I have a feeling that those 500 people had to be there for the ambience of that scene - to sell that scene for what it is....

If I ever get the budget for something like that I'll definitely  keep you posted!

You'd also have to put on some shitty pop music for realism. ?

    You know that! ?

Great job!!! Well written and really funny. The sex montage was hilarious.

I love the look from the Micro. I’m glad I decided to hold on to mine for a little while longer.

Thanks, @mercer! Glad you enjoyed. The bmmcc definitely has that "special sauce" look. Don't ever get rid of it!

Definitely a good short (dialogue isn't cliche), but something about the actual speed dating at the bar felt fake. It felt like the bar was empty and it was just them two (+ camera man) with added fake ambient noise. In terms of crew, other than the camera man, how many people were there?

Thanks, @mkabi. Ssshhh, don't give away the filmmaking secrets! ? That's exactly what it was. One man crew (me) with sound design. A bar tender and some people crossing camera would probably have sold the scene a little more, but unnecessary in terms of what I wanted to achieve ?

Had a similar issue with my Elmoscope II, turns out the focus ring was bent in making it a hell of a time to unscrew. Cut my fingers on the threads a few times but was able to use a cut up tennis ball to give me the grip I needed to wrench it off.

    It states:

"ALL THINGS RAW! Cameras including Blackmagic and codecs like ProRes RAW and BRAW. Accessories like external recorders and workflows including raw compatible NLEs."

Ehh maybe not truly related to Raw but I think it fits in.I am just trying to save someone a buck from thinking they are going to see some huge gain from the purchase. It would appear not to be the case. YMMV.

Whoops, I think we crossed wires a little! I meant in this particular thread. Thought it might have been accidentally posted here ?

Looks like 8bit 4.2.2 is not that big of a deal over 8 bit 4.2.0 and buying a Atomos Ninja V to get it.

Not sure you were meaning to post this here? ? From a personal stand point, 4.2.2 vs 4.2.0, external recorders etc all really becomes irrelevant if all an individual is doing is posting up videos to platforms such as YouTube and Vimeo. The compression alone makes the differences redundant, IMHO. I feel the same way about individuals shooting at excessive bit rates who are under the impression that their video quality will hold up better once uploaded to said platforms.

How do you like the Century Optics Anamorphic adapter? I’m looking for a simple Anamorphic set up for my 5D3 and it seems like the SLR Magic and Century options are the simplest... other than an Iscorama 36 or 54 but they’re way out of my price range.

Btw, which Zeiss 25mm did you use here?

I really like the Century Optics. Def prefer it over the SLR Magic for one main reason - It has an organic vibe to the image with focus imperfections I'd probably liken to a 90's movie shot in 2.35:1 anamorphic. The SLR is way too sharp for my own personal taste, too "digital" with blue flares that look like felt pen streaks.

I used the Carl Zeiss T2.8 25mm Distagon Prime Lens. ?

Bozzie you going to buy a PK4? That camera looks like it would fit right into your style.

I've thought about it. Even looked around for a bit to see if there were any available (Ha!). The spec on paper is incredible. And once BM release their BRAW codec for the little cam (which they eventually will) it'll be pretty much game over for the rest of the competition. And a no brainer for anyone looking to buy/upgrade.

    BUT...

For me, I'll more than likely pass. I have one issue that I can't seem to get over --> Image Aesthetics. That is to say, image quality. To my eye the P4K has a digital edge I liken to something like a GH5. It doesn't have the organic film look of the original pocket, the texture, the "special sauce" if you will. I put this down to the new sensor. I personally haven't seen anything out there that has made me think otherwise.

Though I have seen plenty of comments from users  who are absolutely in love with their P4K, even with early production quality faults. Rightly so too :)

  9. Always wanted to try out the slow motion lip sync music video thing. NB: This was purely for testing purposes.

    Tech:

    • Panasonic G7
    • 1080p @ 50fps (conformed to 25p)
    • 1600 ISO (no noise reduction)
    • Cine D Like Picture Profile
    • Custom LUT

    Conclusion:

Not perfect, but definitely a useful tool to have in the filmmaker bag ?

    I like it. Good job!

Actually, with your fondness for the forgotten cameras of yesterday, I think you may really like the E-M5 Mark II. It has the best IBIS I’ve ever used and a nice organic look and color.

How did you like the files? If I remember correctly, this footage was recorded externally to a BMVA, so the ProRes files may be a little juicier than the in camera All-I files.

    Thanks, @mercer.

I always feel like people are way too concerned with tech/spec and the next "game ganger" camera. So I guess in some way I'm trying to say the older cameras can still produce quality images without the need to constantly upgrade. In my mind, the camera is just a tool. It's more a case of honing ones craft.

I'd probably like the E-M5 purely for the IBIS but would never get one. I'm happy with my original pocket camera and gh2. However, the only other camera that would be in my radar if I decided to upgrade further down the line would be the P4K.

I believe the externals were recorded in Prores 422 HQ which is overkill for my liking (the file above was around 460mbs). Might as well shoot RAW ?
