The 16-80mm f4 is even better.

Not much bigger or heavier, but IMO more clarity and a bigger range plus constant aperture whereas the 18-55 is really only f2.8 at the widest and quickly goes f4.

It's currently my workhorse do it all lens alongside the Sigma 18-35 f1.8 and Tamron 45 f1.8.

I was thinking of doing the 16-80mm and Sigma 18-35 as well. Seems like a great standard kit. Happy to hear someone else using it and enjoying it.

The thing is, you have to move the camera slowly in order for this to happen. It seems to me that the camera realizes to late that it's actually moving and compensates for it with the "jump" If I increase the speed of the exact same movement, the sensor doesn't jump.

This is the real bummer. I do slow pans with my GH5 a LOT– it's great with the IBIS, but if the XT4 keeps jumping like that it's gonna be a big problem for me. I rarely do quick moves.

Thanks for all your experimentation. I am hopeful Fuji will help solve this!

Maybe but i would not even mind a simple non variable one.

The Canon G# Powershot higher end P&S cameras have ND filters like my old G10 and while just the on/off settings, it is brilliant.

I have been looking at the G1x cameras with them...a lot to like, a sensor larger than M43 and a lot of controls (like the old G10)...trouble is that Canon seems to have greatly crippled video deliberately in all of these, the G10 has VGA and it is supposed to be quite nice but no real control other than the ND filter (I have not tried it other than mucking around).    The G1x has full HD but again, i do not think it has much (if any) real control.   The first version G1x is quite cheap second hand.

The Canon G# looks similar to what Fuji has been doing with X100 series. I think problem lies in that these are fixed lens cameras so maybe there is some magic in how the lens is "mounted"?

  4. Loved the early look at the camera. Was a huge fan of the XT3. Ultimately decided to stay with my GH5 because of IBIS and flip screen. Now the XT3 has it. My wife has the XE3 with the 16-55 and 35mm 1.4– being in the same ecosystem would make projects a lot simpler to pack for.

Would love to see the Viltrox primes announced soon though, the Fuji 35mm 1.4 is slow and loud for focus.

This rumor is really losing steam as the XT4 is looking like another XH1 disappointment, without the 6k capabilities the 4k120 seems like a non-starter as well. Meanwhile the EOS R5 is blowing up. Go figure.

    Chris

But I agree with @Stathman if it's XT-3 guts in an XH1 body (maybe improve the IBIS) that fulfills a lot of people's hopes.

  6. If 6k 60p is true... What does that mean for 4k specs?

Or even HD– The XT3 already had auto focus in 120fps maybe they could push it further? I am not familiar with the sensor itself so maybe it cannot physically do higher than 120fps HD or 4k 60p, but just curious.

  7. It really does sound too good to be true. But again, Fuji gave us the XT3 and that camera is a dream (the only reason I didn't buy it after trying was lack of IBIS and flip screen).

When I was using the XT3 I tried out the 23mm f/2 and 16-55 f/2.8 both were super reliable and a joy to use.
