  1. Yeah I remember when I made the stupid mistake of making 6 G7 threads instead of asking my questions of one. Thanks for the advice, guess I’ll just have to use my phone. I might sell this and buy a g85 or a6400 tho.

Well as long resolve does not support it, its kinda useless anyway for those on Resolve. And at this point I am waiting eagerly on that 1Dx III sample footage.

I know. Final Cut Pro only is a bummer. Either there needs to be support in resolve/premier or some prores raw to braw/cdng converter like there is for magic lantern raw files to dng. I heard something about edit ready for Windows being able to transcode prores raw to prores 444.

  3. Hey guys. I have a Panasonic g7 and want to use an external monitor. The screen is kind of hard to judge focus, but when recording internally it doesn’t output a video signal. Any workarounds?

That said  I don’t see myself ever going back to PC world (virus and compatibility issues being the main grief).

It’s really not that bad in pc land. Just moved from my pathetic 2014 Mac mini to a liquid cooled rtx 2060 rig for Davinci resolve. Download a free antivirus like Kaspersky free which I use and it works great. Or use Windows Defender. According to a huge German AV test that is considered THE standard, Windows Defender came on top.

Point is Windows is not terrible like it once was. Unless you are using final cut, save money and go Windows. Just get a reliable free antivirus and don’t download Zhongi_Video_LUT_installer.exe

I’m really hoping Olympus takes video seriously in the EM5mk3 and the, hopefully, forthcoming EM1mk3.

10bit codec with those lovely Olympus colors and an improved 4K an 1080p image (less noise and sharpening) would be a treat.

Checkout Chris Eyre-Walker for what an EM1mk2 can do.

He shoots almost all his stuff handheld. I mean this video below sums up what Olympus offers. Great weather sealing, stabilization, and colors in a small package.

Insane stabilization. Kind of wish I got the Olympus EM10 iii instead of my G7, as the IBIS is also great

    that looks like gimbal footage.

  6. Apple introduced the 16 in MacBook Pro today. Seems pretty good. Same price as the previous model too. The big thing I like is the improved thermals. Hopefully the i9 processor won’t thermal throttle this time!  They also improved the keyboard which is pretty significant. Processors are the same but that’s fine because all we needed performance wise is new thermals. You can configure it with 64gb RAM and the RAM speed has been improved. Also new AMD 7nm graphics. Finally we don’t have to pay extra for improved graphics.

Overall seems pretty solid to me!

So I do a lot of photography for my job- mostly boils down to high quality product photography. I used my friend’s a7 a couple times over the last year and was really shocked at how high quality the pictures were. I was thinking of buying one, but there are so many different models with slight differences... which is the most worthwhile to purchase? I see A7, a6300, and a6000 are all available for around or under 1000. A6000 is definitely the cheapest... Any thoughts here on the advantages? Is it better to get the newer 6300 than the a7?

Thank you my issue has been solved,,,

    ...not really

  9. The only benefit is playback speeds

My i7 3770 from 2012 chokes on 4K h264 100mbps. But transcoding to DNXHR HQX and I get no benefit in quality, but my 7 year old processor that is slower than what is in the base model MacBook Pro now can edit multiple 4K files with a breeze. And my rtx 2060 handles the effects. So performance is smooth. But I have a time and space bottleneck :(

You will get 0 quality benefit transcoding. But if your processor sucks, you will get much better playback.
