Will Canon recall the EOS R5? Small first shipments

Recommended Posts

Like most people my age who stared video around the 5D MKii (550D for me) its sad to be waving goodbye, but I’m 100% Panasonic now.

Unlike a lot of S1H owners I didn’t consider getting an R5 even off the spec sheet because I knew, not suspected, that something just wouldn’t be right.

that’s the end of brand trust right there. When you just any get excited about the product or trust it’ll work.

obviously the C300 Mkiii will be great but it’s basically the flagship and a totally different price category.

Every camera reviewer  has been saying the last eight years is that canon has to change, they can't go on being so conservative with their specs.   And finally they do it and everyone turns on them .

Somewhere in an Indiana Jones end scene type warehouse are thousands and thousands of R5 / R6 cameras that will never ever see the light of day.

Why does every comment of yours has a massive elephant in the room? Nobody is criticising Canon for being conservative on the EOS R5 specs. You have to deliver the specs AND reliability, so

Adorama, b&h and other dealers in the US are being told by Canon that next shipment will come during last week of August.  Let's see what happens.

What's the source for this?

I asked B&H and they replied they had no date from Canon at all.

The response to the R5 has been very strong. Canon’s deliveries to US retailers have been extremely limited. We shipped out the first delivery in full last week and we expect to receive/ship our next delivery in 3-4 weeks....

to fix this camera issue is going to take several months, if they really want to fix it we will see a new version next year, but we will never know the new camera is different unless somebody open it and compare with the first ones, I am afraid Canon will continue selling the cameras as they are and we will never see a recall, no way, they know many people will just get the camera and keep it anyway, it is cheaper to just get a low percentage of returns.

In our August 4th update, we shared that Canon R5 preorders were very strong and Canon’s deliveries to US retailers have been extremely limited. We also promised to send regular updates. Since that note, we have not received any R5 deliveries from Canon. We expect to receive/ship our next delivery during the first week of September.
