  1. All I can say is that I bet they were really happy with your work here. You did a really great job. Some really wonderful shots in there. Shows what the NX1 is capable of in good hands. Congrats!
I am assuming the NX1 will be coming out again for next wedding season?

Thank you, glad you liked it :d Yeah, they were happy (they got a longer version as well)

Im currently editting my last wedding shot a few weeks back, and it should also be my last for now, Im considering going abroad and trying something more serious than weddings, this year was crazy, and I miss doing shortfilms, music videos (tough im doing one now as well) and other creative stuff.

  2. As I said, these were measured on the first Firmware, which is a shame, since the camera evolved so much.

If you take a look at the A7sII vs the NX500, it fairs much better than the NX1 which is quite wrong.

  3. I saw the same thing about contrast, the shadows seems to be losing detail quite a bit (shot with 0-255 setting), and there is not way to adjust that I could find. I posted an example earlier in this thread. Also, did anyone try in SpeedGrade?

I shoot with 16-235, didnt notice any detail lost on the shadows though, but havent tested it much yet...will do some extreme tests and see how they compare.

  4. Just tried this, since I had original clips and converted clips, I tried both side by side.

It seems that the original H265 is slightly more contrasted than the Prores, which looks more faded. Also it seems to have no banding at all, even after grading, also no magenta/green weird banding lines. Ill post some screenshots later !

  5. canon fd 14mm f2.8 L & a canon fd 24mm f1.4 L ?

I like the look of this ! Very muted tone ?, what lenses did you use ?

    Thanks :d

The close ups are canon 50mm f1.8 and the "wide" shot of the car with the samyang 24mm f1.4

  6. I randomly got this effect while using the 50mm f1.8 canon on the NX1, I realized it does this quite often, something that didnt happen on my T3i with the same lens, I wonder if it has to do with flange distance.

    **This is a videoframe BTW.

  7. The exposure's about a stop too dark, and your blues are all steely cyan for some reason. Nice DR, but the grade needs work.

This wasnt final grading, I totally agree with you ! Will post some improvements over these, and other shots.

Gotta try those vivid settings though, might look great, anyone tried them at night ?

  8. dope !

I started shooting with the normal gamma profiles, I shot some of these on vivid (namely the two shots with the old man) all at default settings except sharpness down to -10. I didn't use any diffusion filtration on these neither. I've noticed when you shoot flat on this camera that you can get some weird color banding and anomalies, but they do not present themselves often. Using the vision color impulz luts the LUT will pull down the bright highlights and shadows into an acceptable range even with a contrasty picture profile. There is a surprising amount of detail in the nx1 files, sometimes highlights could look blown but there is actually detail there. Shooting -0.3 to -0.6 exposure and I've got better results than with the gamma dr profile. Again the impulz lut's are a good start as they bring the highlights down and the saturation gets a non linear response like film (very saturated colors get reduced and undersaturated gets a slight boost) works really well with the nx1

Loving these looks, will def. try them ! :d

  9. Love it! Looks very clean on the highlights.

Thank you :d Yeah, if we protect the highlights from getting crushed, it always looks quite amazing.

Heres a few others, but the OOC settings are always the same.

Just like Andrew said, the goal is to have enough so that you can make artistic choices later on in post...This is actually one of my favourite parts of any project, to grade the footage in a lot of ways and see how it ends up looking.

  10. You can get a classic 5d for like $300 easily, less with some searching almost definitely. Not sure how well it holds up. No video, but then have left over money for a cheap full frame video option by way of speedboosting.. a little goofy, but

Nah, Id rather spend the extra money to get the mark 2 and have it all in one package conveniantly, I try to pack as light as I possibly can, having 3 cameras would be a huge hassle.

  11. I honestly don't know. If so, you must have something similar over there for local people.

Just remembered, people have started using  buy, sell, and trade groups on Facebook to get rid of their old stuff. I've sold three cameras that way so far and I'm working on a fourth. Very little fuss and easy to use.

Thats what im searching for now, but Portuguese people have a tendency to try and sell used stuff for almost the price of new -.- but Ill get lucky eventually...
