You can always correct it on touchscreen going with tap-to-focus, once it seems to accurately work on both AF and MF. Without mention @post on editing... :-D

I'm in Tokyo right now and I went to Bic Camera's 8-story megastore to tinker with the GH5 and the EM1.2 - my Fuji lenses are sucking dust like a damn vacuum - so I'm considering a switch to m43 and Olympus Pro lenses.
Anyway, super impressed with both cameras, IBIS is great and AF was fantastic. I spent some time tinkering with both, there were Oly and Panny specialists in the shop that ran me through a bunch of the features and whizzed through the menus to demo the various AF functions. I have to say after walking around the the EM1.2, the IBIS is in another league compared to anything Sony and the GH5 - zero rolling shutter helps - but the Oly is so freaking smooth. The GH5 is larger and heavier than I expected, AF with the touchscreen was very impressive, but I didn't try a lot of tracking. I tried the 12-35, 12-60 and 35-100 on the GH5 and the 7-14, 12-40, 12-100, 40-150 and 300 Pro lenses on the EM1.2. At 12mm I was able to get reliable focus on my face vlog style using the touchscreen with both cameras. I used the 12-100 on the EM1.2 to follow my wife as she walked around the store in front of me, it did a better job tracking then my XT2. The only thing holding me back is downsizing the sensor after going from Sony FF to APS-c with Fuji. I shoot a lot off stills and m43 gets really noisy from 3200 on, but getting lenses cleaned every few months isn't realistic given the fact I'm on the road all the time so the GH5 and EM1.2 are on my radar as a photo/video dual camera setup.
I've been in a lot of dusty environments lately including Myanmar, Vietnam, Cambodia and India - later this year I'll be in Africa and then Central/South America. I love my Fuji's, but the weather sealed zooms are huge and the 16-55 is not stabilized - not very travel friendly. I always keep my camera in a shoulder bag or backpack when not shooting and never changing lenses in the field (I carry two bodies and choose my lenses before heading out for the day) my lenses are full of dust and its easy to see in the images, I've uploaded a few images from the countries we've visited here with more to come: https://www.facebook.com/pg/trekofjoy/photos/?tab=albums
Side note: Bic is just an awesome store with everything electronic and lots more like toys, booze, bikes and so on. Fun place to roam for a few hours and tinker with all the gadgets as they have demo models of everything and you can freely try them out for as long as you like. My wife even had fun there, its great.

Yes the iPhone is a cash cow, but Mac sales have increased over the last decade as well. The Pro is the only real misstep. Like others, I've used PC's and Mac's, just prefer the Mac OS and FCPx and for me OS X has been much more stable than all recent versions of windows. Plus I'm virus free without running any system clogging anti-virus software. Just my preference and what works for me. YMMV.

    Agreed.
Sony can cram a FF sensor *and* IBIS into the E-mount, just adding IBIS seems plausible since there's a lot of space around the sensor. The a6500 body is smaller and they made it happen. I don't buy Fuji's reasoning. I do believe the R&D costs are too significant for a camera line that doesn't seem to turn much - if any - profit. Shame they couldn't just license it from Olympus, IBIS is really all I'd like to see added on the hardware side of things.

You missed my point completely. Its not about the minuscule difference in speed/acquisition times, its about following your subject with a simple tap on the screen - which Canon DPAF is superior to everything else and light years ahead of Panasonic. No casual photographer is shooting high bitrate video of birthday parties and school plays in 4k60p on a $2000 body, SMH...
Notice how DPAF is on all volume selling Canon bodies? This is where the gap is the widest - and where the most units are being moved - and where Panasonic is so far behind. There's hope since IBIS was first introduced on the lower end models, but they're still far behind the competition and the gap grows wider with every Dpreview puff piece showing how easy it is to focus on moving subjects with a Canon body.
    Cheers

