  1. Tripods and heads should make you some good money. @webrunner5
  2. I always loved Steve Huffs site. Don´t remember when I started reading it but maybe around 2011 or so. Read many of his old articles, getting me hooked to a GF1. Though this camera was already inferiour back then when I bought it I had so much fun using it and it is one of my favorite digital stills bodies of all time, despite its slippy, skinny grip. Later around A7R2 times I started recognizing an odd pattern in writing and lost interest. Up until OMD EM5 days it was a great companion and every days first web read. After all he made me buy a Lumix GF1 not a Nikon D90. So that got me into mirrorless. Oh, alos got a Oly EPL1, EP2, which I bought for the 20mm 1.7 and the 45mm 1.8 coming along with them. Watching this video gives me great pleasure. Hearing the guy in his warmhearted and gentle way. His turn towards audio will hopefully mean that he will leave his archive of vintage digital photocameras online for generations to come. Let me check his GF1 review again. 🙂 Oh crap, a warm- cold shiver running down my spine.
  3. Darrrrrn! What a brave rig this is! @webrunner5 So you have a b4 or b2 mount adapter and a doubler or 1.4 extender between mount and lens or inside the lens? ENG pros don´t know any fear! So, how does the lens perform on general terms and on terms of the BMPCC, 4K ready? 🙂 cheers and thank you for lighting up my evening with such a cool setup!
  4. I found the Sigma video not appealng in regards to the "vintage character" of the lenses. To me it was going over the lines. I would suggest buying some affordable M42 lenses, just like Andrew and the EOSHD cats have been suggesting as a valid choice since the existence of this beautiful site and forum.
  5. Yes, Mr. Webrunner is a true personality, sometimes making me think and laugh at the same time. A great pleasure! @Emanuel
  6. Yes, that little RAW clip is definately an indication of great enjoyment and motivation to go outside and film. I remember when I started filming with my G6. Every opportunity was so much fun and exitement. GX85 was fun too. But with this camera it feels like in the "old days", exitement and anticipation. And investement. 😉 Need to buy a smaller monitor like the Ikan, which our friend @mercer recommended. The 5inch VA form Blackmagic feels too bulky for cinema verité. For studio or a narrative setup with AC and all that, it is fine of course. For our little shortfilmy I had it connected to a Shogun, because my mini SDI to SDI cable ripped apart. Dunno how that happened.:) Camera was on an improvised mini minijib:) on sticks, which was on pipe tracks. Anyway, a camera which invites to chat and chat about. 🙂
  7. I definately will! Have a great day! Looking forward to seeing more from you and your craft and art! cheers 🙂
  8. Better get a Canon FD 20mm before they hit 699+ 🙂
  9. There is the possibility of moire. The S1H is the safe bet for any grooms suit.:) I find the monitor on the S1 a bit unpleasant to handle. It´s connection is very solid but due to that not very smooth to move. A few times I find the EVF bump to be in the way when shooting from certain angles. S1H being 350g heavier than the S1 makes it indeed a very heavy Lumix. GH6 seems like the perfect body. Btw, GH6 in low light seemed to hold onto colours much better than GH5s and though noisier, detail was reained better as well, coming from some youtube tests. So it is a mini S1H in many regards and way beyond in others.
  10. I just bought a Canon FD 35mm F2. I put it to use with the BMMCC and a 0.71x focal reducer last weekend. Focus was manually done by a 1st AC via Tilta Nano. A native electronic 12-35mm would not have cut it. But I can see that continious AF is of course an interesting thing on newer cameras and for videography especially. @webrunner5
  11. The original filter on the original BMPCC and the BMMCC is still letting of IR light get through the sensor. So I bought mine with the filter from Rawlite, which is Oplf and IR Cut in one. I am not sure though if I didnt get tricked though. Anyway, this camera already gave me a lot of joy and I am looking forward to testing it much more. Heck, you guys remember how much use we gave to our Canon Ti and GH cameras back then. We all were so on fire that filming walls was even fun to us. I started HD with a Lumix G6 btw. My favorite colour science for grading. If it only had a 100mbit codec. But that is an old lamento I´ve been having. It´s just a very organic image.
  12. The moire was in Prores 50p when testing. The actual filmshoot was in 25p. I used a different lens and focal length, also changed the lighting to put less emphasize. You can still screw up on BM cameras easily, even in RAW if you shoot under Tungsten light with warm effect gels or under high IR pollution if you don´t use an IR Cut filter.:)
