  1. It is not True with the new sensor anymore. You people need to look at some of these videos out there with a open mind. This new GH5s is a game changer. This new Sony sensor is the future. This camera makes the GH5 look like a camera that came out 3 years ago video wise. Vlog on the GH5s is pretty unbelievable, Way better than the GH5.
  2. I don't think that is true anymore with this new Panny sensor. There is a video I watched and I thought like you until I re saw it a few times. I think IronFIlm is right.
  3. I think it has a BMPCC look to it that I like a lot. And it is a lot more usable than a BMPCC. A perfect camera for B&W work. I realize you are not going to make a Hollywood movie with it but how many on here are.. But that is why there is different brands of cameras and models. But I agree it is not a Doc, Interview camera output wise. It has more of a Cine look, and that is why I like it. Your looking at 6000 bucks for what you like. I can buy nearly anything for that much money used Cine cameras wise. The Kinefinity seems like a nice camera output wise, but damn it seems like a camera company one step from going Bankrupt all the time. They just don't seem very grounded for a camera company for me to buy into.
  4. I would argue the Leica-D-Lux-Typ-109 is the best buy of a lifetime. Take a look at what this guy does with one! http://www.ruslanpelykh.com/about/
  5. Oh come on if I was a 12 year old boy that is the first place I would go LoL. But I would argue that their is a Lot of good Forums on Facebook. I have a bunch of Video, RV forums earmarked on there I visit. And no I nave Not seen IronFilm's stuff on there. I think he is fooling us. "The gradual process of destroying all traditions, languages, religions, individuality, government, family, law and order in order to re-assemble society in the future as a communist utopia. This utopia will have no notion of gender, traditions, morality, god or even family or the state." Hell that sounds just like California!!
  6. I thought this one you did is really excellent! And on a EM1, I would have never guessed the camera!
  7. Hmm, damn interesting. WE are going backwards which I think is sort of a good idea.
  8. Not sure what camera this was shot on, but wow I do like the look, and it is a great interview to boot!
  9. @pannysvhs That is some really good stuff. Not too big of fan on the first half but the second half well Wow it got great! The last part of it remained me of Grapes of Wrath for some reason. Like the Dust Bowl, The Great Depression Era, even the music fit it to a tee. But we thought s16 film was the best thing since sliced bread, but in reality it was pretty damn Gnarly, Real Gnarly. But her face, skin in the later part was dead on. Man great stuff.
  10. I think you, like me, and others on here have become our own worse enemy. It was simpler times years ago, the camera didn't make much difference because it was sort of crap to what the big boys had, and we just ignored the camera and went on to write, I would say more fun stuff, then we do now. Willing to try anything because it was fun to experiment, to create, and hell that is what a movie Is suppose to be, Creative. Now that we have damn good cameras we spend 3/4 our money and energy on the camera, oh got to have the best camera thing, and I would argue less time being creative, having fun doing it. Getting the juice's going as they say. The story is King, and damn if it ain't! This B&W thread on here proves you can take a pretty ho hum camera and make magic with it. I think most people that have the GH5 spends more time on the Forums, YouTube complaining about AF, Colors, HDR on and on then going out and shooting. Hell they probably accomplished more, and better output on their old GH4! How long can you keep doing tests and not use it for its intended use, a short, a Movie, a Doc, on and on. Not 50 lens tests ,100 different LuTs. I think we all need to spend less time on the camera and more writing a story, a story board, dreaming what the outcome will look like, not how great the camera will make it look. There are lots of shorts, movies I never took my eyes off the actors, that I paid Zero attention how the Camera performed. That was the least of my thought used in the case of a great story. I am not saying go buy a 50 dollar camera and lens, I am saying put what you got to good use, the use it was intended for, to project your thoughts out to the world, good or bad. Shoot, shoot shoot.

    1Dx shooters

I did some research and I found very little on the problem. There are several 1Dx shooters on here. Hopefully one will respond.
  12. I am not a big fan of being censored either. But I believe the basic concept of it now, and in the beginning, was derived to protect our youth more than any other reason. And if we really think our young kids are going on YouTube, Facebook to see Mary Poppins, or re runs of Micky Mouse well.. In a world where it seems to be a race to the bottom I think some pretty big censorship is needed, and I know it is Sorely lacking on YouTube in particular. I don't want kids to live in a vacuum but in this day and age there is no good way to keep an eye out on your children as much anymore. Not with them having cell phones that downstream anything you want anytime you want. If we have a "ah to hell with it anything goes mindset", we will sadly have that wish come true in the future. There are for some reason tons more Evil people than I ever came across when I was young. I have a clue why but I don't want to get into it on here.
