  1. What are your guys’ favorite settings for Panasonic cameras that don’t have v-log?  I’ve been using natural with contrast -5 and sat -3 and it grades well, but with contrast at 0 and sat at -2 the color tonality shines.

What reasons would Sony have for limiting this? Limitations based on the size of the bodies? Trying to sell some other video camera that has all these features? Just stupid design?

Either heat issues or trying not to cannibalize fs5 sales. They really are being like canon in every way, except their color science lol

Nikon I can see being bought out by Sony and probably run as a sub-brand at some point, as they have strengths that would compliment each other quite nicely.

Canon... well, you honestly have to wonder if they'd be better off dropping their camera line and becoming a third-party lens manufacturer, as the latter have honestly been a hell of a lot more impressive than the former.

Yeah if they do not innovate, as the competition improves, eventually their sales will probably get so bad that they will end up dropping their camera line. Their lenses are fantastic, but with canon’s lack of innovation and underwhelming performance, combined with other manufacturers catching up with if not beating them at their own game (color, dpaf, ergonomics) then people will mostly likely stop buying them I’m favor of a Fuji, Sony, etc.

Greetings everyone!  Proud new owner of an Andromeda DVX100 reporting in!  It was actually dumb luck that I stumbled onto this group and, more specifically, this conversation!  I just managed to get an archive of the Sculptor HD software literally the other day and and currently working on a portable run-and-gun handheld solution for on the go recording, which consists of a hackintosh laptop running Sculptor, and a secondary hot-swappable internal hard drive bay on the laptop that will essentially allow me to use large SSDs as recording cartridges.

I'm still working out the kinks and learning how to properly calibrate the software for the best possible capture.. I'm a novice enthusiast who has more of an interest in the technology aspect as opposed to straight-up filmmaking, but once I get everything running I will be sharing the resulting footage!

I hope we can keep the conversation about the Andromeda mod going!  I'm very excited to see what will come next!

Any chance you could offer the download for us?  Just saw a hacked dvx100 for $400 on eBay, but apparently it’s hard if not impossible to find the sculpture d software.

Wow, 3ccd 10bit raw, 720p, global shutter, with a leica- pana zoom lens, lens stabilization and legendary ergonomics. Keep on posting, my friend!!!! :)  Maybe you can resurrect the hardware hack and @BTM_Pix can join the process. We better get our DVX100 cams cheap now.:)

Maybe @BTM_Pixcould get it to work with OBS?  OBS supports prores support. Prores 444 10 bit CCD with Leica zoom lens anyone?

  5. What are your guys thoughts on the Panasonic g7?  Is it still worth it, or do other cams such as gx85, em10 iii, etc. have better value?  I have the g7 and like it a lot, but am curious what you guys think.

  6. This is my first post, but I’ve been following this forum for a while. Hello everyone!

I’ve been using DaVinci resolve lite and haven’t looked back. The fact that it’s free is insane, and the feature set is comparable to fcpx/premiere pro. As much as I want after effects, it’s too expensive so I’ll just have to learn fusion. Resolve also performs well, almost Final Cut Pro level. Way better performance on my Mac than any other NLE besides final cut. Adobe just isn’t worth it unless you are invested in it.
