Hey I am a big to the original A7s fan. It has a grungy look to it and it is kind to women's faces! But I would argue this GH5s keeps up with the A7s mk II until 12,800. Above that no. But unless people shoot in bars like you do that is not a realistic need for the majority of people. And I can stick a speed booster on the GH5s and get a fast lens and overcome another stop maybe even 1 1/2 stop.

I find the Line in input very interesting also. Yeah TC for a Audio guy is sort of a Big thing LoL. AND TC works through the HDMI cable out also I heard on the Camera TV Store live thingy.

You make some damn good points in the above reply's IronFilm. This new GH5s is really a kick ass camera for the money. Yeah no IBIS is sort of ouch, but overall this is all anyone can expect for less than 5 grand and even more, other than like you said, ND Filters. If I was thinking of buying a EVA1, or even renting one, I would highly consider this. I think it is that good. I think most could live with the lacking what the EVA1 offers other than maybe the 14 stops of DR. And that is yet to be proven what the GH5s really does have. I just don't thing the ND filters are enough on the EVA1.

I agree to that. But this is new mo jo so it might not hold true anymore. And if it still does I say the Gh5s has 12 stops and the EVA1 has 14. Not a earth shaking difference especially when it all gets knocked down to Rec 709 with shit DR. And with Raw it should have even more.

If this thing is two stops better than the Gh5, and it is than it has two stops more DR that is pretty much how it works unless you prove me wrong.. A stop is doubling the amount of light. Each Aperture stop is a doubling of light. Same O same O, 1 Stop of DR is a doubling of light on a chart. And how You are saying the GH5s Only has 11 stops of DR. You have to admit the GH5s is better than the GH5 in low light, hence meaning the GH5 is only 9 or 10 stops. Could be I guess.I doubt it, but.. I guess we will all find out when the big boys do tests with charts and the like.

WelI I somewhat agree with you statement on VLog L. but take a look at the Video with Shawn speaking, and Shawn is one of the top Panasonic guys, at around 13:30 that he say the GH5s is 1 1/2 better at high ISO than the GH5 and the other guy, the Elephant guy, he says it looks more like 2 stops. So you are saying to me the GH5 Only had 10 stops DR and now the GH5s Only has 12.

Well we all must admit this thread has at least been exciting to put it mildly. You lost me with the FS700, that camera had the worse image ever in a Sony camera. I really doubt the GH5s is going to be proved to have a shitty output.

You stated it better than I could come up with. That is the big thing that makes this new camera a big thing. Plus I am shocked that Panny came out with this camera as soon after the EVA1 launch. The EVA1 has No EVF, and the LCD is worse than the GH5, GH5s. Amazing. I see no real reason to buy a EVA1 other than the form factor on a tripod with all the external buttons and the built in ND filters, which it doesn't have enough of anyway. You can't make it FF just s35 or APSC is you prefer. Then it will look even better, the GH5s that it is already.

There is no chart you have shown that shows a comparison of the EVA1 to the GH5s on a xyla chart,? That chart is just showing the Dual ISO thingy on the EVA1.

I would call two usable stops as a camera that has more stops. Eh not sure where you don't think that fact is true. So you think the very last stop of any camera is clean as hell. Just abruptly stops as a perfect clean look

THis is getting crazy. ANd this camera is as good as a A7s mk ii until 25,000 and even at. Who gives a shit about ISO 200000, 300000! This camera is made with no IBIS because Pros DON"T want IBIS. It is jittery as hell with it; You can never turn it off.

Well until we see the same tests side by side neither one of us can prove the other wrong or right. I know you could be right, it would seem logical Panny would not want a lower camera to beat out a higher priced one, but from what I have read it may be true or so damn close who cares.. I would argue this camera is a bigger breakthrough than the A7s was. Is is a little ass sensor doing as good as a big ass senor, so that does defy Physics. But since it is a Sony sensor I can almost bet what sensor the Sony A7s mkIII will have in it. It never ends. And then we will be back to normal Physics. But Sony can't lower the MP count as much as the Panasonic did.

No the GH5s has 14 stops. And how do you know sharpening Is going on. I have see two videos with side buy side and I think the GH5s looks better. I am sure we all are a bit wonky with all of this,. It will take a week or two before all the real facts come out, but I agree with you this new camera is as good as a A7s at 25,000 ISO. It is pretty crazy. The Sony then pulls ahead. But who the hell shoots any higher than 25,000.

For the same DoF or what? This new sensor throws the equivalence stuff out the door now. Somehow , hell I don't know the A7s has to have twice as high of f number to equal this GH5s. I have read so much my mind is wonky. It didn't take much to do that but... I am telling you this camera has changed the landscape in Video.

I say it is a Better camera than the EVA1. Less noise for one thing. Less rolling shutter, same DR, cost a 1/3 less, weighs less, smaller form factor, does anamorphic, has a multi aspect sensor, faster HD fps 240 versus 200, 60p in true 4k, need I go on. Only thing maybe the EVA has over the GH5s is is Maybe can do Raw down the road, but it has the same damn problem the 2DC had, Only 1 damn slot. I doubt many people will take advantage of it because of the cost to use it.

So then how do you explain the GH5s, Magic? I think your law of physics stuff went out the door. This small sensor is as good as a A7s mkII up top 51,000 ISO. It is a better sensor overall.

Well we will all have to do a lot more research to figure this thing out but this thing for the money I think is even better the the EVA1 may be. This thing is going to be scary good for video. In Vlog and dual native ISO's I think it is really better than the EVA1. And it is better in low light. Panasonic just gave us a bargain of the year camera for not much money. Now no doubt the Sony A7s mkIII is on the horizon so we will see, but they had better make some Really big changes or they are going to loose a lot of sales, because you know it will be a lot more expensive than 2500 bucks, and the cost of Sony FF glass, well that alone leaves me out of the picture.. I had NO desire to buy a GH5. I will admit I, if I can, will buy a GH5s. I think it is that good. The GH5s is a No Excuses camera, other than the loss of the IBIS and if you read why they got rid of it you will understand why they did it. Jittering on Tripods and car mounts etc. Apparently even when it is off it is not locked. DR's said it was the thing they hated most about the GH5. So they listened to the Pros and made us a better cam. Maybe not all around, but better for serious video. And they said it might make the thing overheat being closer to the body with Variable aspect sensor, and they didn't want to make the body any different I read also so every add on for the GH5 fit this new one.. Plus this GH5s is at least 2 maybe 3 stops better in low light, and has 14 stops of DR. Holly Crap. And to me it's output in Vlog is Way more Cinematic looking than the GH5.

Well this is not going to put Canon and Sony out of business, but this camera makes m4/3 nearly as good as FF and in some areas maybe even better. That alone is huge. A small camera with small lenses that cost less than the big boys on the same playing field. That is revolutionary in a sense. The GH5 didn't make that kind of impact, but I think this GH5s will.
