  1. I like the script, the pace and acting. Camera was adequate to show what needed to be shown, just, the image was out of focus and overexposed. I think the thread title fits you well, Zach, about being a director. You wrote and directed well but might have used some teaming up for exposing the shot and pulling focus. Or you take your time for these kinda technicalities as well.
  2. @ade towell Thanks for posting. I guess I should not mind a bit mushyness. After all, this camera will not lack in resolution, right. Color and production quality is up there with the super pros of Hollywood. If they can pull off an interesting 90min film, it would rather be proof of their ability than the cameras quality, which at the moment seems without doubt already. Besides rolling shutter, this looks like the Varicam image. And so should the S1, if the 150mbit codec will hold up for the the big screen.
  3. Watched a DVD projection on a 9foot projection screen. Looked awesome. "Coffe and cigarettes". Awesome BW photography. Looked as good as any streaming from netflix. @User Yes, the horror of pixel and tech race. The rants about segmenting tech and about these awefully short product cycles and redundant products are more than justified!
  4. Union Berlin fan then? I mean FAN, if you know what I mean?
  5. Hallo, thank you very much! I think the magic really comes from the lens. The Fujinon 12.5mm 1.4. It does not quiet cover the full 16 to 9 image on the Lumix. I shot this on the G6. Grading and grain in Davinci, any other characteristics of the image come from the beautiful location, the light and the lens. The whole piece was shot in a cinema verité approach, with hardly any shots posed for the camera. I hopefully get around doing some more of these personal vignettes this year. I will see. For this piece it was the right energy and the right moment in time and right kinda lightning:)
  6. Funny, companies putting out new camera models, me going reverse and wanting to buy the older cams. Saw some footage from the A6000 a friend of mine did, because he did´t like the handling of the GH5:), lovely image, camera is pretty cheap now. I think it even got a 50mbit codec with a firmware update.
  7. @Cinegain, That guy has a great voice and lovely presence, very relaxing. How nerdy is that, to listen to a camera reviewer rather for the mellow vibes than for infos on cameras:) Would love to see some people to put the S1 and S1H cameras to cinema film use. One of the examples with the two bowlers had massively good color but mushy upload quality.

@thephoenix would love to see the shortfilm! Great image. Makes me curious. How do you like the Tokina? Is it working well enough at 3.5? How do you like the XT3?
  10. Hopefully this is a sign of smaller product cycles.

This ist where ze magigk ist happeningk! Meanwhile forrest dropping by two percent, ocean is too. Two people with manic smiles. This ad shows well what this is all about.
  12. Wow, that price let´s you rent an original Easyrig for a few days. Interested in seeing more tests.
  13. Thank you! Yes, it´s a great classic. I wonder, if the GH3 would add anything due to its newer sensor and the 50mbit codec. Might be worth it to give it a try
  14. Hallo friends, now here are the photos of my camera. I already revealed my choice in this awesome thread: the semilegendary Lumix G6 and the Fujinon 12.5mm 14. C-mount lens. Beautiful lens and awesome to hold with the G6. It does not quiet cover the whole sensor in 16 to 9, of course. I also used the 2x digizoom to really feel free from worries and creative limits. I think this setup is perfect for cinema verité pieces. Also, it was so enjoyable to realize camera movements without in body or lens stabilization, such a gratifying feeling. I think shooting 8bit 420 and with a rather slim codec was giving me some special kind of concentration during filming. A camera like the G6 or others put the focus on filming rather than to have to worry about battery life or 14 stops of DR. Handling is great and image feels very dear and unique to me. In 2x digizoom it felt like the readout was much faster. I was able to pull off some very steady camera movements. A bit of stabilization in post and sastisfied. Camera movement felt much more immediate than doing it with IBIS or in lens stabilization. Filming was done alot with 7000K in Vivid picture profile with contrast with everyting to -2. Grading and edit in Davinici. Like all of us I enjoyed filming and the results a very big deal and the write ups and crazy camera setups as well. Such a fun challenge and awesome two days of filming and editing! Let´s do it again, guys! Next challenge ahead with great anticipation and exitement!
