I clicked on it to see how much exaggeration was going on and...oh my eyes. It's dreadful isn't it? š¤Ŗ

Pretty solid option Iād say. For my needs, I have a requirement for 3 cameras so Iād probably go a pair of R6ās over the single C70ā¦for my needs, but this would be my non-Lumix option right now. Not that I am switching myself. The S5 I could, but the S1H and S1R are too good!

Kye, itās slightly disingenuous to state that anything and everything on YouTube is wrong and of zero value. A lot of it is indeed crap, but the ability to pick and choose is an option, but āif itās on YouTube, itās worthlessā, isnāt even close to being valid.

I think you can learn something from lotās of different sources actually whether that be Hollywood grade colorist or more humble YouToober. I learn stuff I implement into my work all the time from multi million dollar movies and from some guy who shot some shit in his back yard with a crew of himself and a budget of jack all. The main thing is long as you are learning somethingā¦

Depends on our needs but for mine (ultimate hybrid), right now, it would be the current benchmark. Pure stills, Fuji GFX100s. Pure video, my needs, probably still S1H. Most compact (hybrid), OM-1. Point being, thereās no one perfect solutionā¦

On my PC, night and day. But I'd expect that... It's actually very useful because it pushes me further away from any consideration to ever going back to 4/3rds as much as I have a very decent business case for an OM-1 or GH6 based kit. And at the same time...you twat, makes me more interested in the FP-L again š As I mentioned the other day, Ninja V hinged at the rear plus 24-105mm f4 for OIS and that could be a pretty fabulous, still pretty compact cine beast... Not DR related, but how's the electronic stab on the FP-L and how is it in combo with the OIS of the 24-105mm? I know they do not directly play together like say Panny's IBIS and OIS, but do they work together at all? I'm not bothered by a bit of cropping as I tend to shoot longer anyway. One other option that makes the proposition even more tasty, but slightly different and that is with the Fotodiox EF-L mount adapter with VND between the lens and body, EF mount has a lot more OIS lens options... Damn damn damn you Reid, you have my brain pondering again...

Yep and Sony's A7siii I reckon could be pretty good in this regard...but it's a bit more video-orientated. A lot of folks poo poo the Canon R6 for photography stating "it's only 20mp" but I could easily do all my work with that. Whether I choose to is another matter and currently I choose not to, but that's my personal choice.
-
Didnāt watch but yes. Easily. I recently upgraded from 24 to 47mp cameras for my stills work because purely for myself, I like max quality, plus ability to crop hard (partly because I shoot shorter focal length primes). But could easily go back to a camera that āonlyā shoots 12mp for client wedding work.

Iām on my phone but clear win for the Sigmaā¦as Iād expect and the colour looks pretty decent too. Iāll take a look later on my PC and big screenā¦

There are troll caves everywhere š But seriously, who knows... There are a bunch of people who deliberately post shit any and everywhere they can, just to cause mischief and DPR is their main window for this, but we get them here also obviously. ALL of these cameras are pre-production units. Fuji have stated that and most serious reviewers have mentioned this, ie, firmware is not final. I suspect as usual, it's a bit of 'everything', ie; pre-final firmware, user/unfamiliar errors, plus a bit of deliberate fault finding. There's also some footage out there that looks a bit garbage and some absolutely beautiful stuff. I think when it all shakes out, it will turn put that Fuji has produced a bit of a gem. My only real issue with it at this time is the damned flip out screen... It wouldn't be a deal-breaker but another strike (for me) against being 'The Perfect Camera' and as I may have said before, not quite enough to tempt me at this time. To tempt me at any time it would need to be 'total package' vs 'cost to change' anyway and currently, no one is offering it.
-
I think we have a higher class of Trolls here. And less of them. But seriously, DP Review comments sections are an utter bitch-fest of misinformation. IMO š

Caveat emptor indeed regarding anything any DP Review poster posts. Troll cave.

I was talking about banding rather than aperture. When I tried it just around my house, I got banding in various rooms. No way can I work with that at live events. In short, itās not reliable and that is a deal-breaker. Still love the concept, just not the reality!

Yes, when I tested it last year, anything outdoor not moving, no problem. Indoors, event photography, no chance. Itās one of the worst cameras on the planet in that regard, - you canāt just go shoot with it. So itās only the video side I am personally interested in, but then after my last 3 weddings, I have gone back to shooting hybrid as I am getting more consistent results withā¦of all my cameras, the S1Rās, shooting the Natural profile, in 8 bit 4K 50p. They are pretty sticky in the AF department so S1H and S5 have gone back to static video only duty.
-
Iām looking forward to your review! I am NOT looking to change anything anytime soon, as in this year and even then may not for some time as Iād rather see what the L Mount Allianceā¦sorry, L2 come up with next. But an OM-1 system intrigued me due itās compact nature, great AF and video spec that is perfect for me. GH6 and XH2 also in the mix, but would be great to see/hear your more detailed insight Andrew.

Iād like to see the FP-L with the Panny 24-105 f4. That would cover the lack of IBIS for one thing. Rear tilt mounted Ninja V would open up options AND compensate (improve upon even) the lack of a tilt screen.
-
Agreed. A combo of 3 of those are my workhorses and although prices of used S1Rās have dropped considerably (and I am not even sure if they still make it?) Iād haveā¦and do have, these over any camera listed above or any Leica. If I was a stills purist, the SL2 and S model could be really interesting, but nah, mid-high end gear Iād say. Certainly in terms of capability in which case both are high end.
-
Indeed and that is partly why I DO shoot weddings full-time. The combo of reward vs effort etc, I havenāt been able to find with anything else, including other genres of photo and video. I guess I am just suited to it whereas most folks probably are notā¦

I have two of those thingsā¦.but they cost less than 1/2 that for the pair š¤

Socialise? Nah, Iām that guy could live on a desert island quite happily. Which in a way is a bit weird being a āsocialā photographer⦠If the black sheep and the lone wolf had a child, that would be me. I do have friends. Well one anyway. Heās not in the industry but has the same outlook as me.

The source is a camera company called Leica and the camera division of a company called Panasonic. They are quite well known. They stood on a stage together, recorded a piece (which I am sure they were reading off a flip chart) and put it out on their respective YouTube channels.

22 yearsā¦and counting. Not even close to a breakdown or divorce. There is no other option/future for me anyway, so maybe I compensate for that š
-
I think it sits right in the middle ie, is a hybrid and leans in neither direction. Hybrid is the present and future for a huge number of people, but especially event shooters like me. IMO Fuji know this fundamentally.
