selecting a suitable helicoid (you can get various units with various diameters and focus throws on ebay) is a great start.  grab one that will allow you to fit the front element into it, - maybe with some step rings + nd filter rings with the glass removed to mount the glass.  then attach it to the front of the b+h.  I successfully did this and its a great mod.  i get focus from inf to around 3ft in around 90degres.  its nt a razor sharp lens, but almost gives full coverage wit ha 58mm on aps-c.  a 58mm and a gh2/3/4 will deliver great things.  lovely flare and character.

Julian reacted to Brian Caldwell in Hands on with the new Metabones Speed Booster Ultra - fast AF with Canon lenses on Micro Four Thirds
The m43 ULTRA version is for all intents and purposes optically perfect over the entire m43 format.  It's intended as a general-purpose Speed Booster for both stills and video shooters, and it replaces the original m43 Speed Booster.  As a general-purpose Speed Booster, the ULTRA can be mounted and used with all m43 cameras.
The XL version is more specialized, and gives the maximum possible focal length reduction for video shooters using the GH4 and a limited set of additional m43 cameras.  Performance is extremely good, but is not as good in the extreme corners of fullframe m43 as the ULTRA.

Anyway, with the kowa and the slr rangefinder around ,who knows how high bidding on a compromised iscorama will end.

So happy to find out about this. It also added autofocus to existing adapters. Here it is on my Speed Booster S (Canon to Micro four thirds). Canon 17-55mm F/2.8 on a Panasonic GH4.

    Hi Julian:
The 0.71x SB ULTRA is intended as a true general-purpose Speed Booster for m43.  The 0.64x XL is a more specialized item tailored for the GH4 and a few other cameras, particularly for the higher crop factor in 4k.  The ULTRA has incredible optical performance all the way across the field, as you can see from the MTF curves.
BTW, the Speed Booster XL and all other m43 Speed Boosters for the Canon-EF lens mount can be upgraded to autofocus by means of a firmware download.  So if you like the XL and want autofocus you can have it.

Interesting topic/subject, but why only highlight the 'bad' example?
I agree a travel video is usually better when it consists of more than a collection of beautiful land/cityscapes. Usually I like road trip videos better, even if their production value might not be as awesome as some of the travel videos.
    Some examples I like:
This is just a guy travelling with some friends, a GH4 + 12-35mm 2.8 and a DJI Phantom 2. Simple, but great atmosphere:

Simple action cam footage, but nothing gets me more into the travel mood than a video like this. And for some reason it makes me want to buy a Nikon

These are like new, barely touched. These pair nicely with either of SLR Magic's Anamorphots (2x or 1.33x) to allow closer focus. The set sells for $300 new and I'd like to knock fifty bucks off that and sell it for $250 shipped to anywhere in the USA. Comes with original case. Payment via PayPal preferred.

Well for a start a Kowa is $300-400, and the Iscorama is 10x that at $3000+
    That is a reason.
Also the Kowa is sharper at fast apertures than the Iscorama and vignettes a bit less so you can go slightly wider.
Flare on the Kowa is better than on the multicoated (MC) Iscoramas. Quite evenly matched vs single coated Iscoramas.
The only thing holding it back was the shit focus. Unusable.
Iscorama acted like a normal manual focus prime lens.
But still the Iscorama isn't as easy to focus as a normal lens. Usually the ring is a bit too stiff and travel is way too long for quick focus changes and run & gun. No gearing for follow focus either.
A Kowa with Rangefinder should beat the Iscorama for focus AND match it for image quality... I am about to shoot with it so will find out as despite Van Diemen taking away one of my Iscoramas for what seems like a million years now, I still have my other Iscorama 36 MC to play with.

This is the first thing I shot with the Rangefinder. Just a simple rack focus followed by a look at the effect it has on the flares (adds more blue basically). The focus mechanism is very, very smooth. This is paired with the Kowa B&H. I'll try it out on the SLR Magic Anamorphot tomorrow.

It's offensive to ask $899,99 for this kit of crap.

    Why wait...
I think it's likely Sony will release the A7000 earlier than October. Pretty sure it will get 4K and S-Log (even the compacts have it, so Sony won't hold it back from any future camera).
And then the rumors about V-Log being a paid upgrade... I wouldn't be happy with that, as a GH4 owner.

No sorry you miss the point of the article!
    I own a 70D!
I am not laughing at people who use the cameras in the bundle deal... I am laughing satirically at the kind of people who might fall for the pathetic marketing ploy of an old camera in a new box with a very basic mic.

The real irony seems to be a bit lost on you. But let's address your made up irony first...
I have not "sacrificed" raw, 10bit, 422, colour science and other aspects merely for resolution.
I still treat the image as a visual whole and not a mere number.
I have shot with the Digital Bolex - lovely raw and tip top colour... I have shot with Blackmagic for 10bit ProRes and of course 5D Mark III raw, and could go back to any one of them any time I please... in fact it would make my life a lot easier not having to cover all these cutting edge new cameras that just so happen to be 4K, for ungrateful bastards like you....
But I don't and that is because the current 4K cameras look lovely.
14bit Raw or 10bit 422 and the best colour science is a spec like any other... and it is rather overrated itself.
For example the highlight roll off is smoother in 8bit SLOG on the A7S compared to 14bit raw on the 5D3 - go and figure.
Indeed I prefer the 8bit 422 LOG image from the 1D C to Blackmagic's 12bit raw for colour. Again, go figure...
Hands down my favourite image at the moment is the Canon 1D C so I am not a brainless 'Canon basher'.
Those you will have followed EOSHD for a while or those in the know will get the satire... others won't... If you don't get it, then hopefully it will tweak your interest in the current state of play enough to research into the subject a bit more.

This isn't a very good idea if you want good audio for interviews.  You need to get that mic in close even if it's a directional mic.
Griffin on Indy Mogul had a smart solution with an arm coming of his shoulder rig with a shotgun.
Best way is to tripod the camera and have the zoom in your hand, text book reporter setup.
    Sugest watching this,