I have a hard time believing that one. A few hundred pixels out of 20 million, please. But what I would believe is the additional engineering required to have a competent PADF system while shooting stills and video was beyond the budget/time allowed for release, especially given the recent restructuring - they're trying to reel in costs in a sharply declining market. They've had years to figure this one out, the gap between Panny's AF and others will get wider as face detection, eye AF, and AF-c tracking get further refined.
The 4k/60p filmmaker market is minuscule compared to the general buying public - PADF on the GH5 would have tricked down to the volume models - which is the segment that needs it the most. In 2016 ILC sales were down another 12% to over 11m units, compacts continued to crater and shipped 12m units, for the first time in ages 2017 will see more ILC's shipped than compacts, of course due to phones. When soccer moms go to buy a "good camera" to move up from their iPhones and see the difference Canon's dual pixel AF makes compared to DFD as only one stays locked onto the subject walking around the store, its an easy decision.
Personally, I haven't seen anything that constituted a "vast improvement" in IQ. Marginal yes, vast no. The current gen of m43 sensors has pretty much peaked IQ wise, until Sony goes BSI or the long rumored organic sees the light of day, there are no vast improvements to be made in m43 IQ world. Or any other for that matter, its always incremental.
The GH5 still looks like a great camera, if I didn't shoot 25k+ stills a year I would probably get one. But for me, DFD doesn't cut it. As always YMMV.
Amazing, I agree with others, a grading tutorial that demonstrates the steps you posted would be something I'd bookmark.

I'd like to see Sony revive the smaller VG camcorder line with the a6500 innards, just call it the FS3. The VG's were way ahead of their time - and way under spec'd with that crappy mic and line skipping 1080p - so they were DOA from the beginning. Now we have the MIS and the XLR adapters, so the goofy built in mic could be eliminated. Plus we finally have the lenses to make it shine either with E-mount or adapted. Touchscreen and PADF make it more user friendly.
    Do it!

The lack of PADF makes it really tough to for me to pull the trigger. 60p and 10-bit are really awesome, but no PADF means no sale for me as I shoot a lot of stills and CDAF is so 2012. For me to go m43 I'd have to shoot the EM1.2 as well - and since Oly and Panny can't collaborate on lenses to enable full compatibility - I'd have to own overlapping lenses to take full advantage of their capabilities. For now I'll stick with the XT2.

The new FW update might help with that a bit since Fuji is enabling refocus while recoding. Looks like we'll be able to replicate what I did the with A7rII - use the BB AF to refocus while recording - with the added bonus of being able to move the AF point a lot easier. Face detection with PADF should (*fingers crossed*) be a boost as well.

Trek of Joy got a reaction from mercer in Nikon High End DSLR/Mirrorless Rumors
Nikon still has a much larger market share and user base than anyone outside of Canon. They can drop a Nikon'd A7rII-type body with a LAEA style adapter or the current mount, it will be huge. The 1 Series has killer AF and they built out a lens lineup pretty quick. The blunder was the 1" sensor. But we also have the d810/d750/d600 successors coming soon and DSLR's still outsell mirrorless by quite a margin.
IMO the DL's were cancelled because the resources are being shifted to move into the mirrorless segment and compete with the FF E-mount.
Nikon isn't dead, funny seeing all the declarations that they're the next Kodak. Before the A7's, people were saying the EXACT same thing about Sony and how they F-ed up the A-mount and the E-mount was consumer crap.

Honestly I didn't shoot any video before leaving on my trip, just a few test stills to see if the lens was centered as I sold all my Sony gear a couple weeks before leaving and kind of built my kit on the fly. Bad idea to embark on something like this without knowing your gear, but time was tight and I really like the XT2 after renting one to compare to my a7rII and a6300. That's why I wound up with a 16-55 and 50-140 that are sitting at home (too heavy to carry everyday) while I'm on the road all year. It doesn't help that until I hit Australia/Asia, I'd never actually seen a Fuji camera in a shop so I couldn't tinker with lenses before buying - now I see them everywhere as there are tons of camera shops in the countries I've visited so far - Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia. Anyway, I think the 55-200 is pretty sharp, and a really good variable aperture zoom. If you need the focusing speed or light gathering/DOF of f/2.8, then the 50-140 is a no brainer. For a travel lens with more reach and half the weight, the 55-200 has been a gem.