  13. Not at all. @webrunner5 I don´t use electronic Panny lenses nor other native lenses for video. I only own one native mechanical lens, the 12mm SLR Magic which I only used a couple times until I bought a Fujinon 12.5mm C-Mount. One of my favorite lenses on MFT with a focal reducer is a Canon nFD 28mm 2.8 which I bought for 20 EUR a couple years ago.
  14. So, first little project with my BMMCC occured. I bought it six months ago, so not as long as I thought until filming with it. Image is great just as anyone would agree. Not sure if my RAWLITE filter is doing so great, showing moire parade on fine textile patterns. Moire test was at 50p though. So, not sure if it has a different readout at 50p, skipping resolution. Playing with Raw is fun and takes some time of course. Menus, oh well, it´s a cinema camera so taking time with things is okay.:) I was going to post some images. But Andrews last blog article gave me chills. @Andrew Reid I would not want my uploads to be at the hands of anyone else but Andrew. I find it sad to read and since there is no comment section for this I find it even more saddening. 😞 You all have a great day!
  15. @webrunner5 no Panny lenses for video on my mft cameras! 🙂 Would love the Voigts, Veydras or Laowas if going native of course. @kye I did that, recorded in Prores and did the bonus take in RAW 3:1, In Prores it is a very pleasing grain structure, in RAW without noise reduction it was very hard edged. But great reference point, having both for the same shot, just like you suggested! 🙂
  16. Still waiting for the C to M mount adapter. Guess not anymore though. Tracking says, on the way to country of origin.:/ Bummer, in the EOS M package for 125Eu was a C-mount adapter included as well.:) Now, working with raw from my BMMCC in Resolve, noise reduction takes a toll on my computer. It´s not super trivial to get nice, undisturbing noise structure from Raw as the camera is getting from processing by using Prores.
  17. Played around with some BMMCC raw. Exited to compare them both. My C-mount adapter was paid four weeks ago. Now it says it is back on its way to land of origin. Anyway fiddling with raw in Resolve is so much fun. Btw, I had found another Eos M with the 15-55, an EF adapter, three batteries for 125EU. I was gonna go for it for having the adapter. But I asked the guy if he would sell the package for 115. But he didnt answer and next day it was gone. Of course:) The go for cheap. Grab them while they´re hot. I got mine with one battery for 75EUR.
  18. Yeah, the nerdom and its enthusiams coming from camera lovers is what counts a lot. Cinematography is just as much about the joy of using tools to the best effect just as it is to wonder the marvels of tech and to operate them. Now I get carried away. Anyway, looking forward to more awesomness of yours! I´ve had a desire to make a macro micro short for a while. Your footage and thread might have made me get closer to do that! Perfect! 🙂
  19. Yes, still lovin the treasure chambers of EOSHD. Btw, my Tevidon adapter arrived, calling out for a super small anamorphic setup with an Iscomorophot 8 1.5. Cosimo would just take that Tevidon and the Isco and combine it into the smalles anamorphic lens on Eoshd, right! 🙂 @Cosimo After 6 six monthis of ownershipe I finally put my Blackmagic Micro into action. But that is for the BMMCC thread. So no spoilers here. But that with a Tevidon + Isco 8 with a Micro digital S16 would make a worthwhile addition to the arsenal of video nerdism.:) Yes, Eoshd is awesome. And you all are the reason why. Now, off to the BMMCC thread. 🙂
  20. MrSMW owns a S5 and S1H, no need for a a7iv. 🙂 @webrunner5 I held a Sigma FP in the hand for a short time and it did not resonate. Plus, not having a mechanical shutter is not appealing neither to me. I think the rangefinder style FF camera with 10bit video and IBIS would be great for the L-mount lineup and for me.

    Panasonic GH6

@Jimmy G My two cents:) Dont buy a Ninja V. Your S1 does good enough without it. So either keep the S! and save your money or sell it and get a GH6. Like I said, my two cents. 🙂 Or keep the mighty S1, still buy a GH6 and compare the two.:)
  22. Again, funny and saddening at the same time. @jgharding
  23. Vintage camera, muaha! @BTM_Pix Funny and saddening thumbnail.

@webrunner5 Thanks for pointing out. I liked the young gentlemans approach. Footage not so much. Hard to believe that most of the GH6 footage looks worse than GH5 amateur clips. Andyax did the best so far for me. But that kid also made a Canon Ti shine like it was the hottest stuff in the universe, which it was back then to non GH2 users. 🙂 Edit: After glimpsing into the footage again, I must say i remembered it to be better. Right now I feel underwhelmed even by the colours from Andyax tests.

Cine D said that underexposure latitude is not far away from FF offerings such as A7iv. But A7iv also displays lotta NR. Hopefully some valid tests will show up. Most the stuff on youtube is not very revealing.
