standard mode it does not give you access to RGB controls which is really important. There is way around this by accessing those controls via factory settings which is awesome. I have dispcalGUI and Argyll Color Management System which is free and i1 display pro from xrite. After calibrating to Rec 709 color space i was thinking is my monitor really calibrated or close to it. Answer is YES i used free trail of Calman Studio color checker Analysis to see if my monitor is calibrated properly to REC709 and to my surprise my colors measurement  points in Delta E2000 chart are well below acceptable requirements in CIE1976 chart color looking triangle my premieres green, blue and red all fall in to that square which is a target for REC 709 if it is outside of triangle then its a problem also dots in side a square are color checker points and as you can see they all fall within the square or acceptable range The Green buttons in image My avg delta E is 1 where pro monitor is hitting 0.8 and my Max delta e is 1.9 where pro monitor is 1.7
I have provided 2 images one is my Dell calibrated and other one is LG flatron if you compare images you can see deltae2000 are way off and CIE1976 chart color is all over the place i have calibrated both monitor 4 times and result is the same dell monitor can be bought now for 300 dollars where i paid 600. Stay withing 24 inch because anything bigger color tend to shift since there is more real estate space Most of the pro monitors like FSI are 24 inch and below except Dolby PRM-4220 40 inch but at 40k you also get dolby technician to cone after 3000 hours to calibrate it which is not cheap
Again i am not a pro but to me my colors specially in resolve color looks so good, blacks are black and not gray
    Thanks guys

to quote policar -Fwiw, 709 and sRGB have about the same chromaticities and i have rec 709 option so i just do it hopping its some what accurate

HP dream color is nice  but even that monitor you need additional hardware to get full use of dramcolor engine  to get 10 bit and rec 709 working and if you are on OSX you are out of luck since osx does not output 10 bit unless more money is spend for additional hardware . the only way of calibrating these (cheaper) screens is to use a large calibration 3D LUT (cLUT) First option is to get external LUT box (for 1080p signal the eeColor is fantastic - there is no 4K LUT box yet) - lots of peeps use the eeColor with the HP DC since it's 1080p only if u want to calibrate a 4K screen or don't want to spend money on an external LUT box, then you could use a 3D cLUT within Resolve that then outputs a specific color corrected signal from Resolve to your screen, best solution for this appraoch is Lightspace for Resolve Light or Lighspace for Resolve Full this is would give u the best color performance u can get from these screens, obviously that will not cure screen uniformity issues, LCD backlight contamination, viewing angle etc... that is what it is with cheaper hardware of course an alternative to all of this is to buy a screen that has internal 3D LUT storage capabilities such as Eizo, FSI, TVLogic etc. So basicly what i am saying is MORE MONEYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

There is no cheap solution not even 2000 dollar solution i been researching this to death for few months only way without pro monitor is to use  Light Space CMS integration with Resolve this will get you relllyyyyyy close but software alone is 1500 then you need a probe another 200 to 500 and a nicer monitor with 10 billions + color and eternal monitor lut not video card one. Or you can spend 1500 to 2000 getting one of plasma tV that was used as client monitor in a studio, but as i said again even after 4 years they can still be 1000 to 2000 dollars since its really accurate color but even then you will need to out put the signal another 200 to 1000 for kona card our black magic mini card.
What i did was get dell u2410 monitor with xrite pro probe and dispalGUI calibrate to REC 709 do i get close not really but close enough for me.
But again there no cheap solutions because technology is to expensive to be cheap
