    True.
But lens size will always be linked to body size.
I also prefer full frame for photography. That doesn't make aps-c or m43 dead.
Of course Sony 'admits' it, they have been focussing heavily on fullframe cameras.
Sony is a good example of the lens size 'problem' though. Most of the FE lenses are huge. On the other hand, that is a design choice. Sony could make more small full frame lenses. The 28mm f/2 and 35mm f/2.8 are perfect examples and lenses I'd love to use if I had a A7. I don't like huge beasts like the 35mm f/1.4 or 70-200mm f/4 OSS.
I wish Sony would make more f/2 - f/2.8 lenses. 20mm f/2.8, 24mm f/2.8, 35mm f/2 OSS, 50mm f/1.8 OSS (just a cheap one :)) would be nice. They could be small and not crazy expensive.
One thing that does disappoint me is cost of lenses for smaller sensors and the inability of Olympus/Panasonic to make really FAST lenses. Take the new Olympus 7-14mm f/2.8 for example. It's compact, 534 grams, costs €1299. I'm sure the image quality will be great, but essentially it uses half the glass (and is half the weight) of a full frame equivalent like the Nikkor 14-24mm f/2.8 (€1679), but it is not half the cost. Volume is probably a problem here and again - the quality of the M.Zuiko will be outstanding, but so is the Nikkor.
I just wish M43 lenses were not only half the size and weight, but also half the cost. Or the same price with an aperture that makes the lens actually an equivalent. In theory a 7-14mm f/1.4 should be possible with the same size as a fullframe 14-28mm f/2.8.
So far only Sigma has accomplished something close to this with the 18-35mm f/1.8. Lenses like that show the value of aps-c imo. Would be great if there were more like them.

It would be nice if Andrew could do some test of this (if has the time obviously), because he has access to both (Shogun and NX1).

Marco Tecno reacted to MattGrum in Lenses should have megapixel ratings
No they really shouldn't. A lens does not "resolve 6MP".
A lens renders a certain spatial frequency at a certain contrast ratio. It might take detail at 20 line pairs per millimeter and produce 70% contrast, detail at 50 line pairs per millimeter results in 30% contrast etc. This relationship is captured by the modulation transfer function (MTF), a quantity which varies according to the distance from the image centre, and the direction you measure in (sagital vs tangential). Manufacturers already publish MTF charts for their lenses, which is the equivalent of what you're suggesting, only much more meaningful. There are some differences in how these charts are computed (e.g. whether diffraction is included or not) so they're not always directly comparable, but they aren't anywhere near as misleading as trying to attach a single "megapixel" rating to lenses.
The other reason stating "this lens resolves 6MP" is meaningless is that the important thing in determining how you images will look is not the lens MTF itself, but the system MTF. The system MTF is the product of MTFs of each part, the lens the filter stack and the sensor (and image processing to an extent). Because it's a mathematical product (a lens delivering 80% contrast combined with an AA filter that delivers 95% contrast results in 76% contrast (0.8 x 0.95 x 100)) you can improve the system MTF by improving the MTF of any component in the system. Hence you "6MP" lens will give you more resolution on a 24MP body than on a 6MP body.

It's exactly this thinking that leads people to declare that there's no reason to have a 50MP sensor as there are no 50MP lenses in existence. Even the kit lens in your example produces some contrast in the centre of the image at 50MP.

Years ?! H265 support will probably arrive to most systems this summer.
Its not just about the image quality, the Nx1 seems like a higher quality camera all around, there would be no point in getting the GH4 at this time IMO.

Yep. I got the NX1 a week back and immediately happened to cover the LA MDA Muscle Walk. Lot of footage, but it was pretty simple/easy to transcode to ProRes on my Windows machine. I used FFmpeg, which was fast (the app was Rocky Mountains, check it out especially if you want to easily do H.265->ProRes on Windows). The nice thing with this workflow is that once you're done with your edit, you can delete all the large ProRes files and archive the H.265 files, which are really small. Besides, even with H.264 you'd want to transcode to something that's more edit friendly anyway, so it isn't that different with H.265.

The downsides on the NX1 are related to the new codec, those "problems" will soon go away, leaving me with a superior camera on the long run.

We should look into processor related improvements, since it has one of the best processors around, what I think the improvements can realistically be  :

Reduced Rolling Shutter Highter 4K Framerates 6.5K video Choice between 264 and 265 RAW HD True Log profile I still dont have my NX1, but will be buying mine in may, and boy, this camera is getting more and more amazing.

10 Bit would be nice. Real usable HD out the HDMI port Better HD quality 4k slomo at any speed is better then none Let us pick 264 or 265 or at lest HD in 264 so we do not have to trans code HD. Fix the audio better Focus peaking that you can assign to a button to turn on and off for when using a finder covering the back screen Much better low light focus for both stills and video Raw would be nice but that might be pushing it some for this camera and how much space would that eat up..ouch
Wish list for next version two card slots one for photos and one for video or over flow and much better cleaner low light performance, Two XLR audio inputs or a add on for that that ties right into the camera that is very small and lite.
    More lens lots of them

Honestly, just hoping for better RS in 4K, center 4K crop, higher bitrate options in 1080p, and a 1080p HDMI out option.

    Hi,
I recently bought the Samsung NX1. Mainly due to this website, so many thanks for that! This camera is a major upgrade for me. I had a bridgecamera of Sony which I really liked (DSC-HX100v). Having the NX1 now, I am really happy about my choice. I can make beautiful photos, but also beautiful movies during my holidays.
I have made a short movie with standard settings, just with the purpose of getting to know the NX1. It's made in The Netherlands, Hoek van holland:
Now I should play more with different settings. I think I should adjust the contrast. Please let me know your first opinion of the movie :-)

When you complain about new canon and Panasonic can we don't say negativity, just your point of view (that I agree with in this case). Same thing here, just exposing my point of view on this project.
FPS and spec is amazing, I just have the impression it is more a experimental product than else, and also the footage don't lie and on my side I found the 3 footage videos very very bad.
