  1. First production units in the end of March as far as they say: "Panasonic Announces Additional Key Functions for the New Full-frame Mirrorless Camera at CES 2019 Las Vegas, NV (January 7, 2019) – Following an announcement at Photokina 2018, Panasonic will unveil additional key features of the new LUMIX S full-frame mirrorless cameras at CES 2019. The LUMIX S full-frame mirrorless cameras and lenses will be available at the end of March 2019.* A Whole New Style of Photo Expression High Dynamic Range Still Photo – HLG Photo Mode HLG Photo allows images to be shot with a wider dynamic range. By reproducing both glaring lights and dark shadows that are likely to be overexposed or underexposed, the Lumix S achieves rich, precise color expression as close as possible to visual memory. 43rumors HLG Photos are produced as an HSP file. The user can play back these vibrant images on the latest Panasonic HLG-compliant 4KTV via HDMI cable connection or other HLG- compliant devices. It is also ideal for photographers’ photo presentations. Stunning Details with a Realistic Sensation High Resolution Mode Taking advantage of the Body Image Stabilizer. (I.S.) mechanism, eight consecutive images are automatically shot while shifting the sensor. These eight images are synthesized into a single image by the new Venus Engine, which boasts high-speed signal processing. Precise details are faithfully reproduced to be saved as a beautiful, highly realistic image. This mode is ideal for shooting natural landscapes or fine art objects with delicate details. Considering situations where moving subjects are included in the scene, sub options are available to suppress motion blur, so photographers can use this mode the same as shooting in a normal photo shooting mode. *Availability date may vary depending on the sales area •Design and specifications are subject to change without notice."
  2. On your GH5s remark Don, it is not a better camera at all. Funny the fact just a couple of hours ago I was talking with a GH5/GH5s owner complaining about the fact he needs to wait for March at his best estimated date to own a much superior camera like P4K effectively is, despite so many similarities both camera models share. This Panasonic owner has tested my unit BTW. I find some advantages with Panasonic anyway, amongst them, a solid manufacturer like this major player is. Don't ignore the excellence of a professional service from these Aussies to begin with. I don't compare them with those found with the BMD output. Let alone their superior color science. To my book, much beyond that, actually. We can call it further cinematography and camera design sciences as well. There's life out there : ) People who don't live to show off footage from forum posts. Such activity doesn't pay our bills : )) You're just stuck to some other production values you've found in a few stuff shot over there. BMD have their own marketing footage and shooters in their payroll. You or anyone else here can only complain but to them. I stand every Jim's single comma up here. It is simply unreal and inaccurate any different : -)
  3. The most funny is people who don't have clue what they're talking about speak like an authority. This doesn't happen with expensive gear, obviously. Here's the whole difference : -)
  4. In one hour... https://www.43rumors.com/you-can-follow-the-panasonic-ces-live-stream-at-10am-las-vegas-time/ @BTM_Pix this forum without your hilarious comments would be a boring place : -)
  5. There are hybrid photo and motion picture cameras, I'd much rather shoot with the best of latter ones ; -)
  6. Once hybrid tools are the logic behind this community I don't see anything bad on this list so cameras like Z cam E2 have trouble to overcome their own market segment, even though no camera beats the honorable mention added there, reason why that honor dock also has its place. I even much appreciate Andrew's eye and doesn't seem to me rather important that or other order less or more randomly to speak frankly. Nice to know I am not alone to the arrival over similar findings. I just feel to note IMHO, P4K is the best camera not only to be part of a year's top list, but ever designed and produced so far. I'd also drop my bell to attribute a 2nd honor medal for the Osmo Pocket. No other tool had offered such thing in the camera history. Two game changers. The hybrids are far away to be. Let's not forget GH5 did it a year earlier. That said, hope no one may end as unlucky to receive Fujis from same batch of @DBounce's units. Just my 0.2 cents, Emanuel : -)
  7. Not exactly... But Thunderbolt. https://mi.ingrammicro.com/_layouts/CommerceServer/IM/ProductDetails.aspx?id=MI01@@9600@@10@@8W3085
  8. LOL Don : ) Sure, still in the hangover of last night : D Well, take a look in the one I bought to handle the proxies : P Happy New Year! E ; -)
  9. https://forum.blackmagicdesign.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=80960#p448594 Or something like this? https://www.gridaccessories.com/products/grid-5-0-viewfinder/ ; ) LOL : -) As said to our Greek fellow, I'll be able to post in a few days the best solution for P4K IMO. Much better than any heavier other one indeed : -)
  10. Correct. People have no idea what they say. E : -)
  11. I don't see how Netflix is over. We always had Production - Distribution - Exhibition. The latter two rule this industry.
