People don't shoot movies full frame, well very few its not the norm  , super 35 /apsc is standard all those loveley cinema  lenses won't work full frame , plus I really don't like the full frame look on movies , I'm used to guaging all my focal lengths relative to super 35 .
So this new camera in apsc is a bonus !

For me super 35 sensor/apsc  at about f2 looks cinematic , the dof is usable yet still shallow enough to have a filmic look , beyond f2 the dof is insanely narrow , at 1.4 pulling focus on a moving person is insane , now go to full frame at say 1.4 its totally unreal look wise micro thin dof and unusable for me . thats just my opinion , there have been movies shot on fullframe canon 5ds like Act of Valor and they were down at 5.6 to try get a usable dof approximating super 35 ....and at 5.6 you are not in the sweet spot of the lens at all for me , I like to shoot fully wide open or one stop down , in that range you can make lenses do magical things ....at 5.6 you can't they loose all the character!!

The two cinema zooms are on their roadmap in X mount for later in the year and it would be a bit of a stretch to think they see them being mounted to XT-2s so a cinema camera would make sense.
If it is a more pro version of the XT-2 primarily for still shooters then they've still got some way to go to break Nikon and Canon's hold certainly in my area of shooting sport.
I've been doing field testing of the XT-2 this week at the World Snowboard And Freestyle Skiing Championships and at a La Liga football match shooting for live agency distribution alongside my Nikon kit and its just not there yet.
The image quality is good enough (at 6400 in the football stadium it surprised me with how clean it was) but the handling just isn't up to it. I got used to the EVF blanking but it never gave me much confidence that my timing was right. And it generally wasn't so the ratio of Nikon to Fuji shots that made it from the memory card to the newswire was about 20:1. For the football match it was even less as it inspired such little confidence that it was swapped out for another Nikon at half time.
Battery life (especially covering the winter sports) was poor and all of this is also turning a blind eye to the lack of long primes. Which all adds up to me being the only one out of 60 odd photographers at both events mad enough to be trying mirrorless out!
It has its place though because not everything is shot on a 400mm 2.8 so I'll be persevering with it again for the closing weekend of the championships.
The roadmap shows that longer primes are coming late next year so, again, that would give more credence to this new one being cinema oriented.

That's because the sensor in the G7 is very very good , its not the same sensor that's in the gh4 , its a totally new design sensor and its also amazing in low light very very little visable noise, the g7 is a superb camera I shot a feature film with 6 of them last year.

Thats what i heard, but from what ive read the gx7 seems a little better in low light (usable at 1600 rather than 800) and the colours may have been better too (gh4 users seem to have often reported a dead, yellowish tint to skin). I had the G6 too and felt the gx7 sensor was significantly better
@mercer i mean.. the video isnt well done at all but the places were pretty cool Here

Yes, Andy, I remember your post about your movie "Pandora" and your super cool screenshots! That post was awesome with great lens recommendations, as we know it from you:), and cool BTS! You wanna tease us with some teaser footage?
BTW, I had a question for you in the lens thread two days ago, if you wanna check
    cheers and thanks!
from my experience gx80 has weaker HD than G6, less resolution and more moire.
G7 I cannot tell from my own experience, as it was not my test video.
And I haven´t tested my newly bought G7 yet.
Asking you guys. How is the HD on the G7? The youtube video I posted, seems to show obvious improvements.
Inazuma, didnt you post a video of the GX7 in the yard of spooky soul asylum place? That was a cool video. That GX7 for sure had some serious mojo going.
From the videos on vimeo to me it seems it has the best HD of all Lumix interchangeable cameras. Of course it should sooner
break apart under certain conditions than GH4 footage with the 100/200mbit codec. So maybe was a GX7 in the Alexa body for the Revenant

    hey guys,
since I just I´ve just got a G7 this weekend for the nice ergos, screen, EVF and for checking out the Cine profiles, I was wondering about its HD resolution.
This test suggests it´s better than G6, which would be pretty awesome.  My GX80 seems of lower HD resolution
than my G6 to me. Pretty nice test this guy did. So in HD G7 seems to have better resolution than G6, which, to
my own superficial testing, has better resolution than GX80 again.
Any findings on that from you guys´ side?

I shoot both , it depends on the job , my handheld footage is on a shoulder rig and I add lead weights to the back to make it as heavy as possible so no micro gitter -tearing of frames - which I hate , I like smooth hand held not Jason Bourne /Paul Greengrass /Oliver Woods hand held wobble cam which can be a bit much on certain jobs .

I'm sure they will , the Arri became industry standard due to the look , work flow and ease of use , with Codex Vault you are a great work flow from set to edit , so a 2.5 K camera with less resolution than some of the cameras here on this forum produced cinematic images in the right cinematographers hands , so resolution and 4k are not essential , its the lenses lighting composition and story ...is it entertaining ! That makes it cinematic . anyone on this forum can produce wonderful cinematic images with a bit of care and thought

For me its all about the lenses and the lighting , lens focal length choose for the scene and also they type of lenses you use gives the cinematic look I run 24p and as flat a color profile as I can , but the camera is not making it cinematic it's the lenses - using selective focus and depth of field to draw your eyes to the subject in the fame is standard cinematic style film making , just get any 4 back issues of American Cinematographer from the past five years read them and you will see a pattern emerging of lens choice and lighting that define the cinematic look and you will see its the  cinematographers craft that make it cinematic not the camera .

    Hallo @andy lee!
Because off you I got a Panasonic G6 and GX80 now. Latter one has beautiful tactile feel, though it´s a about 0.5 - 1inch
to small in height and width for my hands.
G6 has very nice HD, better than GX80 I would state. And bought a G70 last week- to me the perfect ergos for a photo/video hypbrid, but not
the same beautiful tactile feel of the GX80. So because off you I got three Lumix cameras now. I think you "owe" me now some great
pleasure of seeing more screenshots of you film "Pandora". Even better some teaser footage!
Everyone of us wants to see you Nikon 28-70-200 lenses in action with the cool Lumix G7/70 cameras!
Of course you don´t owe me anything. It would be the other way around
    cheers
    Hey Jonpais!
Beautiful colors. Fuji comes first but around 50 sec I thought G85 looked just as good as Fuji! 1.27, beautiful! But you´re right, Fuji mojo seems
    hard to beat.

The panny 14mm is as lens I use a lot especially on steadycam rigs for walking shots and for wide establishing street shots too, its pin sharp aspheric so I'm looking forward to getting the 12mm it will be useful extra wide lens , I do try to use wide angle lens asleast as possible as I'm not a big fan and as a rule I like to be on the longer end of lenses where ever I can , but certain shot do require these wide lenses .

The Sigma 30mm 1.4 is as killer lens as sharp as any Zeiss or Panavision Cinema lens , I use this lens a lot outside for night shoots at f2 , I rarely go beyond f2 ever as pulling focus on a moving person at 1.4 is a waste of time , I light most sets for 2.8 and go to 2 outside at night
