  1. slightly off topic, but i just bought a bunch of these (and all of them work?!) from amazon

super cheap, uses all kinds of batteries including sonys and AAs, [somewhat] dimmable, gelable, lousy build quality but so lightweight you can tape them to anything, and hey theyre borderline disposable at $30~!

i just needed a bunch of rim lights for an outdoor shoot i did recently, and amazingly, they worked out great~! everyone got a kick out of the box lol

good to kno about the grip!!

  2. v impressed but this. super analogue-y. excellent motion cadencemo

Intentionally back focused for 60's level of sharpness

disturbing how much i like this

Also, if the blackness of the material is significantly proportionate to its light (and presumably heat -- cooling must be a pain) collecting abilities, I'd be interested to see what they'd make of the blackest man-made material, carbon-nanotube that absorbs 99 percent of light.

    so goth

  3. this is good feedback.

i say: great, youre keeping the 5d3, definitely try magic lantern raw like these guys said if you havent before. see if youre as blown away by the naturalism and color as people like me are, and if not, all good, shoot video with a highly capable a7s~!

i appreciate cost being an issue, so why not get that used a7s, spend time with it and see how you like it, and if you love it you could sell it and put that $ towards an a7sii in the near future~! who knows, after you use the a7s, you might not even be in a hurry to upgrade ;)

  4. Thanks! Not too inclined to go into drug taking habits on a public forum but do feel free to send me a PM with specific ideas regarding ecstasy.

If sound/music is to be adjusted midway into the scene, would probably boost bass and treble while reducing the mid-tones and find a way to make it sound fuzzy but detailed if that's possible. Shots could transition from medium to close-ups within the scene. Whip pans and the "invisible cut" editing technique discussed in the watchtower of turkey thread over at the main forum could help, too. Maybe a slight color shift to the warmer side.

i like all your ideas. after some contemplation, i would say that ecstasy isnt particularly visual, but its something you feel very deeply, in an emotional and moreover physical way, and so an aural approach to this sounds good to me (sounds lol)

im not suggesting that the visuals shouldnt get "trippy", cuz they should, but id really play with the sound design as far as deeeep resonant sounds, where you can feel the vibrations through a good sound system. p much try to make a $400 pair of beats headphones explode lol

visually, i like where youre going like i said, my thought there is that if it was my piece id experiment with after effects to create a bit off a buzz, a vibration, focused around the focal point of the shots, particularly intense when people are speaking...

something fairly subtle, but a visual effect that gives a sense of vibration... a pulsing, humming... buzz. hmm im at a loss for adjectives atm but hopefully that makes some sense??

  5. Kaylee,

Hi Rand!!! omg just to be clear those comments totally werent directed to you at all~!!! just the first one ;)

    im with you 100%!!!!

when i was brand new to this and i was like LUTs what are LUTs? i was confused by reading stuff where users would refer to luts as a thing like an instagram filter that just colors your dslr footage - not that theres anything wrong with that lol - versus a log conversion process that is of course very different. confusing if all this is new to you! thats what i was talkin about

in goth news i just finished a new fine art piece thats basically a four foot tombstone with my name on it. it came out p good!!! its not 100% done actually but the couple people who have seen it both said "Beetlejuice!" and thats totally what i was going for so thats great. anyway it was raining outside so i had to bring it indoors and its next to me towering over my bed right now in my room and its goth af lolol

  6. i like how you mentioned sound bc thats huge, id really go deep with that

have you ever been on ecstasy? do you want more specific feedback?

i dont mind saying: the only benefit of surviving a life of drug addiction is that you can SPEAK ON SHIT LIKE THIS

i have NEVER seen a film about heroin addiction that depicts that experience at all realistically smh. but, ykno, trainspotting was based on someone elses book etc etc

  7. Some times you have to look at

Hi Rand!!!! do we have a new goth?? hi????

yeah so, i feel like for new readers there could be some confusion after perusing this thread regarding the dichotomy between a discussion of subjective color grading, "looks" if you will, and the potential for pleasing color from the new a7sii [using slog3]. two totally different things, for the uninitiated

also ~ a lot of these lut looks are reductive in nature in terms of color; fewer, flatter colors, which in my experience is definitely the case natively with slog2&3 relatively speaking, so the two have really gotten along swimmingly since the a7s blew up. not saying thats good or bad, thats another discussion

that being said, im gonna take a positive stance on the new a7sii slog3 footage and say that it looks ~WAY~ better than slog2 from the a7s

  8. YES!!!!! this thread is on fiyaaa ?

What do you mean by "other intelligent life"? I didn't know there was "intelligent life" on earth.

RIGHT!!!!! imagine this: a civilization advanced enough to harness the power of a star. how smart are THEY

hopefully theyre nice, i wasnt very nice to the ants that invaded my kitchen recently

Having said that, it's in mankind's best interest not to try and look for life on other planets or even in other galaxies.

if theyre anything like us that is definitely true lol

i think people can handle the news now but undoubtedly not in the past. if i was president during the height of the cold war and a ufo crashed on the white house lawn id have a press conference where id march out my press secretary wearing a ridiculous alien costume to mock the whole thing and id call it a weather balloon and be done with it

  9. I don't know what it is, but I feel really strange when I use the camera. I just don't feel right in myself, even though the results are fine.