  12. They surely invested their R&D in this form factor. Not strange at all. Good sign they're going in the right direction. It would be strangely bad if they would show a new design each new launch. The hardware must be limited to 4K 60p. Pity not possible 4K 60p to compete with P4K, unless they're protecting their slowmotion offer.
  13. @webrunner5 @mercer As you see I am not alone on my findings... how could I be claiming them as universal truths then? ; ) Just to not be accused to be trolling over this thread, here we go with some combo to invariably point out the proof is in the pudding: "Z CAM E2 4K H.265 120fps to 25fps Shot in ISO 160, 180° Shutter Zlog2 Graded with Zcam colour, Lumetri Color and Film convert. Other equipment includes: DJI Ronin MX Sigma 18-35mm f1.8 Art with Metabones Wide open Tiffen Black Pro Mist 1/4 CineMorph Mod Filter for anamorphic effect SLR Magic Variable ND Tilta Nucleus-M Wireless Follow Focus System" source: vimeo page
  14. I respect everyone here, you included obviously. You should know this. Did you ever infer your contribution is not welcome by anyone here? I don't think so. I just protested with this post of yours. I know your posting because I am your reader. You as writer should value all your readers hehe Well, I also think it should be useless to write we've shared along our presence some of POVs expressed over these boards, so all this ends to be helpless. Really. Thanks, to you too, E : -) PS on your quote not yet answered: where did you get I don't own a GH5? I've had several mirroless MFT units (9 units as of now amongst the different versions). GH5 is BTW the fav cam of one of my partners. I stated about X-H1 the goodies we've found with the X-T3 except they could come only in one, so waiting for X-H2. Rumors hint we won't have it next year. I wouldn't post but once you browse on internet where anyone can proclaim BS and because there's no rule without exception, here you @mercer have with the serial number included:
  15. Yes, I took it personally. Besides I could even end to be harsh with Don and I didn't. Never with him BTW. Especially when you look like to pop up here to defend him rather than usually me, I guess I am entitled to ask you where you've been when he has been attacked in this same forum and to notice your defense has only settled down now to add your ad hominem attack addressed to me or maybe you and me we just don't share identical camera purchase choices... haha I didn't even want to adopt a condescending tone with him for several reasons, one of them I really like him. I even miss him when he's not around. Only because when I read this camera is very hard to use, this shows up the person (whoever is) has no clue what is telling about. How to say it without offending someone you care? These forums can be rather misleading because people who don't use a tool for reasons of their own start to post fake facts in disguise of mere unfounded opinions. You seem to have fear to stop giving excuses to yourselves for a good chance to see by your own this tool and Resolve don't bite ; -)
  16. Stop Glenn, don't come here to try to put some conflict between me and Don. We have a friendly communication, sorry to bother you if it is the case. His point is not valid because he speaks about something he doesn't know. I guess it is not his intention, but he can mislead who reads his comments on his unfounded perspective about something he never tested. BTW, what about you? DId you ever put your hands in one? Or will you also come here to shoddily preach that's very hard to shoot with this acquisition device?! ; ) My point is from someone who owns the camera, yes. What do you think? I owe you something to post anything to prove to anyone here or anywhere else? I pay my bills, dude. And to follow up this input now from yours, sit down while you wait : D You get what your deeds ask, my fellow of boards. It is rather pathetic this post of yours and such invective against my standpoint. Any beef against my persona, dandy? Perhaps because of posts like yours or not, you don't read Jon's posts anymore these days over us. Something I can tell you though. I am not here to write to someone what I am not able to tell him quite directly face to face in the real world. I am all yours. You can start to write me to my inbox. You're welcome to meet me wherever you want. I can even bring my stuff with me just for the case you want to inspect the foundations of my argument. In real life, man, not invariably behind a keyboard like I see some silly comments from people