Sorry, forgot I said I'd do this so I belatedly went out yesterday to do a quick shot with the GX80 on the 35-350mm
Well, two shots from the same spot to show its range.
Shutter speed was 1/60th which is way below the reciprocal for what is effectively a 700mm lens on this camera.
Its still so unbalanced though that I wouldn't recommend shooting it handheld irrespective of how good a job the IBIS does on it !

Some non-ART (in both senses) Sigma lens stuff from the 17-50mm f2.8 OS
This lens can be had for well under £200 used and usually under £300 new and whilst not quite in the same division as the ART series and quite a bit slower, I think it is a really good value for a general purpose constant f2.8 for APS-C users and unlike the ART lenses has OS with makes it a good choice for Pocket 4K.

    Sigma SD.
If Sigma and Leica settle whatever is going on with the MC21 adapter then it will be finding a new home on the Leica as the SA version of the adapter is about £60 in Japan.
Ditto the Sigma ART 30mm f1.4 as that came free with SD so to get it onto the Leica for £60 will be a real result but I just don't know yet whether this incompatibility is a forever thing.

I actually think the battery grip is a decent option to have to keep everything integrated as it were.
Adding a bit of weight to the body when you're using adapted FF lenses on it won't be unwelcome from a balance point of view either.
Not quite sure how the price can be not far off double a similar Canon one for the same batteries though (which also includes nav/control buttons) let alone against the price of the 3rd party ones.
Throws a bit of a spanner (or hacksaw) in the works if you've bought a cage though.

If you are looking for a really terrible value for money, slow but actually decently performing standard zoom for an APS-C L mount camera (and frankly who isn't?) then here are some samples from my Leica 18-55mm f3.5-f5.6 from a few days ago.
Its not going to rock your world but it acquits itself well for travel stuff like grey train stations and goats operating a self service buffet.

The Canon 35mm f/2 was brought up in another thread, coincidentally I used that lens yesterday, so I figured I’d post a couple grabs...

I contemplated getting it back when I had the bmpcc, never bit the bullet tho.

Can't help but think it makes a lot of sense for the pocket cam, this video kinda gives that 16mm home video feel.

Just started playing with the Viltrox Auto Focus 85mm f1.8 for Fuji. It is very sharp and well built.
Have only tried it on a X-Pro1 so far, which doesn't exactly do it justice. But I will try to get hold of a newer Fuji soon.
Could be an alternative for portrait shooters on a budget.

Here’s a couple frame grabs from a recent 50mm comparison test I did.
The first is from the Carl Zeiss 50mm 1.4. It’s the ZF.2 version...
And this one is from the Carl Zeiss 50mm 1.8 for Rollei QBM...

Different type of shot, so probably not the fairest of comparisons...

that is pretty hard core !!  i usually wait till the camera is well out of warranty and others have trod the path before me  . i pulled my nikon 950 apart to a similar degree to remove the hot mirror.  got it all back together had one tiny little screw left over  ? . been considering doing the same thing to my gopro to replace the lens with a less wide angle. still considering the swap, that and other lens acquisitions keep getting in the way. before and after photos from the camera with the hot mirror removed and 720 ir filter i think

FWIW, one of the favorite docs I shot was with a GM1 handheld.  There's a lot of things to worry about with making movies.  Sure, camera mass is one of them, but, to me, pretty inconsequential on the priority list.

Correction... it seems he IS shooting 1080p on the a6300 and still with only one lens. He shot this with the Sony 20mm in 1080p sLog2... it’s pretty detailed, I thought the 1080p on the a6300/a6500 was supposed to suck?
This one I quite liked as well. I assume he used the same lens...
I still prefer his T2i work but I must say... the guy is talented.

@Emanuel My experience coincide with what @Alpicat has mentioned above, with an addition to me having had similar problems with the crop mode as well, albeit perhaps in an older version of ML.
The problem of a stretched preview is easy to notice and all you have to do at that point is to reboot the camera and hope for it to be properly initialized. The crop and decentering can be harder to notice, but what you can do is to frame up your shots in regular video mode, before enabling ML - a method that works to combat decentering, but is a lot trickier regarding crop.

So, I was able to get my lead actor to sit through another one of my lens tests. This is the Nikkor 24mm f/2...

Finally got my hands on a Canon V10X15 15-150 c-mount zoom lens for just $20. I shot this very quick test on the bmpcc (shot wide open) and I love it so far. The lens is pretty big so I'm using rails and the SmallRig lens support. I like the zoom range--10x is the same range as my beloved DVX100 (though the FOV is different). It has nice round bokeh at 2.8 that doesn't have those odd "dips" as the smaller range c-mount zooms I've had (V6X17 and similar Fuji lenses I've had).

In my experience, I lose about 1/3rd of the top of the image which I instead gain in the bottom of the frame. Meaning; what I perceived to be the center of the image in the live view is in actuality 1/3rd lower. If that makes sense.

So, I took a drive yesterday in the cold to do a test of a few lenses... the Nikkor 24mm f/2 vs the Carl Zeiss 25mm f/2.8 in the Rollei QBM mount.
    Here are the results...
    Nikkor 24mm f/2
    Carl Zeiss 25mm f/2.8

I found the speed of the Nikkor to be pretty helpful considering that that shot was taken about 10 minutes after the Zeiss shot, but there is just something about that cold Zeiss look that has a definite pop to it that seems more cinematic... maybe it's in my head?
Full disclosure... I didn't attempt to match these images, I just did a basic Rec709 conversion and a little bit of curves and saturation. Also I am still using my MacBook Air screen for all of this preliminary color work and lens tests. I'm in the process of deciding on a monitor upgrade... so these may look like crap compared to what I am seeing in Resolve... oh the fun of hobbyist color work... lol.

Good eye, Kye. This morning I had a look at those clips and realized I had Sharpening turned up to 25 in the Raw Panel. I usually leave it at the 10 default setting.
After our discussion, I decided to process the clips through the MLVApp to ProRes and have a stab at them in FCPX. I think this one turned out nicer...

Thanks, the lens was wide-open, you can notice this looking at the booked balls not showing aperture blades and spherical aberration making everything soft.
The other shots are medium format pentax 105 2.4mm

    Wow - cool image.
People over-use shallow DoF and then everyone gets critical of anyone who uses shallow DoF, but when used in an artistically relevant way it is a valuable technique, as this image shows.  Both the fog and the shallow DoF really contribute to the beauty and kind of suffocating feel this has.

Had a chance to get a few shots with the Canon 35mm f/2...

    And here’s one from the Nikkor 24mm f/2 ai-s...

That last one could have used a little more diffusion on my Aputure M9 (awesome little light btw) but you can still get an idea of the characteristics of the lens wide open.
