You can but not in 4K, or at least not been able to so far, I have mine set up to capture stills in normal HD you just hold the shutter button and it says capture on the screen, you have to enable it in the menu

Absolutely agree. You just take that little thing on a walk and get great video – even handheld. That's why I wanna get rid of my other cameras and get the A7RII as an A-cam, pure convenience. In terms of stills, the RX just isn't enough for me, no night time photography doable with that small sensor and poor assists. Before I thought "hey, you might need this and that and a follow focus and whathaveyou", but I now realize that I will probably always be a one man gig and because of that I wanna stay light and simple above all things. So I need image stabilization and decent AF for times I can't do it manually. And the RX10II just works in these departments.

since the a7s came out last year i have spent way too much time reading about slog2 and being intimidated by it... because it turns out i didnt need to be...! its p easy to deal with as long as you have some crucial prior knowledge (lol). so in that spirit heres a few Quick Start Tips
    • the slog2 output of the rx10m2 is very similar (perhaps virtually identical) to the a7s in terms of dynamic range and how it handles color –– so all that info is totally relevant and theres a ton of it out there~!
    • slog2 has a base iso on these cameras which is your only option: the a7s base is 3200 and the rx10m2 is 800. as you may know the rx10m2 has a built in nd, so that can be handy, but i dont think that its variable in any way, its either "on" or "off". anyway, this base iso thing is something to be aware of: you cant just dial down to iso 200 like with the other picture profiles
    • as far as color goes, avoiding sgamut entirely may be a good idea. i used the "pro" color settings posted on the previous page as a starting point, and decided to dial down the saturation a tad, the yellow even more, and the magenta just a bit. this has easily produced naturalistic color which doesnt require a lut to make it look halfway normal –– just some curves and saturation to taste. what you want to do with the settings in PP7 (slog2) is up to you of course and depends on the aesthetic of your project~!
    • slog2 needs to be overexposed on these cameras –– 2-3 stops depending on who you want to listen to –– otherwise its a noisy hot mess. ive gotten great results throughout that range
ok!!!! i am not nearly as smart as most of the posters on this board but like i said it took way too much of my life to gather this information so i hope that helps a bit
other posters PUHLEASE correct me if i am wrong in any of this or something should be added or something!!!

Personally I would take the GH4 if it were similarly priced to what you would spend on that A7R!
    It's not a great image.

Buy used. Pick up two A6000s or a couple G7s. Hell, two D5500s or just one D750 would be a much better hybrid setup. The A7R just isn't good enough compared to everything else you can get for the same money.

A MIR-11 so I can get close ups with my Bayonet K3 as well as my M42 Model. Won't cover the "s16" gate but still worth it for the focus distance.

Yes, I have one of the 2 sitting in front  of me right now. Haven't shot a single slow motion clip, even though I have a hyper chihuahua and a cat to get the best slow mo shots you have seen!   More interested in checking the dynamic range on the picture profiles and how the lens operates. Looking good so far. Throwing them straight onto a decent budget music video next week for some guerrilla narrative stuff. (Performance was shot in FS7 - used 150fps only twice, ha!).
URSA Mini? Plenty to be getting on with. It comes when it comes.

I've resisted the urge to upgrade yet again. I did some extensive shooting this weekend and put the RX100IV through its paces along with the A7s. The A7s had the Zeiss 55mm 1.8 and the RX has of course another Zeiss built in. I shot both a lot of 4K and 100 fps with the RX and it never got to warm. I had the same PP on both cameras. S-log2 with detail way down and saturation at +20. A giwaway is of course the DOF on many shots that is the A7s but the clips match very well I think. What do you think? If you love american cars this is for you...

    you saw this, yes?
zach: you need to find a way to get your data off your cards and back them up asap in triplicate on set
when you get a shot that works, on set, that memory card is like a f------ piece of gold. you need to back that sumbitch up; not just so that you can reuse your storage, thats an added benefit. you need the security of knowing that your precious shots arent going to disappear at the literal push of a button
also, i was not being sarcastic about stone cold steve austin; i love wrestling. and, to answer my own question, i think that, yes, austin will return at wrestlemania 32, its his last best opportunity. that and hes lost about 35lbs recently

    Get it now
I have just released a Setup Guide for the Samsung NX1. This guide makes the camera compatible with a range of LUTs so you can more easily apply stylistic moods to 4K footage in post.
Along with the LOG conversion workflow, the guide explains the best settings for the NX1 and what you must know before using it for video work.
The Samsung NX1 is one of my favourite cameras for video and the 4K image quality is simply the best you can get for the money right now.
I have been hard at work on a guide for a while now. This is essentially a 'brain dump' of everything I know about the NX1.
It is an all-in-one reference so you no longer have to search forums for the information and the 12 page arguments that goes with it.
The LUT and workflow included with the book, I am particularly proud of. This converts footage shot with GammaDR on the NX1 to ultra-flat LOG in post. When used with a transcoding app like EditReady it creates 10bit ProRes with a Canon LOG style gamma curve and saturation. This allows you to then apply a LUT in your NLE such as the excellent DELUTS range from James Miller. The whole process is made easy to understand in the book and the camera becomes so much more fun for colour correction as a result.

    I agree.
Ive been busy and have only just begun my tests with the camera but i can say with confidence that the 120fps is legitimately sharp at 1080p as others have mentioned. ive only shot 100mbs so far. gradability (is that a word? lol) has exceeded my expectations
also the dynamic range slog2 is capable of when exposed properly is astounding with this camera, and using it at 120fps makes me feel like this lil guy cost a lot more than $1300
    most of all its fun