who simply have no clue what they're telling about. All my point, cowboy : ) Yours? On topic, you'll never see me to bash whatever cam out there my options. You'll never see me to defend there's no use for other cameras as your post infers and misleads any casual reader and the whole thing. I would dare to write I cannot say the same about your usual condescending tone anyway, when someone has a strong point beyond the lines posted here. Sorry me if this my post looks like too harsh -- written speech is what it is (ain't you used to claim over these pages you're a writer?!) : P but you really pissed me off now with this entry of yours. I basically dislike ANY distortion of facts. You have nothing to add from your experience for the subject matter, i.e., your yadda yadda is just BS in disguise. Yours sincerely, Emanuel
  17. OBJECTION : ) It is not. There's no pain at all to use it. ON THE CONTRARY. Where have you gotten that idea? Because of the superior set of codecs? You're acting like you could say to have a million dollars in the bank account is PITA, I'd rather have a grand instead LOL For your own sake, Don, stop this nonsense. You have zero of experience with this camera. Anyone to read you with that pic profile : D will certainly believe you. That's not a good service to the truth at all! : -)
  18. Trust me P4K came to be with us for a longer stay. I know I am not wrong when I easily got this what 5DII was a decade ago. Don't be afraid of that RAW and Resolve high requirements. The most innovative to me along this new tool is how easy is to extract a lovely picture SOC. Import the LUT of your liking and be happy to quickly manage WB at your taste just in a few seconds. Don't be skeptic with my take, mark my words, I am your friend, this is the camera you've ever dreamed for all those outdated decades now : -)
  19. OK, I don't mind. I am behind the times then... LOL I'm still believing people are able to appreciate a fine outcome. Art and science don't change their paradigms. As much as diversity, richness... Because other than that risks to end in the instant you watch it. This fashionable outcome ends already outdated nearly the same as every poor electronic look from 80s analog or 90s digital video today. HD has resisted but even HDCAM then looked like acceptable, it is underwhelmed with these up to nowadays 12-13 stop tools at least. I still stand DR and superior bit rate codecs able to manage superior color science coupled to unique glass qualities such as bokeh is (take a look at the best from Osmo Pocket closeups as for instance, not the oversharpened edges hyperinflated to the limit to become pretty nasty to the visual perception fully artifacted), they are the best way you have the future proof in your hands. Throwaway resistant ; -) https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/artifact "(...) Something viewed as a product of human conception or agency rather than an inherent element. A structure or finding in an experiment or investigation that is not a true feature of the object under observation, but is a result of external action, the test arrangement, or an experimental error. (...)"
  20. Yes, 4K 120p offers good looking footage for sure. But that sample here? C'mon mate, that's simply rubbish, it doesn't bring any justice to this device : ) Instead you underestimate much better examples from P4K. What's up with you and your self-trolling behavior lately? You say P4K is hard to work with. You have no immediately funds for. You need to buy something to buy anything else. You praise any mediocre outcome you see on your pretentious loved ones?! We all know this camera is unique with 4K 120p, genlock open door to distinguish her to begin with, but... Never shot with one yet. I bet it is another camera league though. I just claim perspective to you, my friend, focus on objectivity for your own sake. Some other poster could make my silence. You count to me : -)
  21. Multiply per x0.7 + x2, you'll have your 35mm equivalent. 24mm (once in your first example, you won't be able to use a focal reducer) and 28mm respectively for both glass cases you mention. Don't forget you'll have one full stop more of light at least.
  22. How long? Where? From NAB floor? I have no need for because I have one unit sit here at my side. You instead... : ) Price wise...? LOL Unless you want to genlock two units, you want to take advantage from H.265 or 4K 120p. Other than that, my friend... ; ) Correct. Not will nor price target in the first case. At what mark? $4,500? Agreed, finally... ; -)
