  1. Most probably Ebrahim will become an urban legend in EOSHD in the next years, something used to afraid young filmmakers during summer camps
  2. For the price the g85 is a good choice, GH5 will be around 2K, that´s too much, plus the speedbooster, it is going to be a very expensive set up.
  3. check Canon C100 and C300, they are the cine line with an APSC sensor, they record in 4k downscaling to 1080p, today a C100 mk1 cost less than a 5D mrk IV, the image is so cinematic and the low light is fantastic, not to mention the skintones which are the best by far from any camera in the same price range. By the way, you also have Canon C-log, which is a plus.
  4. @Andrew Reid sorry if it was already answered but did´t have the time to read the whole topic, since this was made to bring C-log to DLSR, is there any benefit using in a C100?, can it be loaded in the C line cameras?, if not, is the package including any LUT´s that could be used with Canon original C-log in post to get some specific results with skintones?, thanks!
  5. Canon C100 for $1,799 at BH, with DPAF for $2,299, I just picket one there, you have to believe!!!
  6. There is a small difference, a C100 with an atomos is even better than a C300 (without atomos), and with prores 422 you can push further in davinci, and what I like about this camera is that it is so cinematic, if It has 4K will be my dream camera (of course keeping this price, $12,000 for a 4K C300 mKII is impossible for my wallet). BTW, the original without DPAF sold out in two days, so a lot of people took advantage of this price cut, I went for the DPAF because of I am also planing to use it with a steadicam, and I can now forget about the focus, less work, much better!
  7. I finally picked up the C100, the one with dual pixel, BH just lowered the price to $2,300, an even lower price than I was seeing for a second hand in ebay, I will add it an atomos ninja star and I will be ready to gun&run, the good thing is that this model will depreciate really low during the next two years, much less than any other camera so I will get at least 2/3 of the camera value if I decided to sell it next year…..I wish canon fixed the issue in the XC line with the next XC20, if that happens I will probably switch to it.
  8. Mark iv is too expensive for what it is, really don´t know much about nikon, I know you like it, can you comment about it?, Fuji x-t2 could also be an alternative….but I think if gh5 is released on feb-march next year it will be wise to wait a little….but who knows, may be I will just press the buy bottom anytime for a canon anyway….:(
  9. Well, Pvandall just reported his new XC15 has ghosting too, and I put my trust in any EOSHD forum member before any Canon representative, it has been weeks since other forum members reported the issue and no word from Canon…. Probably now I will have to wait for the gh5 too, but I really wanted a Canon, the skintones are the best for me, dam it!!!!
  10. Yeah. I have been thinking about the C100, but I get used to work in 4K, the re-frame is something I really love to have like an option, I own a R1 MX and I am looking for a camera that allows me to do gun&run, I am starting a doc next year and I need to travel light with the camera so the R1 can not be used, if the C100 is reading from a 4k sensor, have anyone upscaled it to 4K?, how does it looks like?
  11. Agree, this is quality control, and since looks like some cameras didn´t have the issue, most probably is related to hardware than firmware, which make very dangerous to buy any of this cameras, really sad, I was saving to go for the XC15 thinking it was free of ghosting, now I will have to go another route, and the problem is that I like Canon look more than any other camera in the market…..
  12. How is this possible?, what could be different?, very strange….which probably could means also some XC10 are free of ghosting….
  13. OMG!!! the XC15 was supposed to be free of ghosting, No way, looks like some cameras works OK and others don´t, too risky, this is really bad news, ohhh boy!!!!
  14. @Andrew there is a real Syrian here with family actually living in Syria who is telling you that Russia intervention has saved lives there, why do you don`t believe him?
  15. So sad about what is going on in Syria, and certainly like in the cold war the demon is always Russia, glad to hear there are REAL Syrians here who are telling the truth about what is really going on there....
  16. One think that really amaze me, is the fact how low is the depreciation of Canon cameras, C100 mark I have kept the same price in the second hand Market for almost a year, and also the skintones are so great in all Canon lines, the only think keeping me to get one is that I love to shoot in 4K, WHY CANON YOU SCREWED UP THE XC10? did you get a better picture?, any comparison in a video?
  17. G85 also looks very good, to be honest I have not watched videos about that camera, what are the main differences with the GX85?, does it have the same skintones?, any advantages?
  18. 5d with ML is a powerful machine, but to process the files from it is suck a pain, and the price is in the next range from 2000 to 3000, so it will be competing with the URSA mini 4K, the XC15 and others
  19. Mercer, XC10 will the best in 1000-2000 range if it wasn`t for the ghosting, so sad Canon is not doing anything to fix it, XC15 is a little expensive, when that camera go bellow US$2000 will be a killer, if that happens. GX85 for cameras between 500-1000 is the best by far, even is better than several in the 1000-2000 range. I would like to hear others about they though for best cameras in these ranges ether

    Film School

If you are coming from a different field of study i think it is a great idea to take a post-grade, yes, you can learn everything working on the field, but certainly since you already have another degree, you will learn very quickly from school training, just don`t get crazy and took a huge debt for this post-grade, look for something affordable to you and the most important get feedback from people who already completed the post-grade you are interested in. Good luck!
  21. Mercer, are you upgrading to the XC15?
  22. Storytelling is king, but if I was able to create an excellent script, why not to use the best gear to make my art to shine even more?
  23. Your work is good, but I really don`t like at all the orange skintones, it is just a personal taste, probably people not involved in cinematography can not see it at all, and that`s OK, at the end I guess is a personal preferences after all.
  24. At the end the free vacation are more expensive, the ideal is to find a friend who is going to US a can bring you a camera from there, but I think the US price for the GH5 is going to be US2,000+ anyway in the states, so screw up Panasonic, for that price a better option is the XC15, and the camera depreciation is far away the less in the market, you can easily get more than 2/3 of the investment in any Canon camera after a year using it for any project....
  25. To be honest, I am not fan of the E-M1 II, the skintones are not what I expected from what I have seen, but certainly is a much, much better option, a totally usable camera, and only 500 boxes more expensive, and I just read in another topic that the GH5 is going to cost most probably US$2,000+, which is ridiculous, really crazy, so after all the A6500 is going to survive even been a crappy camera. I am not going to waste my money anymore and will go the Canon route, most probably XC15, I really want to have 4K, just waiting for a good sale next black Friday!!!!
