from 0:00 to 1:34 is the T3i, and 1:40 to 13:59 is the Pocket, then it goes back to the t3i from 14:00 until 17:30.
I graded all the pocket cinema camera footage with Neumann luts "The Halfling profile"
As a final render I upscaled everything to 4k and uploaded to youtube. So for best viewing results 4k is your best bet as it does benefit quite a bit with youtube compression.

During artist tests, Davis brought the first Pocket Camera on set. "I put it through a whole range of comprehensive latitude tests; I wanted to see the quality of the image and I also wanted to see how much information it held in the shadows and highlights," he says. "I was really impressed with what I saw, and that was the fundamental thing we were looking for. I think the Pocket is definitely up there alongside the Red and the Alexa in terms of latitude, and that let me cut in with the Alexa and Canon C500, which we also used, in a much more seamless way. And all that information moves straight on to VFX through grading.

I have been using this and it works great.
I have started using your rec709 LUTs for photos too!
Now its a bit pain since I have to export a jpg with lightroom upload to the site then edit the image in photoshop to add the LUT then back to lightroom for some extra work and the final export.
It would be great if there was an LUT plugin for lightroom...

    Hello everybody,
I just build an online web app to test all the LUTs from my pack on JPG/PNG images.
You can test the beta version here : http://luts.iwltbap.com/previewer
The use is pretty simple, you have just to drop/load a JPG/PNG frame on the main container and click a LUT reference in the left sidebar.
In top bar you have a ON/OFF button to enable or disable the LUT effect instantly, and a slider to change the LUT intensity.
Also, you can export the current frame as a PNG by clicking SAVE button.
The LUTs will be applied at low resolution to increase speed (the size of this web app is around 10MB, when my pack of LUTs is around 1.20GB).
So, pixelation and banding will appear in the previewer.
More details in the infos box on the previewer home page.
It's still in beta so all feedback and bug reports are welcome

They are apparently in progress to a feasibility study with an aim to supply film schools/educational market, as many schools still having lenses left over from the SR/ST days. Simplified s16 Amira (true S16 Sensor not a crop) sounds very much in the feasibility stage for now, but could end up being an interesting little camera if produced and made available outside the educational market.

    Dear EOSHD community,
I am an independent french graphic designer and I regularly work in photo and video.
Over the years, I created a collection of 3D LUT files to ease the color grading of my projects.
Recently I created a pack with my 38 original LUTs.
They are profiled on high-resolution color matrix and were built to preserve skin tones as best as possible.
I had the chance to work with many different cameras and I spent a lot of time creating these looks and testing on raw footages, from 5DMKII and 7D with Magic Lantern, GH4, A7S, BMPC 4K, and stills from RED EPIC.
About HDSLR, these LUTs are calibrated on CineStyle/Cinelike profiles.
Also in my pack is included a LUT to properly « flat » a footage and get a good working basis before grading.
Website for more infos : http://luts.iwltbap.com
Instagram with short video samples : https://instagram.com/luts
At the end of this post you will find some sample images before-after.
My LUTs pack is for sale $20, but I created a discount code of -25% for EOSHD community.
So you can get it for $15 instead of $20 via : https://sellfy.com/p/Ainy/-EOSHD
My pack is regularly updated with new LUTs and all updates are free.
On my website you can download a free LUT with the famous teal-orange look.
Also, I offer for free a 4K film grain based on 35mm film scans (10sec video encoded in Apple ProRes 422 at 25fps).
Hope you will like my LUTs.
    Best,
    Benjamin

benymypony reacted to maxotics in No External Mic for LX100 No Problem says Tascam DR-70D
Was shooting some stuff with some Azden dual wireless mics (330LT) and kept getting popping on one set.  Dave Dugdale gave up on the Azdens after a few minutes so in frustration I ordered two sets from Audio-Technica System 10 (chose over Rode system and Sony because they output both balanced and un-balanced--which I might want for a professional camcorder situation).  While I'm on B&H I figured I'd get the Tascam DR-70D so I might get one channel from the Azen and the two from Audio-Technica.  I was about to put the Azdens up for sale then figured I'd give them one more fiddle.  I moved the frequency on one to the opposite end of the other and, voila, they now work perfectly.  I know, why didn't I do that in the beginning?
Lying in bed I wondered, how difficult to slate the LX100 to the Tascam?  Turns out, it isn't difficult at all.  I've half-heartedly tried to sell the LX100.  Something keeps drawing me back to that little camera.  The 4K from that small size downsamples to crystal clear 1080.  Anyway, the short of it is the Tascam DR-70s have internal mics and, with the LX100 (or any camera) firmly screwed into it, tapping on one will create a SLATE sound in both.  The Tascam also has a slate tone you can send to any camera with an external mic input.  I plan to use that with the A7s.
BTW, B&H got me the stuff in a day.  Amazing company.  They often include free stuff with purchases.  With this, I received some Sony audio software.
Another interesting thing I learning in doing this is with the Sony XLR-K1M, you can set the gain to one thing (say low) in one channel and (high) in another channel coming from the one shotgun mic.  How cool is that!  It's a similar thing you can do with the Tascam.  Once you set the gain of one mic properly, you can record another "low" so that if something really loud happens, you have some audio that you can use, which isn't distorted.
Thank you to Andrew for running this blog where I can share this tip!

I did a bunch of grading - checking out Impulz vs Filmconvert

Overall filmconvert feels more forced, retains less detail. Impulz luts gives a better starting point - more image detail retained in ut - to play with - to shape it and move.
I also just did a rec 709 conversion and graded - and it's a lot harder to work with to get to where I want to go.  So if you don't like luts, good for you.  For me, it gets me there faster.  And then I tweak and tweak and tweak.  The overall image, then skin, then lips, everything.
Also now being able to shoot pro res 444 12-bit from the sony f35 to the odyssey 7q is really, really nice.

Mixed lighting test - sony f35 to convergent design pro res 4444 - with overhead crappy 4000k fluorescents - shooting s-gamut then with p3-dci gamut
the lighting is all over the place - crappy overhead flourescents - 4000k mixed with more crappy flourescents and in some scenes led glow from macbook
the p3-dci definitely falls apart faster.
s-gamut - with pro res 4444 - very clean secondary color correcting and stress to push pro res as far as it needs to go.
shot underexposed 1 stop. amazing how clean can make - used neatvideo on impulz footage

benymypony reacted to Ed_David in Why the LUT is a good starting point for coloring
I think Juan Melera has an export lut - which is the answer print - 2393 - and then he sees the final output and in essence is tweaking the image before it gets to the final print.
He does a primary grade to neutralize white balance, get things where they want.
I usually shoot slog - and I convert it to cineon color space which is basically arri log-c color space.  After that I start to tweak overall look.
Then onto secondary corrections - isolating the skin tone, getting that where you want it.  Also you can do highlight offsets on the skin and make the lips the correct feeling saturation.  And then power windows, on the face, on the windows, background, etc etc.
But yes, I think just like there are a million ways to light a scene and shot them, there are basic ideas and it's really a free-for-all at this point.
Just as it is with editing.
When I started I was on a path to editing.  But now I see people much younger than me crushing it - doing so well, already editing - editing fast and just cranking out beautiful stuff and they just jumped into it, they didn't know what they were doing, they just started.  Balls to the wall.
And why not do that with coloring?  So we don't think there is only one way to do it.
I agree with many, the filmconvert look is start to get a little overused like magic bullet back in the day.
but shit, to each their own on how they want to grade.
