Ever felt like owning a cheaper Komo… Erm, small dragon-like camera? Well now you’re in luck. The Sony RX0 II has morphed into a living, fire breathing Super 16mm cinema camera thanks to this mod adding an exchangeable Micro Four Thirds & C-mount lens mount, removable IR cut filter and fast apertures to your previously drab F4.0 action-camera.
As we await the suspense in whether anybody DID manage to find a large sensor interchangeable lens 4K camera for under $200, the good news is that we don’t have long to wait. Voting is already under way and after the vote everybody is going to reveal what they found on the treasure hunt part of the challenge.
In the challenge some shooters went for an abstract low-fi look, which I think Kye took to the most extreme end of the low-fi spectrum with his video above!! For Kye, this seemed to be a $10 challenge!! I really like what he did with this video though, it’s cinematic, great music and uses the limitations of the image to capture the mood perfectly.

If RED can continue to prove that the approach to their codec was novel, RED will win and Apple will have to compensate RED or make a deal in order to sell ProRes RAW in our devices and cameras, such as the Nikon Z6.
Cupertino tech giant Apple has launched a legal petition vs RED at the US Patent Office, which began in May this year.
It’s common knowledge in the camera industry that RED owns an important patent for a cinema cameras featuring compressed RAW.
Now British third party accessory manufacturer Jinni Tech alleges RED “deceived the US patent office” and filed the critical patent late.