  15. @shijan Pretty as heck! That smallrig cage is the one and only version? Asking to make sure everything fits with your products onto the right cage. Wouldnt want to buy the wrong cage. Nor the wrong camera:)
  16. @IronFilmWow, insane! Shipping to Europe comes with customs and tax, unfortunately. Never know how high they estimate value at customs. Friend of mine bought a used macbook motherboard for 120eu on Ebay US and had to pay 40eu taxes and customs! I got a question about Slog. Does the F3 have it from the start on? Found an auction where seller states, it´s without SLOG. From what I know, there are versions with 10bit 422 output and SLog, just without 444 output. So 422 SLOG 10bit would already plenty. It´s really weird, I bought a FS700, didnt get around to buy a lens adapter and to film something with it, rather hunting for low Shogun and Inferno prices. And, though looking out for that F3. Weird indeed.:) How could you!:)
  17. Just coming from the 444 F3 hack thread:) See the similarities, my friend? Another camera I am keen on holding in my hands. Vintage lovers, vintage vine, vintage cameras, vintage film. It would be THE perfect digital super8 camera! Would love to have one and film with it! You must feel me as a camera lover! I mean you are the greatest supporter of the beautiful F3 after all. Now, that 300USD in the auction you posted in another thread, insane! Too bad as European they make as pay custom fee and tax as it would be a brand new item somehow, so might double the price. @tktagmedia Congratulations again and good luck with your Andromeda beauty! Did you get it to work rather flawlessly? Looking forward to seeing some footage and pictures of your setup. You wrote, you have two of them now? You lucky!:) Are both of them working?
  18. The G9 has only low bitrates in HD. Maybe now it has legit 100mbit in HD. Cheapest Lumix with 100 and 200mbit would be the GH4. Did anyone have the opportunity to test the 100mbit on the GX9? How did it turn out? Would be great to film something in rather rash conditons and compare, doing a stress test in grading.
  19. Oh, and thanks to my friend Glenn @mercer for "making me" get this lens. This lens has given so much joy like no other one has before. And images to see and to film! Thank you, my friend for this and for so much more. See you in the next Eoshd filming rally! best, Marty
  20. Hallo, congratulations to all filmmakers and to your great films! Thank you all who voted for my film. @Nordee, very beautiful film and images you created and edited. It was one of my favorite pieces, with visual grace, taste and soul. Please keep your camera! By any means! I filmed with a semi classic, one of my favorite personal cameras, the Lumix G6. I bought it four years ago with the classic 14-45mm lens for 240EU. Nowadays you can buy the body for 100eu on ebay! Once graded in Davinci Resolve, I like their 709 image better than from the much more recent G7 and even GH5 cameras. My lens was the beautiful Fuji 12.5mm f1.4 C-mount lens, which I bought some time ago for 40 EU. My approach was semidocumentary, with half a handful shots staged. The cat didnt bother the lighting, of course, because it was of the tungsten kind, WB all way up to 9000K I think. I used the 2x digital zoom a good deal to give me two focal lenghts in one. The aliasing was a fair tradeoff for convinience and immediacy of filming. I graded and edited in Davinci Resolve, with some stabilization and noise reduction. I feel a bit euphoric now and also a bit honoured! So, thanks everyone! Oh, thanks Andrew, for "making" me buy this camera.:) Shots of my setup to come of course, when I´m home. best, Marty
  21. Hallo, does that mean, you own a G9? If so, wouldnt you just love to test out BTM_Pix' tool and check for some GH5 capabilities? 100mbit HD is all I am asking for. 10bit, too much to ask for, I think.:)
  22. I am laughing, because a friend of mine and I are sitting over an edit and Premiere is giving us such a hard time with reconnecting, relocating files. I personally enjoy Resolve for its workflow and straightforwardness. Free version does not have most of the openFX like grain nor noise reduction, does not read some codecs such as the 10bit from the GH5. Needs a graphics card with cuda or open cl support from nvidia or amd.
  23. awesome thread. always lovely, this tasty little threads for the small cameras and underdog lenses with the big screen image. thank you for posting, great reads you linked here! i think bmmcc shooters are like olympus xa photogs, admirerers of the tech, craft and art. their images express that thrill with exiting results. Wow, I always believed it had full HDMI. So I second that question.
  24. They will be smarter than we are, if that really happens, meaning, we as general people would have been not that smart at all.