The focus change is pretty quick with AF-c, but I'm not using it to pull focus, for that I'd use MF and just use the back button as a backup. You can slow tings down a bit in post if you don't cut it out. As far as SS,I'm using it a lot when just shooting tourist stuff, if I want a critical shot I'll put my $$20 Hoya vari-ND (surprisingly good, got it off eBay) on the lens and keep the SS at 1/50 or 1/60.
The 50-140 is awesome, much better than the similarly priced Sony 70-200/4 and on par with CaNikon's best. I wish I could have taken it with me, but the lighter 55-200 got the nod.
    Cheers

I use AF-c a lot when I'm in run-and-gun mode, just move the focus point with the joystick. Its brilliant. I don't think you can refocus with AF-s after hitting record, IIRC that's why I use AF-c. I love the 18-55 and the 10-24, OIS is so good I don't miss IBIS on the A7rII at all, and that's not hyperbole, I sold a full-on Sony kit to move to twin XT2's for a year of traveling around the world. The 50-140 has the best stabilization of any zoom lens I've used, including the Canon 70-200 IS mkII.
You can adjust the SS beyond top dial values with the rear control dial, turning it give you what's between SS on the dial. BUT - you can also set it to"T" and just use the rear control dial exclusively to control your SS. I have it set this way because I'm constantly flipping between stills and video and its easier/faster to scroll from 1/500 to 1/50 with the rear dial. I don't use a ND very often either, so I use the SS to adjust exposure after hitting record.
Despite its quirks, its a great hybrid camera. Stills are fantastic, you can shoot raw + jpeg with your favorite film simulation, raw and pick a film simulation later with in cam develop mode (surprisingly quick/easy) or with LR. I have no regrets about leaving Sony and leaving FF for the XT2.

Been shooting with the XT2 for the last two months after shooting with Sony and the NX1 recently, not sure what good ergos are if you consider the XT2 bad, and it completely outclasses anything Sony has in the same class. How are manual control dials for ISO, SS, and aperture bad, along with a better EVF and LCD than most of the competition? Plus the menus are logically organized and you can group anything that can't be included in the Q menu or placed on a custom button in the "My Menu" menu. Custom WB's are much easier than Sony too. But Sony wrote the book on poor usability, so they're easy to pick on.

It was actually pretty easy, following subjects with AF-c and the joystick is cake. They were hanging out in this area for about an hour, milling around, calling out to each other when one would go into the brush and disappear, cleaning each other and so on. I was there before sunrise. I missed them going into the water thanks to a trip to the toilet. But I got them swimming out to sea, they were incredibly cool to watch, a true bucket list experience, just amazing. AF is really, really good, even when you're moving the camera, only takes a second to snap into focus (I wish Fuji would let us adjust focus speed in video, but I usually just use that as an edit point anyway). Here's a frame (compressed a bit to make uploading easier, its not SOOC), shot handheld at 200mm with the 55-200.
EDIT: side note since this is a X-T20 thread, for me the joystick works better than a touchscreen to pull focus, most of the time I shoot through the EVF (easier to see in daylight) and my right hand is adjusting the shutter speed while the left holds the lens.
Another edit, I have a bunch of XT2 travel video from the last month that I'm working on getting uploaded, there will be a flood of footage from me soon from Australia, New Zealand and now Malaysia - then more throughout the year from countries around the world.

Handling, ergonomics and shooting experience are at the end of the day matters of personal taste, preferences and experience. The shooter has just to be okay with his camera and its limitations and flaws. As long as a filmer and his audience are satisfied with IQ of a camera, everything is going to be alright....

IMO the XT2 is Fuji's first serious attempt at video. As such it should be cut some slack. Yes it's missing a couple of things and has a few quirks, that hopefully firmware will address.. but overall it's a very solid effort. The 4K image is excellent, the film simulations unique & brilliant. Gorgeous color science. One of the best auto WB of any current system. Then with Fuji X you get an excellent range of compact lenses with aperture control (who wouldn't appreciate that?!!!). Top notch Made in Japan build quality. Lovely design.. Manual controls. Basically all the stuff that's made Fuji X a cult among still shooters..
The ergonomics.. well clearly they are geared towards photography, and as such they are pretty much perfect on the XT2. For video, it's a little hit & miss. But no mirrorless camera is perfect in this domain, and overall I like the ergonomics a lot lot more then Sony's.. that require all kinds of button pushes and LCD navigation to get to basic functions.. Also love the view mode button on XT2, allowing direct LCD/EVF configs, very handy for gimbal work etc..
Now that's not to say a lot could be improved. I haven't used this cam on any professional work yet as I'm still putting it through it's paces. Lack of internal log being my biggest complaint for my type of work. But despite all its quirks and limitations, I still find it a fun camera to use and capable of superb IQ..
