Same here! I can't believe it's taken me so long to get one (now two!). Completely revolutionized my entire lens lineup - breathed new life into my most used and even least used lenses. Almost feels like I've doubled my collection.

I think I'm on a "screw buying new lenses I'm spending money on filters and light modifiers" phase. Layering diffusion, colored lighting and practicals, haze, actually caring about incidental bounce enough to use negative fill...  aaaand FINALLY got a black pro mist! Should get to use it out for a talking head shoot on Friday, but so far I'm really liking even just boring test shots.

Recent video I made with my GH5. Shot on the Leica 12-60 lens using a Ronin SC Gimbal. Graded in Resolve with Filmconvert and shot in Cine-D profile at 50fps with a Tiffen Black Satin 1 filter attached.
Two years going and still think this camera is amazing.

You were making a good case until this statement. Canon removing 24p from current and probably future cameras is absolutely purposefully crippling them. There is no extra strain on the processor for 24p/25p versus 30p. It's predatory behavior from a company that is trying to push its customers around - not cool.

Mokara has been searching for every reason EXCEPT the most obvious one to try and explain why 24p was left out. Must have been licensing and cost cutting! Now it must be a processing issue!
No. Canon left it out because they want to push the customers that want those features towards their higher priced offerings. It's really that simple.

I think they can be used in the scenarios they are showing, but only with the supporting gear they list rather than in the way they actually illustrate the operators doing it
Whilst the AF solution is quite a few months away, my small hardware interface to use the Tilta Nucleus Nano focus controller with the electronic lenses (as well as the software route via our app) isn't.
Without blowing my own trumpet unduly, it makes a pretty significant difference to manual focusing control with native lenses and can offer some mitigation operationally for not having an AF system worth the name.
No wires, no motors and no additional powering also makes it a lot more friendly for smaller configurations.

I mean it's easy to crap on Canon but it's true. I'd have to say they'd take up most of the list.
I'd also put the Panasonic G95 on there, as though it's a great camera it's a marginal upgrade over the G85 and you can get the G85 for so little now that there's not a lot of reasons to get the G95. Probably not a worse value than any of the Canons in that price range, but it was a disappointing release and I've heard almost nothing about it since release, which isn't a good sign given how popular the G85 ended up being.

The best thing about the G95 is that it stopped the G85 being a current model, I am looking forward to the ebay price drops.

MurtlandPhoto got a reaction from EthanAlexander in What's your take on jumping between different aspect ratios in one video?
Hollywood does it on occasion. The Dark Knight had a few IMAX shots sprinkled in where the aspect ratio went from ~2.39:1 to ~1.85:1. The Grand Budapest Hotel goes from 4:3 to 16:9 for stylistic reasons to show whether scene is current day or a story by the narrator.
So long as it serves a purpose, I think this is completely fine.

I don't understand how specs can be disappointing when there isn't a major camera company doing what the S1H can do in this price range?
It's fine if it's not for you, but to act like this isn't a major release that raises the bar is just crazy.
Every other company will have to match or beat the Panasonic.

Unless Panasonic's Headquarters is all of a sudden Studio 111 in Hamburg then you're wrong.
And although both places begin with an H, Hamburg is not Hawaii. It's a 2 hour train ride from Berlin where I am visiting my girlfriend.
The original plan was to go to L.A which would have pissed you off even more. But I chose to spend time with my girlfriend instead.
For me this was like visiting a camera shop, and I don't do that unless the camera is worth a visit.
If those specs are disappointing in your world you must be an insufferable fucking brat. Disappointing compared to what? Did a RED 8K handout land on your doorstep or something? Did your $4k go towards a stolen Alexa off the back of a van?
Some people have been reading EOSHD for longer than 5 minutes and actually realise how far I've gone out of my way to keep the PR influence over this blog as low as possible, and I'll point you to all those adverts I don't have.... Anywhere.
No sponsors, no paid ads, no content paid for and no shoots 'embellished' with Hawaiian scenery or Canon topless models.
But yeah, I'll take your word for it... The image is spectacular but the specs disappointing. The 5m dot EVF and 5 axis IBIS are top notch but the specs still disappointing. The tilting screen is a great evolution but still your disappointment overwhelms you. Maybe you are better off using that "real cinema camera instead", you know, the one with the "proper ergonomics", that shoots 6K full frame for $4000, with a built in ND, a 5 million dot EVF and IBIS.
    ?

Tom Antos has posted his review of the 6K. He's definitely the Youtuber who's done the most work for a Pocket 6K review thus far. Pretty comprehensive.
