I had the chance to interview Elle Schneider today of LA based Digital Bolex. Their D16 camera is a 16mm Bolex using existing off the shelf components and raw processing software developed in Canada. It shoots 12bit raw with no rolling shutter, although the sensor is much smaller and less sensitive than the one in the 5D Mark III.

Consumer 4K is on the way, it is now as inevitable as the first 1080p stickers were on your TVs and cameras of 5 years ago. In an interview with DPReview, Nikon’s Tetsuya Yamamoto says that the Nikon J1’s (Aptina produced) sensor is already capable of a 4K horizontal resolution in video mode (although he doesn’t reveal the vertical resolution which I suspect would be lower than 2K).

Panasonic are in talks with Epson to provide cutting edge new display technology for the EVF in the GH3. The news comes from a recent interview with Panasonic’s Ichiro Kitao at the launch of the GF3. It was a change of tone from last year when Panasonic spoke of the GH2 as a niche camera. Now they say, it is a ‘flagship’ and ‘very important’.
