  1. Wasn't macroblocking fixed with higher bitrate hack, regardless of version? (I'm asking because I haven't had the chance (slow card) to try any of the hacks.)
  2. Ursa would be a no-go for me, given its high frequency of negative reviews from users. So it'll have to be Red. But if it were really up to me, I'd wait a month for the Kinefinity Terra.
  3. Ahhhhhhhhhh, that's insane. I wonder if the DS1 could even do that (I think H2 is a lot bigger if I'm not wrong). Speaking of which, my DS1 arrived today! Can't wait to try it out.
  4. http://www.amazon.com/Power2000-ACD-429-Rechargeable-Battery-Samsung/dp/B00T6S9UMQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1462983127&sr=8-1&keywords=power2000+samsung+bp1900 This has been quite reliable for me. The only downside is, when I was shooting a documentary in a high altitude, cold weather environment, I found battery life could jump from 30% to Change Battery just like that. They really needed to be kept warmer than my Samsung batteries (which too, to be fair, had a tough time). That's where a camera like Sony would have the advantage. =P
  5. By that logic, once the average SD/CF card exceeds a certain speed benchmark, performance should be off the charts. That's good news.
  6. Magic Lantern has shown us that Canon could have done a lot more if they wanted ages back. But it's just not in their DNA. It's not pessimism if it's grounded in reality.
  7. We all know this isn't going to happen. And if it does, expect it to exceed C300 II in pricing. It'd be easier to convince Samsung to bring a full frame version of NX1 from the dead.
  8. I use the Tiffen ND variable, which seems to help with the NX1.
  9. Thanks for the test. Would love it if you could include some handheld panning shots in future tests (to see how it affects the motion cadence).
  10. Thanks! Was worried about it not being "hack-proof", especially for the new higher bitrate video files.
  11. Why isn't Lexar 2000x's performance way better considering the card speed? Camera's internal reader is crippling it?
  12. Thanks, I did follow your lead and look into Panasonic batteries and found these.
  13. My Beholder DS1 is coming around May 8th. Quite excited. Any advice and links on your choice of 3.7 volts (18650 - what's that?) spare batteries for the DS1?
  14. Compressed raw (since it's a small sensor), rolling shutter that is close to global shutter. And a new pony.
  15. The D3 sounds promising. Something I might actually add to my setup as a backup (or even as a main mic).
  16. https://***URL not allowed***/kinefinity-terra-5k6k-a-closer-look-at-the-chinese-mini-cinema-camera/
  17. Really nicely put together. Can I ask, how do you achieve such transitions?
  18. Maybe the press release was in Chinese.
  19. What about length of battery life with the v-mount (v-lock?) batteries on the KINEback?
  20. So with a v-mount battery, wouldn't that last almost all day?
  21. The Sony BP-U30? That's insane. I thought I saw them rig up a v-mount size battery in the videos.
  22. I love the size of the Terra. But I was wondering what kind of portable power solutions do users of such camera utilize for long day shoots without electricity nearby? Just carry a lot of V-mount batteries?
  23. Perhaps the dual gain mode, although it makes no sense why 15 stops is in the 5k model only.
  24. I'm a little confused, The KineGuy said you can use the body without the extra back attached. I assume there isn't another battery in the original body. Also, I saw the Raven (and perhaps most Red cameras) are able to power the camera through an extension cable leading to a V-mount battery. Is this a normal feature with most cinema cameras (and Terra)? I could totally see me using it just with the body alone, with everything else in a bag pack.
