frontfocus got a reaction from Cinegain in NOPE! Canon did NOT remove 24p from the 90D and EOS M6 II to save H.264 licensing fees
Fuji didn't get the memo, that 24p adds a lot of cost to the camera. They just introduced their entry level camera.
    6K to 4K downsampling, 23.98p, 24p, 25p, 30p, all without a crop it seems. 699$ including kit lens.
No 120p Full HD slow mo though. It's said, that will come early 2020 with an update.

Overall it looks like a great budget camera. Too bad it didn't get Eterna film simulation.

    'Electronic Image Stabilizer
Canon has also added an image stabilizer for the first time in a cinema camera. They call it a 5-axis image stabilizer, so it’s technically not an IBIS because it’s fully electronic.'
It's just that it has an accelerometer built-in noticing the changes in the 5-axis giving better chances to correct for unwanted motion artifacts/wobble, so better than 'we'll fix it in post with warp stabilizer', but still digital correction inducing a crop.

Funny. Actually it was Fujifilm that introduced eye AF to video a year ago with the X-T3. So yes, other cameras can do that
I don't think this post was about a pros and cons list.
    It was about two things:
    1. Sony not introducing new hardware like a new, higher performing sensor
    2. Sony not doing anything new with it's codecs. XAVC-S has been out like what? 6 years? Back that it was state of the art. But at the moment, Sony is lagging behind by quite a bit.

Those things need to be pointed out. It's like a kick in the a**. Otherwise Sony might become like Canon and only introduce marginal updates, maybe even removing features.

What was to stop Sony using their own Fuji X-T3 sensor in the A6600 and at least make it compete?
Or was the sensor a Samsung part after all?
Is Sony really telling APS-C users in 2019 that they don't quite have the technology to do 4K/60p or reduced rolling shutter on a crop sensor? No 10bit?
Honestly buying a 2016 cam in 2019 just seems a bit of a waste of time.

Its good to know that a couple of clouds was enough to save the Sonys. Finding shelter won't be doable for what I do in the summer but for some it of course is.

Personally, the A7riv is the first interesting model since the original A7. So I'm not hating on it. I actually wish I could justify the cost..
    ..But...
Hilarious irony for someone who has been told a million times that I'm an idiot for shooting a camera with 2016 video specs.. only to see Philip Bloom of all people point out that the Sony flagship is using 2015 video specs.. I spilled my coffee laughing.
(And to be fare to Canon, it at least has 400mbit and 10-bit out with it's 2016 specs.)

Well done for discovering the upmost shit on YouTube that sums up everything I hate about the worst YouTuber tendencies. That is quite some find.
    HYPE HYPE HYPE
Shilly McShillFace and his background porno musak, says the SEPERATE QUICK FUNCTION MENU is a MAJOR VIDEO FEATURE as he puts a 1000 watt grin on.

Who needs a 10bit codec or 4K/60P when you have THAT kind of advancement in the market place?!?!

No---No--- wait for it...waaaait for it...
YOU CAN SAVE YOUR MENU SETTINGS IN A FILE!
(Although if you format the card they vanish)
    Video then ends...
And it's his sponsor ad for next hour (at least it felt like an hour).
Oh and there's EYE AF. But of course, you make far more advertising money from a 6 minute YOUTUBE HYPE PIECE than a one line blog post saying:
Big new features for video: EYE AF. Erm that's about it. (End of article).
I'll zip the original JPEGs up and send you to Spec Savers if it helps?
Also Canon CS is the most consistent across camera bodies... Speaking from someone who actually has a 5D Classic, a 1D C and EOS R in front of me right now.

    Sony A7S II:

Canon 1D C same shoot, same day, same light, same girl:

Sony A7S II (The Death Cam):

Canon 1D C, 10 seconds later SHE LIVES!

    Sony ZombieCam Mark II:

    Canon 1D C ?

Funnily enough these 1D C JPEGs direct from the card looked much better on one of my Macs compared to the other, so monitor profiles and display settings matter as well.
Although it's not just the camera...
I also agree with the point @Mattias Burling is making about colour in RAWs.
Minimum effort counts for a lot. Who wants to go manually correcting 1000's of RAW files?
    What a fucking ball ache!
Default colour in RAW matters just as much. No matter what software you use, you want to open it and do a few simple changes or preset moods and have it singing.
    Same with video and LOG.
Sony A7 III got a bit better for colour, but I still don't use it much.
The other thing that matters is white balance, and even the lens. Lenses can have different colour biases.
Pro Color exists for a reason I didn't create it on a whim. It solves a real issue with Sony's video processing and I should do the same for their RAW stills as well!
Be honest with yourself... have you used Venice CS? Or are you parroting a second hand experience of it versus Canon? Again same thing with the Nikons... You've got to use them on a subject, then decide.

Correct, when you get fired for taking all day to color correct a couple of hundred images it is your fault..
That color science doesn't affect raw is an internet myth. But believe what you want.
Yup, anyone that has used more than one camera will experience it first hand.

Nope, going to continue defending the cutting edge Fuji in light of this new threat posed by the Osmo with it's smartphone sensor.
It's just a fact that the Fuji can do a lot more. Not really controversial although facts in 2019 do seem to be. People rejecting them left right and centre.
Camera movement versus quality of a locked down shot is a different topic and applies to all sorts of kit. There are not many cameras that float like an airborne slider, such as the Osmo is able to do, but comparing it to medium format just denies all sorts of technical and lens related FACTS

Yes I am. And no the look is not. This is 2019, not 1999. We are not comparing SD to 8K. We are looking at 4K on each. And I would imagine the Vast majority of people would pick the Osmo, and a lot has to do with every shot Not being locked off like the Fuji is. Pretty boring ass footage in my view. The days of stuck up ass Leica, MF cameras are over. The GH5 proves that. The gap has narrowed so far in the last few years it is mind blowing. For video the Fuji is a waste of money and time. For Photos sure, but we Ain't talking about that.
I don't understand why I am an old turd willing to experiment and explore, and a lot of younger people are just stuck in the past. What Nostalgia, Oh I missed the boat thing?  They are just tools, you aren't married to them. Use every freaking thing out there. These new things are a gift from heaven compared to what I grew up with.

The Osmo Pocket is a very cool little tool but we all know there is a massive difference in the look.

SD cards: either get the San Disk Extreme Pro 95MB/s, Sony M (260MB/s, 100MB/s) or buy into the really expansive stuff, like the best UHS-II cards.
Usb c cable: do you need one? For Power Delivery most of them work, I wouldn't buy into the really expansive once, unless you use to tether which you don't, since you are into video only
Display cover: don't use one, no scratches.
Minolta adapter: doesn't matter, it's just a dummy adapter, get the cheapest one you can.
