@Andrew Reid Some food for thought as winter is coming. EOSHD is already a big and healthy community. Guess what could compliment your site...
Right! A bunch of servers. It does't have to implement personal funding. I would prefer paying a fee to you and this community than any company to store my videos.
Not big enough to be subject to those silly regulations. Big enough for your videos to reach your audience.

Sure, that is the basic way embedding a video onto a webpage today. If that’s all you need you are good to go ?
However if you need stats or having the minimum ambition regarding the player functionality and looks it is another story.
And more importantly the distribution on the internet. The user experience.
If you want your 1080p or 4K video to play relatively fast forget about uploading it to your shared web host plan thinking that is it.
To perform well and stream fast the video has to be hosted on a good CdN too
Further more people are used to adaptive streaming. Not just one bitrate version of the video being downloaded. It is more important than ever since many are watching using their phone on the go.
It seems simple but for high performance delivery and smooth experience the embed code is just a very small part of the equation.

These are all valid points. I am going to try this anyway and give you guys some feedback here. The plans are monthly so it won't be o costly test.
We can do some other tests too. I can post a video here and you can give me some feedback about it's playback performance.
The facts are solid though. YouTube is low quality, Vimeo is unreliable and all the alternatives are expensive, at least for the majority of users.
So we can push this further from being a debate to a collective effort towards a simple and clean solution. Apparently we are not trying to cover an extreme scenario, say a website with 2000 visitors a day and 4 digit number of videos. Something like this would produce a significant amount of income so the cost would not be a problem.
Let's put down a typical scenario, something like a 100 video portfolio collection and 50-100 visitors a day. Would a dedicated server nail this? I don't know...
But if there is a place we can address this it's this forum.
I think we lean towards Cloud Storage VS Dedicated Server, money wise.

I just did a quick search on dedicated servers & pricing. Prices start from 8 bucks/month to 100 for a dedicated server (dual core Atom, 2 TB of storage and unmetered traffic for the cheapest option) and there is also the solution of a virtual machine where your data are being copied to different machines and stay intact in case of a hardware failure. You can rent a virtual machine with 18 bucks/month for 100GB of storage (again with unmetered traffic and 100mbps speeds).
It seems like a solid solution. A little more expensive than vimeo but definitely cheaper than Wistia, Vzaar etc. You can always split the cost between associates.
We just did a test by uploading an HD clip on our site's host and playing it through a free video plugin for wordpress and it worked fine. The video plays instantly (i can't say this for vimeo) and you can upload three different versions for different devices.

Agreed. Let alone his eye on the best second half to always pop up from those devices and glass, I guess this only might end into a bit of envy, as matter of fact : ) Hope to not lose from my sight anyway ; ) Kudos lucky man, you have no need of anything more... : -) Really, I have no idea where you find time : D to yet shoot and care to share ; -) Thanks @DBounce !

I don't know exact skin tone colour of the man and the lighting, i would say the fuji must be the closest followed by the Nikon and then the Canon and Sony. Unless the light is golden hour in this case, if I was the guy I would immediately go to hospital to check if I any liver or bladder problem.

So, let me get this straight...
A forum member (who contributes a lot to this place by the way) makes a cautionary post about having two separate failures of a camera model that many people on here may be looking to buy and the response is to criticise his work ?
Are you trying to suggest he broke these cameras by virtue of taking photographs that you don't particularly like ?
    Have I got that right?
That both of these cameras self destructed on the grounds of taste?
Because if you are not suggesting that then you need to accept that your contribution to this particular thread is as irrelevant as it is mean spirited.

Talking like that about the work of others on this forum with no sufficient reason happens once in a while. @DBounce I wouldnt care about the contents of comments like the one above. It lacks a valid point and emphathy as well. I like your work and contributions very much. They dont have to have Spielberg shotdesign nor Storarro colors all the time.

Jesus, what happened to keeping criticism constructive and supportive? I came to this forum hoping to find a community of likeminded film makers interested in the new possibilities of smaller, cheaper cameras, and I stayed because of the variety and frequency of discussions. This forum always seems to be more on top of new news than others.
But lately it's all been about attacking other blogs and youtubers, denigrating your peers, and now giving really harsh and insensitive criticism to each other.
I would never post my own work in this forum now. I wouldn't expect to receive any useful criticism from a place where there are so many thin-skinned, insecure and defensive people.
Of course there are many intelligent, experienced and positive people here too, but they increasingly seem to keep their heads down these days.

Not sure what you mean by that. I don't make a dime from photos and video, it's only something I do for fun... And last I checked cameras do not deserve people... Cameras are inanimate objects. If taking personal pictures of my family is not deserving... well you can go fuk yourself. I don't recall begging you for the $15k I dumped into the Fuji system. And for the life of me I fail to recollect you chipping in for the $30k plus for the 1DXMk2 with lenses and support gear. So to that end who cares what you think deserves what?
I simply shared my personal experience and you look at it as an opportunity to launch a personal attack. Having hardware fail is not "fun" in my experience. But if you enjoy that aspect.. well, what can I say... have fun?