My next personal assessment is that I find the sensor size hard to get used to - and the fixed lens offers great range but nothing else. Maybe that's it. Artistically, I'm not connecting with the footage because it's more creatively limiting on this sensor and the fixed lens. Probably.

WOW. wth 100% agree same same same!!!

  10. For those unfamiliar with the recent revelations surrounding KIC 8462852, here's everyone's favorite theoretical physicist Michio Kaku to explain...

So, as the poll question states, IS THIS ALIENS? Or not?

We may find an answer with a high degree of certainty in a matter of weeks

  11. Ive had my D750 for a few weeks now and love it. The image quality/file size is amazing. Colors are sweet. Body and buttons nice. Its a great cam and I ditched my G7 for it (pretty much the same as a GH4).

    ~subscribed!

    2.5k for 1080p on youtube i like it ;)

yeah this is a rad camera. my friend has one, got to use it for a bit – loved the build quality, just fit in my hand really really well, surprisingly lightweight tho? and super for stills

anyway the bitrate vs results makes zero sense what the heck is going on there lol

    also, @Mattias Burling - this is crazy~!

    AllaDR-1024x576.jpg

    wow??!? ?

  12. thanks for sharing your experiences oliver. im on the same page

Under challenging lighting conditions, the image from this camera is exceptionally noisy - even under ISO800. This site reported in the RX10 II review it's usable at up to ISO6400. I don't find that to be true under any type of lighting whatsoever

true story... ::sigh:: its p disappointing... and i never go above 800 iso, learned not to quickly ?

How did it break? I wouldn't be surprised if it was the back LCD. That thing is like a kids toy.

    or the lens ?

honestly when i first started using the cam i had this subconscious thought that i didnt rlly wanna acknowledge and tried to bury that was like 'Hope i can sell this thing before the lens or lcd breaks'

of and fwiw ive been using rec709 for gamut w slog2 and custom settings... i fought with pp7 quite a bit and finally gave up. wish i had some awesome insight on slog2 color but sadly i do not smh

  13. For me one of the more exciting things showcased at NAB

i kno rite?! so cool. the tech has come so far its crazy... i used to think of "lighting" as being virtually synonymous with heavy fussy stuff that gets really hot and can be legitimately dangerous. just the fact that these things wont burn someones finger off is still awesome to me lol

Whilst on the subject of LED, this was featured in blogs last year quite a bit. Fascinating for those who haven't seen it.

yeah like me wth this is AWESOME~!!! something like this is def going in my dream art studio one day ?

  14. what do you guys think about flexible LEDs like this?

    650x650x107-2-7400-Curved-Daylight.jpg,q

i like how theyre all bendy and u can roll em up and stick em anywhere

no idea what im talking about here just wondering if flexible leds suck for some reason lol

  15. Hi Guys,

Yes, you are right. I am the developer of the Cinema 4K app.

quoted in hopes that this will reach you nokker!

I noticed that the App worka best onSamsung Galaxy S6 (and Edge) and probably the Note 5. I saw quite a few online videos including on the One Plus Two. It works on a lot of phones, has hiccups on the LGs, but on the Samsung's it really seems to be nailing it.

I also noticed that there are Intensity Levels in Flat Profile and various settings too. I am actually Very Curious to know how much the footage can be pushed and whether at High Flat Profiles it competes with the SLog or VLog even marginally.

The more I learn about this, the more I am fascinated.

    Screenshot_2015-09-08-16-48-24.png

i wanna learn more too! ive only run through these settings once to do a quick comparison with my note 5. ive gotten the most usable image information with the flat profile type on dark + light, the flat profile intensity on medium ('high' seemed to give the same image after post, harder to monitor on screen), and the noise reduction set to normal

    Hey Cinema 4k App developer:

Please fix: I bought the full version with 1 google account, but when I added another account (as my primary account), the app keeps asking me to buy the full version again using my new account. If I remove the second account, then I can use the full version again.

Basically, make the app check if ANY Google Play accounts on the phone have already purchased the full version, not just the Primary account.

Also, you could add a boolean hasBeenActivated (or something like that) so that if the full version was activated at any point, it should set it to true so the app doesn't have to connect to internet and check with Google play every time it starts up. I am test driving my uncle's OnePlus 2 and I installed your app on the phone and bought the full version using credits I had, but when I remove my account so I can give him the phone, the app again asks to buy the full version.

Lastly, if you could add support for slowmo (1080p 60 & 120 and 720p 60, 120, & 240) this would become the absolute ultimate!

    Thanks!

I love the app!! I've recommended it to and had 4 of my friends download it already!

Dear Developer, I tried the app on the Samsung S6 Edge, and while the video quality is excellent and comparable with DSLRs that shoot Full HD (Maybe even 4k), the profile could be More FLAT. Like the one on the Cameringo App, when the Contrast is pushed Completely Down.

    Thanks in advance ... ;-)

hmm interesting, on my note 5 i havent gotten noticeably better results with the flat profile intensity set to high vs medium, 'high' seems like the same image with the contrast pushed down even more, have you liked the results of 'high' better? ill have to check out Cameringo~!

has anyone else had a chance to use the cinema 4k app more? any thoughts/tips/tricks? :relaxed:

  16. i have a friend who used to work for sony who might be interested i have no idea but i could ask him. a bit more info about your project would help if youd like me to do so

what was your doc shot on? whats your vision of the grade? etc.