  13. I am sure to the average person, just like the Apple battery thingy, will hardly ever notice a slowdown. Number cruncher endusers will be the hardest hit I would imagine.
  14. Well we look at Vimeo, our young kids don't, they look at YT. Guess who will be running the show in 20 years, them not us. That is the scary part , It IS all in one place, and very easy to access! I watch a bunch of RV and Sailboat V Loggers and the trend now is to try to upload Every Day!! Christ, the content just they generate is mind boggling, let alone all the other crap!
  15. Two problems I see that in reality can never be put back in the Bottle is 24 hour news shows, and a amazingly scary amount of up loads to You Tube every day. The news shows are looking for the most dirt they can find, whether it is true or not. They don't dare fact check it or someone else will not and beat them to the story. Endless loop. No way in hell You Tube can review the stuff as fast as it comes in, probably not even with computers let alone 1,000's of humans. So no clue how they stop it. Lots of people can care less if they get money from uploads, so no big deal if no advertiser wants to give them 5 cents. And there are tons more problems like you mentioned. I see no way we Can go back. I think we are on the Highway to Hell to be honest. World was III around the corner maybe. It Ain't looking good long term I can tell you that much. I just see it getting much worse, let alone just treading water. I think the Internet may well prove to be the worse thing Ever invented in the long run. And we are not even talking about the "Dark Web", Christ.
  16. Well here is another one to compare to. The C200 with no Broadcast stand 1080p Codec, and just one CFast slot, it is not the most desirable thing out there for heavy field work. I just don't see why one of these manufacturers does not make a few extra things on their products and Really make a Killer camera. How much more money would it cost to have a good 1080p 10bit 422 codec, and another CFast slot. It would be about perfect. And with the DPAF they could not make them fast enough. Who gives a crap if it bites into the C300, if you are selling thousands instead of 100's who cares what model number it has on it if you are the leader in that class..
  17. If you buy one new you are stuck with it like it or not unless you can afford to take a ass whipping selling it the next day. I am sorry I have seen hardly Anything from a GH5 I like. I am buying a Arri or a Sony F55 over a Varicam 35. I am not saying they are junk. I just don't like the way the have been going look wise in the past several years. I am probably in the minority on here about it I am sure.
  18. I have seen that film in a theater, Tetro" by Francis Ford Coppola. It was really good, but I was not so fond of his different uses of I would assume softer, sharper lens, filters I don't know. In people shots they were soft, on everything else it was really sharp. There was sudden changes of shots, and it just was, well crazy at times. I found it distracting as hell. Seemed like a rookie mistake. Not sure what he was thinking. I know you are suppose to use softer lenses on women in particular, but to have sudden transitions, well not so good.
  19. A red filter on B&W is a Pretty damn dramatic difference.
  20. Cheaper, hell it cost More than a FS5, and only a grand less than a FS7! I think it is going to be as big a dud as the AF100! A good camera, but not a notable one. And the GH5 with it's crap AF, and I would argue a even worse OOC look is going to go down as not so hot either. Panasonic better have this new GH5s the best thing since sliced bread or I think their goose is cooked on higher end cameras. Even the Varicam 35 isn't selling like they hoped. Right now Panasonic does not have one camera I would buy new over the competition.
  21. It is for some reason worse in the Dog scenes in the middle and Dog scene at the very end. It seems to be were big open expanses of snow are? I would not loose much sleep about it. If you can't see it maybe it's me. I am Old LoL.
  22. Yeah a green tint but not everywhere in the snow, but pretty big patches of it all over the place. I am using a HP IPS 30" calibrated 2k monitor. So I don't know if it is me or you?? I noticed it toward the end, but then it was ALL I noticed LoL. I didn't re watch it to see if it was in the beginning.
  23. Hell I would be more worried about your ass than the lens LoL!! Well I can tell you old lenses were pretty easy to to just about wipe off the coating in the 50's and 60's when cleaning them. So the real old ones I would be damn weary. It was pretty new tech back then.
