  1. Yes and use it with the Sigma 18-35 f1.8. Eye AF with the XT3 is already very good (within a reasonable distance anyway) so looking forward to next month's firmware upgrade which is set to improve that considerably. I don't know about stabilisation as obviously neither this body or lens has it and always work of a tripod/monopod so not an issue.

    z6 vs XT3

Re. the XT3 stills (we're going a little off topic here...) I don't understand this 'mushiness' comment. Ever since the X series was launched 8 years ago, there has been more chatter about perhaps any other camera regarding the processing of images, especially since the X Trans sensor came out. The single biggest issue I think has been not so much 'user error', but rather a case of using methods previously used for DSLR combined with the fact that getting the best from Lightroom was something of an art...so perhaps is best termed 'user error' after all? With every version of the X Trans sensor and Adobe, improvements have been made and it's really only misuse of the detail slider that can cause any issues these days. I've been shooting the X Series professionally for 8 years using Lightroom and if it was in any way crap, like thousands of others, would not still be using it today! In summary, it does require some adaptation, but less so with every version of both hard and software.
  3. From a purely video POV maybe, but then these cameras are primarily designed as stills cameras with an increasingly decent video capability rather than pure filmmaking machines.
  4. No Fuji X cameras write to 2 slots. Stills yes, but not for video. You can of course write to an external SSD such as with something like the Ninja V at the same time as writing to one of the internal SD cards...which is my current set up...when my XT3 comes back from being fixed...

    Leica Q2 (DCI4K)

Realistically, it's only real rivals are the Sony RX1 and Fuji X100 series with a fairly clear pecking order (to me!) now which would be: Fuji the entry level, the Sony the middle ground and the Leica the top of the tree. It's not a rival for a DSLR or a mirrorless interchangeable lens camera though and really it's a stills only machine with some video capability. Personally, I'd rather it had zero capability and a 35mm lens but I think it's a fabulous thing and you either get the 'whole Leica thing' or you don't.

Would love one for stills but not for video.

    z6 vs XT3

I agree, the Ninja V (or any quality external monitor, even something like the Feelworld) is a must for filmmaking. At least to these 48 year old eyes. Especially in low light, I really struggle to see the LCD and if I don't have my glasses on, blurry mess at that! I also rely heavily on AF as a 'hybrid' shooter sometimes needing to do both at the same time such as a bride & groom walking out of church down a confetti aisle etc. The XH1 was 'good enough' in this regard last year, but the XT3 for the one wedding I had it for and tried it out at the end of last season, was better. With the firmware upgrade in April, it should be excellent. The fact that it also allows 10 bit 4.2.2 externally and a 500GB SSD so making the internal SD card a backup (and no Fuji has dual writing capability for video) is almost a 'bonus'!

