  1. No new camera. P4k update is firmware. Grant said it'll come in a couple weeks.
  2. Braw won't be available at launch, but will come within a few weeks. So far it will only support the EVA-1 and C300ii Both models support 4k60p (UHD) and DCI up to 25p. So for an extra 200, you get: 2 inches 2 x mini XLR 2 SD slots
  3. 1080 MCM Rewire is properly scaled, realtime in colour. Any higher resolutions have choppy B&W or cropped view on the LCD. For me, it's too difficult to use and trust the outcome. Update to my banding issue above. In MLVApp, I switched from Arri Log-c to Film and that fixed my problem... I then used @ZEEK rec709 to Logc lut in MLVApp to convert it back to the log(ish) footage that I wanted in the first place. Thanks for the LUT!
  4. Ursa Broadcast receives Braw and pixel refresh in camera. Update in November. P4k update due in a couple weeks. Braw codec update to v1.5 BMD have created Premiere and AVID Braw plugin available now. Video Assist uses 2x Sony NPF batteries - HDR, 12g SDI in and out, 2 x mini XLR HDMI in and out, 2 x SD cards or USBc, ProRes and DNX, lanc, locking power connector (screw in), 2500nit, full screen scopes with PIP and overlay 7 inch $995 available in October. 5 inch (1 SD slot, no XLR, smaller BNC but still 12g SDI, no lanc) $795 available in October. Both models have Braw for other camera manufacturers, C300ii and EVA-1 supported but only with update to VA coming later this year. (free update)
  5. Rumours say there's big things about to be revealed at IBC. The announcement goes live at 9am CET. Things that people are speculating: Resolve 17 Pocket 4k firmware Updated Video Assist Pocket 8k (joke)
  6. Also, 10bit is just the display right? I can't see any details about the video capture being 10bit.
  7. I recently filmed a vacation video with my EOSm and enjoyed it, but now I'm home and I've noticed a whole load of banding all over my footage. I've never seen it in other things I've filmed with the camera, and I don't feel like I've pushed the grade any more than normal, and I'm having a hard time getting rid of it. In fact, you can see it in the ungraded screengrab! I've attached some screen grabs to show you what I mean. WORKFLOW: 1080p rewire 25p (I think 12bit) Use MLVapp to do minor adjustment and convert to Arri Logc then export as ProRes. I also bring it up to 4k from MLVapp. If it helps, here's my settings in MLVApp:
  8. Well, setting a bar too high creates unrealistic expectations as we've seen in this thread. Many photographers have a second, identical body in their bag at all times as a backup... isn't that a low bar to set for high end cameras? Preparation can never be a bad thing, and this allows you to make those preparations without doubling the price of each piece of kit.
  9. It’s not 10-20x the price by any means, but my Sennheiser AVX-ME2 set failed on me the other day and the Wireless Go came to the rescue and literally saved a shoot that couldn’t be redone. To me, the low price means there’s no excuse for not having this in your bag. Every piece of equipment can fail, and having a quick and easy solution will likely get you repeat business. Having a bad excuse, blaming your equipment will only get you unhappy clients.
  10. Maybe I'm missing something obvious, but how can I instal this preset? Using Premiere / Resolve. Thanks!
  11. Dang, that’s awesome! Shame there’s no price, but if it’s right I’ll probably get one... or wait for the model with internal battery to cutdown on wires on the rig.
  12. It's Blackmagic's grip for the Ursa Mini cameras. Unfortunately it can't work with the P4k as there's no LANC input. I assume it'll work with Panasonic cameras with LANC, but I don't know for sure.
  13. Music is very personal to the writer and the listener for different reasons, and for me, this song can never be beaten. The whole album is fantastic and I urge anyone who hasn't heard it to give it a go at least once. EDIT: they also soundtracked the 1929 film 'Man With a Movie Camera' and that's a great album too, especially if you can find it synced to the film.
  14. You can shoot 1080 raw in real time colour live view. Anything other than that is jerky and low res. I can’t use it at all and only shoot 1080 with mine. It scales up pretty nicely though.
  15. What's the thing over all the ports?
  16. Don’t you have to do exactly that with the micro? At least the FP has a screen.
  17. BMD just released firmware 6.5.1 update, but nothing for the 4K, only SDI updates to the UMPg2.
  18. I have one of those vests and find it very handy - although mine is just a cheapo fishing vest or something, in a nice greenish brown colour. As for backpacks and air travel, I've been using this CamRade backpack for a while and think it's fantastic. Highly recommended. I think it comes in a few sizes, the biggest is borderline plane friendly. I think mine's the middle version, but can't really remember now.
  19. That does look nice! Any idea on pricing yet?
  20. I use the Ursa 4.6k (not pro) quite regularly and always prefer using my Pocket. The Ursa is of course bigger, but doesn't really offer much more with the space. For example, you only have two user function buttons, but they're on the back of the LCD, so hard to use without lots of practice or some tape over one of them... There's also no internal ND, and the VF is half the price of the camera nowadays. In fact, in terms of UI the only thing I can really think of that it has over the Pocket is 2 proper XLRs instead of 1 mini XLR - oh and more streamlined battery/VF options. - but if you build around the Pocket in a good way, it can be on par. That said there is SDI, but no HDMI - so it depends what you want here with regards to outputs... Shame they didn't put both on the Ursa.
  21. Sound like it will open a can of worms I don’t want to open. But I’m going to open it anyway. I don’t want to rig it up all that much as it’ll be a hobby cam - so that’s why I’m not all that into the micro. Also, I can’t find one of those anywhere near this price.
  22. I didn’t want to start a new topic, but I never owned the BMPCC as when they had the mega discount, a colleague gave me bad advise about it. I’ve regretted not buying one since and I was a quick adopter of the BMPCC4k. I of course love it, but am still very curious about its original form factor. So much so, nelly picked up a mega cheap eosm for magic lantern and that’s great, but requires a fair amount of time to get the files edit ready. Especially after being on vacation for a while and back with tones of footage. Not to mention the dodgy live view and cropping situation when you shoot anything over 1080p anyway, my curiosity for the original pocket is still whispering in my ear and I recently found one with 10 batteries, VF and Saramonic audio interface and a few other goodies for €250 in my hometown. I’m pretty sure I’ll grab it, but wanted to get some extra advise - is that a good price? Will is satisfy my curiosity? Or will it open a can of worms that I don’t want to open?
  23. Apple have said something similar since the very first jailbreak, but it's not stopped them from hacking iphones.
  24. What about a glassless adapter? Then you can compare only the camera. It’ll also give fair DOF comparison on the sensor. FOV will differ, but hopefully it’s possible to step back to compensate? I hope you have one, and don’t expect you to go buy one just for the test. (Although it does turn each lens into 2 different lenses if you have a speedbooster and a glassless adapter to hand)
