The media created Trump. The Apprentice. A top ten show in America. Where every week Trump is a smart hero to everyone who wants to make it in America. A successful billionaire to those who don't better. The man who can fire you. A man in his Trump airplane, with his fancy suits and beautiful woman and a vision of success, of the American dream, to those who know nothing better.
The media gave him coverage during the primaries. Nonstop coverage. Waited on him to speak. "Did you hear what he said?" "Did you hear what he tweeted?" Put on the screen his rallies even before he got on the stage. While they gave a third of that coverage to Hillary Clinton, the best choice in defeating the monster.
Trump the monster. They made this monster. Because - he was GREAT for RATINGS. Because he was a carnival backer. Entertaining as hell. It was a fun reality show for everyone! He knew what to say - what soundbytes work. He was a natural extension of our TV culture's endless reality-show culture that has been going on since the 90's.
Leslie Moonves, CEO of CBS was quoted as saying in reference to Trump: "It May Not Be Good for America, but It's Damn Good for CBS."
The man who will most likely appoint supreme court judges to destroy Roe vs Wade, the Paris Climate talks, the marriage equality act, and any sort of green energy reform.
So what do we do?
Take away the one thing the mainstream media cares about: their RATINGS.
To sink the news divisions of any mainstream media service that potentially destroyed the planet in exchange for a quick billion dollars.
THIS IS REVENGE for them destroying our future.
It's time to get angry. To not be reserved. These fuckers just took away female reproductive rights because they wanted to buy a new private jet. Why couldn't they get their ratings from their entertainment division? You greedy little fucks.
I am calling on all of you to work on and create alternative new sources and docs and FB videos that steals away their eyeballs. Media that is more engaging and more thoughtful and ethical enough to not resort to ratings grabs above all else. Above human lives.
There are so many causes that need videos - that need larger audiences to get behind - green energy movement, human rights movements, international policy movements, college education movements, b-corporations, local politicians and efforts. Critical looks at the world's major banks and international powers - so much stuff.
We can do this. We have the talent and skillset from our 10,000+ hours of learning and learning and learning to use our powers for good.
Let's get organized. Let's all talk about this.
Let's figure out how to divide up our limited time to do this all.

What does this mean for Canon, Red, Panasonic, Sony, Arri?
Well the dollar may crash.
Maybe it won't - actually seems like it won't. 
So no one knows what's going to happen to trade.
Will it help Red that manufactures in the States?

One thing we do know - this was a useless post.
 

The 1DX II isn't a video camera? It shoots video. It's a video camera. We're past the time when a dedicated camera necessarily means a better image capturing machine. As far as dynamic range, most of the good dslr's have about 11-12 stops (s-log3 is problematic for sony's 8-bit codec). Blackmagic does give you more usable dynamic range, and they have excellent noise control/grain structure. But some people have their issues with them.
Now does the c100 II have a better image? Well, no.
The 1DX II gives you high quality 4K with low rolling shutter and great out-of-the-box color. Also, the best video AF w/ touchscreen. And the c100 would not give you any practical advantage in dynamic range, color, low light, noise, etc. Even the 1DC's advantage is way overblown here...c-log has limited use because of the 8-bit codec, and you need to shoot at native iso, in many/most situations you'd probably be using a different picture profile. 
 As far as audio, yes the C100 does give you XLR inputs, but the quality of the preamps aren't even as good as the consumer Sony PCM-10 (<$250) or the newer Zoom products, which give you far more options in a compact package. Unless you absolutely need the super low bitrates of the c100.
Also, the 1DX II is a world class stills camera. 
Why would you be investing in an old video camera and an old stills camera when their combined price is pretty much the same as the 1DX II? 
The 1DXII is both a quality 4K video camera + top stills camera. 
 
 

I ended up getting a 1D X Mark II as well.
It's astoundingly good but it has ONE really surprisingly disappointing aspect - they removed the digital moire filter in 1080p mode - it has more moire than the 5D Mark III and 1D X 1080p. A backward step for 1080/24p full frame. Good job there are plenty of other cameras much cheaper than shoot good full frame 1080p like the A7S!

Please, whoever is at Photokina talking to panasonic reps: we desperately need (usable) cropmarks on the GH5. Camera has been out for 2.5 Years now and I'm still duct taping my display. Cropmarks for 2.35, 2.66 (with black/dark borders, not just lines), preferrably ability to upload custom cropmark images, Anamorphic desqueeze for 1.33, 1.5 and 2x, focus assist zoom during recording. Unfortunately Panasonic reps didn't pay any attention to a very detailed and easy update-list from the GH4 groups.

Love the film. We should also note that Ed is only listed as the DP, which implies that he neither wrote the script nor came up with the hashtag, so maybe we should confine our comments to his cracking camera work.

The hashtag, I agree, is a bit awkward. Trump is capitalized in the hashtag. My first interpretation was Trump as a noun using  Yoda grammar (verb in the wrong place). The video doesn't ever use Trump as a verb. The refrain that is constantly repeated is "we believe". 
A good slogan is one that is clear and not open to misunderstanding. I can just imagine Trump followers calling his opponents haters because of the hashtag.

are you saying Ed's video was promoting hating Trump? that's ridiculous. the video only promotes love, and the hashtag reads to me more like "Trump hates, and we have risen above him". the high road rarely involves violence. and Trump definitely hates.

The Red One MX - dynamic range is not there, but it has a look, some kind of unique look - not like film, not like the alexa, but it's own look - older but its there - something nice, kind of like the what's that camera from China - the Kinefiniti
 
shot with red zoom lensses - 18-50 + 50=150 plus ultra contrast 1 - man that flares nicely.
ultra con gives such amazing flares - where have you been my whole life.
So screw new cameras, get an old used camera and mess around with it.
shot at 640 ISO, 4.5k , and that's it
11 stops dynamic range, 10 stops?  who knows, who cares.
it works - it doesn't overheat.  it doesn't shoot slo motion unless you crop it but the motion cadence feels right, not like a videogame like the dragon or weapon or slimer new camera they have.
find its weaknesses, find its strengths and shoot some stuff.
don't be afraid to go into the past and be made fun of, and who cares, just work with your camera as best as you can, and make mistakes constantly and try to get better.

Some questions:
Can it record clips longer than 30 minutes in a row (like a 2 hour uninterrupted event)? Does it have 24p? Will DPAF work with regular Canon EF lenses (like the EF 70-200mm f/2.8L II lens) ? Does it have clean HDMI output for external recording? If the answer to any of these is "no" then it's definitely not for me. If they're all "yes" then I would be very interested.

Not usually, but I wanted to try it out and it worked great. But for stills photos it's better not to shoot in live view mode. The normal AF for stills is ridiculously fast and accurate.

Exactly. DPAF and 4K 60p make a great case for the 1DX II, even without C-Log.

Even at $5k, you have to ask if it makes sense to forego the features that the 1DX Mkii bring to the table. 

I sense log will soon be an option for the 1DX Mkii

Nice find! So I just replace the rod on the side with a longer one to fit the 1DX Mark II? If so, that's a hell of a deal!