    z6 vs XT3

I'm an XT3 user and if the Z6 shot 50/60p 4K, I'd be tempted to switch to Nikon. As it doesn't, it's an easy choice for me, - Fuji. By the sounds of it, you might be better of with the Nikon cancer. Damn spell correct ?
  9. Google it! It's all over YouTube etc. I'm not particularly interested in slating the guy, but he brings so much on his own head. Ah well, he will probably have to take up being a photographer after all and start shooting weddings...
  10. The man seems to be on something of a mission at the moment to sow the seeds of the destruction of his YouTube channel and therefore business. (Afghan Girl saga). Muppetry.
  11. Yes. It's not a new camera, been using it since Sep. It is currently with Fujifilm UK being fixed however as the USB port stopped working last week. I have yet to test this theory, but based on 'evidence' I have seen in various places, I think the camera needs setting to NTSC not PAL and 60p not 50p. If anybody with an XT3 and Atomos would care to check that and report back, I'd appreciate it. Cheers.
  12. The only downside to powering an XT3 from an Anker is you can't also use a gimbal such as the Ronin S...as I just found out. (Uses the same usb port). However, I'm sending the Ronin back as the whole set up I found too heavy and sticking to XT3 + Ninja V (Smallrig cage mounted) + monopod. I've also decided against powering with the Anker (mine is about 3 years old but works fine charging the XT3) as it adds even more weight to the set up so instead just keeping it in my bag with a twin USB charger for a pair of XT3 batteries and a USB charger for a pair of the smaller Sony batteries for the Ninja. This means 2 of my 4 XT3 batteries and 2 of my 5 Sony/Ninja batteries on charge throughout the day. It means battery changes yes, but less weight on the rig and for my work I need max portability.
  13. Some testing then methinks... Same subject, same conditions; Eterna 4K vs Flog vs HLG. Outdoors, bright sunshine, my main environment for weddings here in France and then a low light test. Quality of result vs workflow... Need my camera back from Fujifilm first!
  14. From what I have seen, the HLG looks like it has a lot of appeal to me. It would be great to go and shoot some and have a play...but my XT3 is on it's way back to Fujifilm UK as the micro USB port has stopped working One question for HLG users and that is low-light. I am no expert in these things but read somewhere recently that Flog was not the best option in low-light conditions and Eterna 4K a better option. I imagine that it would be the same for HLG? I have been shooting video for quite a few years, but 1080 until the XT3 came out and very limited chance to play with Flog, never mind HLG. Off to try and find some videos on Flog workflow right now (Premiere and Lumetri user) so when my camera is fixed, I can actually do some real work!
  15. Well I don't know if it's 'better than the rest', but my personal choice. Every camera/bit of kit is a compromise somewhere, - the XT3 just has the least number for me.
  16. That was my other option this morning when I decided to return the Ronin S, - get an 18-55 for anything handheld...but the bits of a wedding day when I need handheld are pretty much limited to gliding around guests at a drinks reception and following food being plated and servers taking it to the table. XH1 with IBIS sort of worked last year but wasn't quite up to it and I don't think the 18-55 would be either even with the new tweaked firmware. I only use a monitor because of my ageing eyes! Even with my specs, reading LCD's on backs of cameras is getting to be an issue! Feelworld 5" last year but the Ninja this so can record externally to SSD and 10 bit etc. Could do without the extra weight of that for sure, but it's only a tad heavier than the Feelworld so I can live with it. Ronin S vs Pocket though? No contest!
  17. Not in my experience... I use the Sigma 18-35mm f1.8 with the Fringer Pro adapter on my XT3 and the face & eye autofocus is pretty zippy and accurate...and that's before the firmware update in I think April that makes it even more sprightly. I don't use it for stills only video and think it's a great combo. Used it most of last year with an XH1 which was OK, but the XT3 has better AF.
  18. 1: Without a gimbal, unless on a mono or tripod, OIS I reckon is a must so the 18-55 has the 16-55 beaten there. Other than being slightly wider and f2.8 at the long end, there isn't really that much in it between these two for stills, never mind video. I don't use either however (but have had both), but the Sigma 18-35 f1.8 with Fringer Pro adapter in order to retain AF. It's longer and heavier than the 16-55 (plus not as wide or long) but the low light capability is the priority for me. If you don't need that, then I'd suggest the Fuji 18-55 is the better option for video. 2: I just tried a Ronin S. It's going back. Why? Combo of two things; A: big/bulky/heavy and B: overkill for my needs. Originally I planned on getting the DJI OSMO Pocket for anything handheld (which isn't that much to be honest as I prefer to work off a mono or tripod) but for just a 150 euros more, I could have the quality output of the XT3 on a gimbal. Step too far for me, so the Ronin is off back for a refund and I'm ordering the Pocket. I thought it was a superb thing, but once I had the XT3 on it with the Sigma plus the Ninja and on solid monopod base, a bit too unwieldy for my work. Hope that helps.
  19. Nope, no difference, ie, still reads HDp59.94 Flog. Should it if shooting 4K?
  20. Hmmm, maybe it’s because I am trying to use the European PAL standards of 25 and 50p, so will try 30 and 60 when I am in the office later this morning...?
  21. OK, new cable arrived today and in use. Still reads top left display (in) HDp59.94 Flog Unless I am missing something, it should read 4K50p Flog as that is what I have set in camera and every single setting is Flog and 4K in camera. But as I say, unless I am missing something as in a setting in camera or what it should read top left. @androidlad or anyone else with this combo? Or just an idea...
  22. Ignore me, looks like SmallRig have an option based on a cheeseplate. Doh ?
  23. In the process of setting up my new combo of; XT3, Ronin S and Ninja V. Installing the Ninja on the left after removing the focus wheel which doesn't work with Fuji as far as I am aware (?) and I don't need anyway and replacing with some 3 SmallRig components. On the right, I'm looking for something to attach an Anker battery pack (https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B071JWNQ8Y/?coliid=I2OTU7HC8RWVE4&colid=2DVR98NBVNPO6&psc=0&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it) which powers the camera. But what attachment and on the right as it balance out the weight of the Ninja on the left. I'm thinking some kind of vertical rail maybe and attaching the battery pack with plastic zip ties. Anyone done this or similar and have any advice? Cheers
  24. I’ve left the office but 99.9% it’s also set 4K. Pretty sure it’s the cable... Broke the first one I already had (don’t ask, I just did). Replacement looks like HD only. All my faith now resides on ‘your’ chrome job @androidlad !
  25. Page 3/5 Movie Setting = 4K Movie Output set as SD 4K and HDMI 4K so guessing it's the cable? I've ordered the cable you mentioned in another thread and it arrives in a couple of days...
