give vimeo a 2.5k file (even if it's just uprez'd from a 1080p aquire, and the 720/1080 streaming from vimeo always looks better than if you simply upload a 1080p file.  this is what i have found anyway.

No one will find out if you don't ask. But since you asked, I think the white background scene was shot on GH4.
Very nice song by the way.

Interesting. I definitely have done this and like the look, but is that what people here are talking about for the most part? Seems like there's the idea here of 24 frames per second, each frame being held for the exact same amount of time. Like in some cameras you might not get "frame, frame, frame.." you'd get "frame, fraame, frame, frame, fraame.." which shouldn't have anything to do with rolling shutter. Though obviously that affects motion. And there's kind of a charm to a perfectly choppy low frame rate. Idk, are we talking about all these things added up? Feel like maybe this is too general

    They are not tv spots.
BMW hire out a race track in south Portugal to test soon to launch models. We shoot promo stuff that gets sent out to various big players in the industry to start wetting the appetite.
We have used GoPros, then when we moved to GH4, people noticed the quality upgrade.... Pulling photos is also part of the process, so 12 stops would help. We have to shoot in some really harsh daytime sun. Maybe the XC10 can take it up yet another level? I look forward to testing it.
Would I prefer a larger sensor, a nice F2.0 12-35mm lens,,,, hell yea,,, but I do see uses for this niche camera.
The BM micro would be a dream for 1080p, for our needs though, 4K is a must

Specs aside, I've seen some amazing looking footage from the GH4 on drones. Even with the new GoPro "de-fisheyed". Aerial shots have such a wow factor that I don't believe people are going to look at it and say it sucks b/c it has 10 stops of DR instead of 12.

What ever happened to them blocking copyrighted songs? All of my videos with copyrighted music is still up and working.

At least Canon offers alternatives. I'm still mad at Panasonic for not releasing a kick ass AF200. (yet)

Dedolights make a great set of LEDs that are super customizable. A full set will run more than 2K though. You could always get 2 Flolight fluorescent banks (similar to Kino Flo but half the price), and 2 Arri 650W fresnels. Mix in a couple of diffusers and flags - you'll have a good kit.

Looks good. I love Sigma. I'm thinking of just going with the Canon 10-18 b/c of weight, and the STM feature of face tracking.

I have to disagree with many posts here. I went with the cheap adapters in the beginning. Mainly because I could not afford a more expensive one. I'm not saying that expensive is always better, but if your adapter doesn't fit or becomes loose in a short time because it is cheaply made you are going to regret it. Mid-shot while you're adjusting your aperture ring your shot is going to be ruined by any play in rotation. I bought a Novoflex a few years ago with my GH3 and would never buy a cheap adapter again. This adapter still works perfectly and fits like a glove. Perhaps others have gotten lucky, but I personally wouldn't chance it. Not sure if there are better options these days, but aside from a Metabones adapter for specific reasons that would be my go-to for sure.

I'm looking forward to the day when After Effects and Premiere merge into one program (if possible). Dynamic Link is pretty nice, but it's still extra steps.

You may not be able to quantify the 14 bit color, but you can definitely tell it looks better than a normal 8 bit source.

I do have a portfolio. A few local televised commercials, some dance videos, stuff I did for my previous employer, and then an FX reel.
And I would never spend 50K on a camera right now. This is for an entire setup.

That test was on the original C300, which is only $7k. The mkii has better DR, low light and (finally) 4k. The form factor also counts for a lot (like, a lot a lot). Additionally, you've got pro audio inputs, waveform, 4" lcd, dual-pixel focus assist, 10-stop ND and a ton of other features that make it a really great camera in the studio and out in the field. They can also take a beating.
Nothing against the NX1- it would be a great B cam for a studio with this budget. However, neither it nor any DSLR-style camera should be in the running for A cam, where the competition as I see it is the Ursa (mini or full), FS7, Kinemini, etc.

One more suggestion. Canon is doing a 2 year 0% financing (I just took advantage of this). If he was looking to get a C300 or C100 he could put down half up front, and spend the rest on other gear. Pay off the remainder as jobs come in the next couple of years.
