  1. Canon is still selling cameras like hot pancakes, they have been in the business for many years and will stay on it many more, the best example of this was Samsun NX1 experiment , great features but they were not able to sell enough units to stay in business, Canon cameras have the best image, everybody like it, yes, they are expensive, but the cameras have low depreciation, most of them retain their value for a long time and don`t become outdated the next year, there is a reason people still keep buying canon even in a crowded market with so many cheap options out there, if 5d IV get C-log and a better crop, even with the $500 update, I will be looking my wallet the next year waiting for a discount, extra many from heaven, whatever, to get one of this, and i am sure a lot of people will be doing the same…..
  2. My Gosh….another $500 update?
  3. Unfortunately the magic of canon colors stay with canon cameras, like you, I can't afford sony skintones, my advise to you, yes, sell that Sony cam and get a second hand 5d Mark III, it is just a pleasure the image and color you get from that camera, if you really need the DPAF, get a 70D, and if you have the money, get a C100, that camera gave you 1080p from a 4K readout, it is so cinematic, you probably will love the footage, the only inconvenient it is bulky, but you will look like a pro!!!
  4. Just when I was thinking some latest thread could be better placed in yellow press and I see this one who totally won place number one…..c'mon, to be honest I always laugh with Andrew's political thread, I usually differ from him, but that's life, we all have a different opinion in one point or another, the world will be really a bored place if we all think in the same way….
  5. WAW, this is very interesting, I think I will get one, thanks for the tip!!!
  6. Sounds good, what about the noise?, is it close to STM lenses?
  7. For IS and silent focus we are stuck with the STM line, but I have been surprised how silent is the 28mm 1.8 USM, and is totally ok for what I need, the 17-55 2.8 looks great, but not sure if there is an impact in the DPAF, noise, etc.....others USM are more limited to use, for example the 50mm 1.4 can not be used with DPAF, it sounds like a pruner!!!! @Tim Sewell could you please give us more light about the 17-55?, is it really noise or just a little?, how DPAF works on it?, compared to the 18-55 STM, which one will you use?
  8. yeap, the price for an online course is too high in today`s reality, you can pick up something similar at half of the price out there….
  9. Don`t worry, it was just a ad for a very expensive training course!!!
  10. By the way, the 18-135 you are talking about is the STM version, right?, if that is the case, are you using it with EF-S lens parameter ON?, what about peripheral illumination correction?, ON or OFF?
  11. I hope you are right, but if Canon provides internal 4K in the new C100iii everybody (who wants a Canon camera) is going to put their money there, and guess what, C300ii is not going to be selling at all, therefore I doubt Canon is going to do that, most probably external 4K, but I still hope you are right!!!!
  12. Internal 4K?, no way, Raw?, no way…..but probably if we are very lucky, they will include 4k output through the hdmi port….
  13. Canon is not going to do anything, no need at all, and Sony will continue doing the same thing, crapy skin-tones in 6-month depreciated cameras……GH5 is the big winner here, it is going to sell like french fries, I think the only that could have stopped in some portion the mayor GH5 Tsunami should have been the announcement of a pocket v2….
  14. To be honest I think the main reason that pros kept away from BM was the many issues with the first versions of their cameras, really a lot of problems, banding, low light performance, batteries, hot pixels, etc…..you named it and you can find it in BM cameras….the BM forum was certainly in fire those days with all the complains…...so now for a pro is really hard to trust in the new BM cameras, but the Ursa mini pro could probably change that perception, time will tell……..
  15. Well, now Blackmagic is doing exactly the same than everybody else, protecting their high end cameras, and what we want is a pocket version 2, probably for NAB, hope so, but they did it right this time, no shipping delays….this is a very welcomed improvement...
  16. Totally agree, it looks like a great camera, but still too heavy and expensive for my personal preferences….anyway BM is doing right this time, no more broken shipping promises...
  17. well, I guess you have not checked the following test comparison: In low light situations I will definitely go with an external recorder....
  18. And you are still complaining about the image?, could you please share some of your work with the C100 and the atomos shogun and tell us what is wrong with the images?.....could be camera operator lack of skills?
  19. Looks like you never used the C100 I or C300 I with a Ninja Star, you get pristine images from this combination, I highly recommend to add a Ninja Star to these cameras, specially in low light....and since the Ninja Star use generation one Cfast cards the cost is very affordable..... STM lens are incredible with the C100, I am just using the 18-135 and I am very happy.....what are you going to use for night shooting?, I am going with a Canon 50mm 1.4 and a Canon 28mm 1.8, but I would like to hear from other options out there.....

    DIY silks

Film riot showed a DIY betterfly frame some time ago, probably you can do something similar using the Ikea shower curtains....if you do please share your results later, I am also interested in something similar....
  21. Thanks for your feedback, actually I was going to buy that lens, but the weight is more than 800 grams, which is too much for run and gun, I am using the Canon 18-135 STM as my primary lens, since the DPAF is incredible and no noise at all, for the night I have the 50mm 1.4 and now I got the 28mm 1.8, I only have room in my backpack for 3 lens, so i was thinking to replace the 28mm 1.8 for the Sigma Art 30mm 1.4, but I am worry very few people is using it. How is your 30mm performing at night?, is it the Art version or the previous one?
  22. Only 3 more hours, like other members I am also waiting for a 4.6k sensor in a smaller body, but I doubt it, they now have to protect the Ursa mini, but 2.5k in the pocket with a new sensor also looks good....
  23. I am using a C100, and from people I trust the canon always had a good review, the first version of the Sigma had very bad reviews, always ranked far below the Canon, but I was thinking the new Sigma Art could have improved enough to surpass the Canon, but looks like almost nobody is using it, which also say a lot about it, I think I will just stay with the Canon and go safe…..
  24. I just saw an XC10 sold in ebay around $1,300……probably in just a few more months will go under $1,000….. @mercer will be happy to ear this news, at that price is very tempting for a B camera….
  25. For color correction DaVinci, but for everything else Premiere….