So it's been a little over a month since I purchased my first FujiFilm X-T3 body. About two weeks after purchasing the first body I became convinced that this camera was very special. It was fun to shoot with. It reignited my desire to shoot stills. When it came to video the X-T3 seemed more than capable. I decided to refine my lens collection, adding the 23mm F2, 35mm F2, 16mm F1.4 and 56mm F1.2. Later I add the magnificent MKX18-55mm T2.9. All of these lenses performed to my highest expectations.
I can tell you after this short period of owning these cameras that they can capture some truly lovely images. The in camera profiles are great and very inspiring to work with. The whole experience is really quite wonderful... well, that is it was. I am getting rid of the whole system.
Why? Well, the second body decided to quit. The screen froze up and would just blink. A quick call to Fuji tech support revealed that the hardware had failed. I called to get a return authorization, which was granted. I decided not to go for an exchange, instead opting to wait and see how the first body held up. Today, I went out to shoot some pictures for a project we are doing. Upon arriving at the location I grabbed the X-T3 out of my bag and flipped the switch to power it on... NOTHING! Absolutely nothing. No lights, no screen lighting up, no power up at all. I tried different batteries. Still nothing. I tried pulling the battery and holding down power, then re-inserting the battery and attempting to power up again. Still nothing. Finally I tried the one thing I knew would work. This technique has never failed me.... I went home and grabbed my Canon 1DXMk2. Needless to say the shoot was completed. But the Fuji's are paper weights.
I'm done with FujiFilm. It's all going back. It's packed up... I will not buy another one. In my experience they are not fit for serious use. Heck, they are not fit for even casual use. I had spoken highly of them in the past, but this experience with not one... but two bodies failing is enough for me. Lesson learned.

I have plenty of AIS/AI lenses that are ready to fit right on the FTZ adaptor, and my 50mm f1.2 will be a lot easier to focus on mirrorless than my DSLR.
Novoflex adaptors are ready already for most mounts, and much cheaper ones will be along as soon as demand ramps up.

Yeah they don't hold back! But if you take their recommendations for the Threadripper and substitute for parts that are closer to your budget you can get to a pretty good place. For example the 16 core 1950X is like $1200 AUD but the 12 core 1920X is $600 AUD -- I'd doubt the 16 core is twice as fast as the 12. Plus the guide has pretty good pointers to stop you from overspending on stuff you don't need, like going to 32gb RAM when they only recommend 16 etc.

I edit off a 1st Gen TouchBar Macbook Pro 15 and I can handle the 4k from my X-H1 ok. But if you're editing h264 material you need CPU cores -- the more the better. Or you transcode / generate optimised media. My advice would be to buy a balanced system -- don't spend all your money on a super fast GPU and not enough on a CPU, don't spend too much on the compute bits and forget about fast storage. If anything get more storage than you think you need -- you can transcode to wring better performance from slower systems, but if you're out of disk space it's a pain in the arse (and incredibly time consuming) to have to juggle and move things around to accommodate.

Yes sorry I got confused with the OP asking for multiple GPU use. Resolve should use the GPU for rendering if it's configured correctly but I think playback is CPU based. I've spent ages optimising the various settings in Resolve to optimise performance while watching the resource monitor in Windows.

Well the Nikon Z7 is a $3500 pro camera. Does Max really think the people who buy it are going to use it on the default settings out of the box and not even explore the different automatic WB presets which would have fixed Bart Simpson and the other picture styles such as Flat which would give more control of colour in post?
It's not a mom & pa's camera. It's a professional mirrorless camera and he's testing it like a bloody iPhone or a point & shoot.
It's just an excuse for lazy testing and gettin' it out quick.
Sadly he has 100,000s views and the good guys who WAIT do not. That's what happens when you have no editorial control over a network (YouTube) and promote stuff based on FIRST and VIEWING STATS.

I'm not saying it's a bad camera, quite the opposite, but for my line of work I need something else.

    Things I'd ideally like -
    1. I need it to be sealed enough to shoot at a beach (that's where I do my work), exposed fan intake is a big no go.
    2. Ibis would help a ton, although I could live without it.
    3. I'd like 4:3 mode.
    4. Anamorphic de-squeeze if possible.
    5. Tilt or flip screen for filming fisheye low down.
    6. Form factor I could fit in my existing Aquatech housing if possible (same one I use for 7D, 5D, GH5, EOS elan7e).

Those are a few of the things I can think of. I don't even need a 5D styled body, I could live without that part if they added the other things. I'd pay an extra 1000AUD for such features.

    Ursa is too big!
I have expressed my opinion about my most preferred camera, a Canon C100 mini/XC something, with XC15 form factor, EF-M mount and improved ergonomics for 2-3000€, and then Canon released the C200 which is almost a 10.000€ camera, and realized that Canon don't really gets it.
While C100 and C300 dominated the market for years, FS5 and FS7 cameras have been the norm in most productions I am working lately, and BM is starting to be relative in productions.
After the R release, I do not expect anything of them, and I have to move on with a plan B. So, right now, it is Sony, or BM, and I do not particularly like the FS5 or the Ursa that much to spend 6-8.000€ for one of those. So, I would rather spend 3.000€ to rig a Pocket4K at the moment!
I do not like adapters, and m43 sensors, the specific dual ISO - slightly bigger - sensor offsets makes it more appealing for a video camera (I would never use a small megapixel camera for pro photography), but still I would spend double the money for an S35 small video camera.
If BM can make an amazing m43 one for 1350€, why not a similar one S35 for 2499 or 2999€??!! Still it would be half the price, and size, of Ursa.
