Introducing the SLR Magic anamorphic lens – hands on with new V3 prototype

At the beginning of the IFA show in Berlin, Andrew from SLR Magic dropped by at my studio and dropped off the V2 and V3 anamorphic prototype lenses the company are working on. As long time EOSHD readers will know I am a passionate advocate and shooter of anamorphic.

The SLR Magic anamorphic is the first new lens of it’s kind to be announced in many years.

New iPhone 5S – iSight camera gets 120fps slow-mo

Here’s the new iPhone 5S’s camera at a glance:

  • 15% larger CMOS sensor
  • 10fps burst mode at full resolution
  • 720/120fps slow-mo video
  • 28MP panorama
  • Auto image stabilisation picks sharpest shot out of 5
  • New F2.2 lens with 5 elements
  • TrueTone flash uses LED with variable kelvin temperature to match subject, gives better skin tones

The iPhone 5S is a somewhat modest upgrade in terms of the overall phone hardware, but the new 64bit processor packs a real punch and iOS7 is a revolution. Read on for more details and analysis.

Cinema DNG support coming to Adobe Premiere CC in October

Due to demand Adobe are finally putting Cinema DNG support back into Premiere. What’s more it is a fully featured implementation with realtime playback like Resolve and GPU accelerated debayering. Adobe’s existing debayer of Cinema DNG gives the best image quality out there so I have high hopes for Premiere come October.
