  1. I don't think it has a dedicated Anamorphic mode?? This is some interesting questions and answers about the 5D mkIV from B&H to get people up to speed about some of it's features. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/explora/photography/features/47-readers-questions-about-canon-5d-mark-iv-dslr-camera
  2. Well the damn things I guess had to have had at least a 5.5k sensor in them all the time I guess or more.
  3. Yeah I remember those LoL. They looked like a pee hole in the snow viewfinder wise.. That is why they used tape measures in the day, and still do. But wow they were a great outfit to own. GAS back then!
  4. No ML is not going to do it this week, but this has to perk up their Ears LoL. Yeah but if ML does do a Raw, or hell even Canon themselves, it will be 14bit at least. That IS a big deal. That would make the GH5 look, well, weak Codec wise. I can see quite a few people changing their minds on the buying the Canon now. Hell I might even consider it myself. This is some damn exciting news.
  5. Well it is a game changer on it for sure. Imagine a ML Raw hack, Woot! Well unfortunally it is like 1500 bucks more, but it is FF, and they Do take some damn nice pictures, not counting Canon's Color Science, and well DPAF doesn't hurt in it either. I think the XF-AFC file format is a really big deal also. Moving up to big boy Canon Codec.
  6. Well damn good news on the crop factor on the Canon 5D mkIV. Big improvement! http://www.canonrumors.com/crop-factor-change-for-4k-canon-eos-5d-mark-iv-included-in-coming-update-more/
  7. Well I would wait for a few more weeks to see what the Real reviewers say about the GH5. I don't see how the GH5 can be beat for the money. And I guess a person could wait until your butt falls off for what Sony will come up with to compete with the GH5, and they will have to do it. Sony won't sit still. But maybe they have some goodies coming out at NAB. Which is about a month away. Might be worth the wait.
  8. He is a good example of what I mean out in LA on Craigslist.

  9. Yeah by the time you rig one of these DSLR style bodies to do much stuff it cost a hell of a lot of money. I just can't stand that type of form factor. Now if you need to stick one in a glove box to get a shot well that does work. But to rig one to sort of make a living with, Nah too goofy looking, and too crazy to operate. I can pass. But the GH5 does have all you need in spades in sort of a sucky body type.
  10. Wow this guy has a damn good idea for a small Run N Gun camera! Comment from the above article. "sibuzaru Cliff • an hour ago Yeah, the fact that the a6500 IQ can outperform the FS5 in some situations while having IBIS+PDAF is kinda annoying If they used the 24mp and allowed you to zoom-in seamlessly up to 1:1 pixel in 4k or 1080p will be awesome And I really thought the FS7II would be a FF camera, they even have security cameras with that A7S sensor, but why the hell not in a camcorder like the VG/FS series? Something like a VG-900s with IBIS+PDAF would just make everyone jump in just because of the camcorder style and better battery system for filming"
  11. I wonder if Magic Lantern will be able to work their magic on the 80D. I thought I read someplace Canon put the brakes on ML being able to do their thing on the newer cameras???
  12. I can't think of a camera under 7000 bucks new or used that does all of what the OP wants. It ain't happening. And points # 1 and #2 doesn't even exist in $40,000.00 cameras. Nobody uses Auto Focus or in camera stabilization at high end price points video cameras. That is what focus pullers and Glidecam operators are hired to do. Hell a Sony A6500 is probably the closest I can think about, and other than eye focus, which they do pretty well, still not a ideal choice. Oliver talks about it here.
  13. I doubt for that money they are going to be able to stand, pun intended, the rigors of travel day after day. Yeah might be a good way to break into the game, but I might look at used stuff say in LA areas. Even Craigslist out there has some crazy ass video gear for sale at times. You can't wear out the high end stuff no matter how you beat on it. You can Not afford a failure in that business.
  14. Not sure about the HDMI problem, but a lot of people unhappy Raw on it is Only 12bit. Not terrible but...
  15. Thanks for the correction. And my name is Don, not Ron. But no big deal, call me anything as long as you feed me, pay me.
  16. #00 is pretty much the most common size screwdriver you need for Cameras, Laptops.
  17. Well it all comes down to what you pay for. Cheap is crap, big Dollar equals Big Results. Walmart stuff, and well top end stuff. Your call.
  18. I don't see anyplace where it states that it is only in camera Stabilazation. Not saying it isn't, but he did use 3 differenent lenses. Hard for me to believe, they all look like a it's on a Ronin.
  19. Yeah, he says the GH5 will NEVER have USB charging! End of story. Around the 20 minute mark Panasonic rep states it.
  20. He said "side note, nowhere in the manual or documentation is there an explation for the difference between A*, 1*, 2* or 3*) both 2* and 3* are dimmer than option 1*"
  21. More people in the Video World tend to go with Nikon manual focus lenses than Canon FD. Nikon has NEVER changed their mount so that is one reason. And there are more of them around is one other reason. That they can be de clicked pretty easy, by yourself, doesn't hurt either. But Canon FD has some damn nice stuff out there to buy also. The 50mm f1.2 comes to mind for around 250 bucks. Hard to beat that lens.
  22. Well I would imagine it is a little to early to make concrete opinions on the GH5. I am sure, well positive it will have warts. Will Panasonic resolve them, I am sure they will with firmware updates, or heck even recalls!
  23. Well I know for sure the Panny GH4, GH5 has no limit. With the factory battery pack you should be able to get 6 hours, but as far as I know you can not charge them using USB. The GH5 on paper does not even have a USB port. C port. Sort of same difference.
  24. Panasonic works on a 3 year schedule on the GH series. Now it just has come out. So what do you think Smartphones will be like 3 years from now? That would equate to at least 4 generations more by then. I really doubt many people are going to be running out buying Panasonic cameras 3 years from now, I can't imagine people buying ANY camera manufacturers cameras 3 years from now, other than a few diehards like us on here. I think cameras have come to an end. There will be NO money in making them other than some dumb ass fur covered Leica for 15,000 bucks, for a limited edition version of it. So I think it is going to be higher end dedicated video cameras and a few 5000 dollar cameras for sports shooters, and that will be it. Young people could give a flying crap about cameras. They get zoom lenses figured out on Smartphones it is Game Over.
