I am not fine - I am out of my mind looney.  I want firmware updates every day, damn it.  Come on samsung, come on please.
You know what else isn't logical- life.  It's completely irrational and illogical.  Just like my other favorite thing - love.  I cannot say unsilly things to people - I am sorry Spock, I am.
Next time I will try harder with my forum reply.

Competition, not monopoly, is the source of inovation and progress, so I think it`s not a good thing for us that any company "owns" the world. Companies that have monopoly, eventually become lazy inovators and are just interested in taking too much of our money. Just look at Canon.

Skintone color perfection seems ridiculous to me anyway in regards to artistic filmmaking. Just watch any David Fincher, or Steven Soderbergh film and let me know how those skin tones look. Now the plastic look I can understand. Some cameras just have that effect, which is pretty unpleasant.

4k in camera downscale to hdmi like the gh4 would be nice to avoid transcoding

For me, I have no interest in buying a lens that is the full frame equivalent of f7.6 to f15.2 in terms of depth of field. Having said that, I'm sure people will be able to produce beautiful footage with it. But I'm not gonna limit myself with a lens like that.

What's drawn you to either of these to get you to this final decision? Sorry, i mean i assume you've done your homework and know you want one of these two, just asking. Is it the 4k? I could see why someone would decide that's necessary at this point, but if not, there are other really good options in and below that price range for low light, sensor size, colors, lens options etc. Though these are obviously great cameras for the money for more than just the 4k, and I'd think native h.265 editing and v-log are on their way to make both options better. Having less color grading experience and not needing auto focus (or OIS really), I'd go for the nx1 between these two and adapt manual nikon lenses

I uses both, for fast turnaround project or co-op with other people GH4 is the way to go, especially if you have same day edits for wedding, no time for transcoding!  NX1 I mainly use it for gimbal  (AF is awesome!)
GH4 can look cinematic if you know how to shoot and colour grade  (same for other DSLR type camera including NX1)

    http://esupport.sony.com/US/p/swu-download.pl?mdl=ILCE7M2&upd_id=10327&os_group_id=3

When Andrew reviewed the a7ii we were all on the same page about the IBIS being really underwhelming because it introduced a really uncanny microjitter that seemed to tilt and lightly stretch the image towards you and away from you, just saw this update. Anyone with the A7ii wanna install it and give it a go for us? Or maybe Andrew could revisit it?

Curious if Sony even noticed the IBIS wasn't very well received for filmmakers. If they addressed this that would mean they're listening, which would be rad.

Well for instance the lens option is not really a "con". Because since you have a super 35mm you have better wide angle options. And because Samsung pro lenses are really fantastic.
Since I have both of them I would tell you that I think the main difference - the one that makes you pick one camera rather than the other - is the "look". And personally the image I get from the NX1 I find it to be so much better than the GH4.

Also the battery runs forever, the videos are highly compressed (H265 takes little space on your hard drive) etc.

And yes H265, you have to transcode for now (but iffmpeg or rocky mountain converter are fast and very easy to use).
For me right now the debate is more about macroblocking and banding (NX1) vs noise (GH4). But considering that, I still always pick up my NX1 rather than my GH4.

At best, this might be a somewhat decent competitor vs FZ100 and RX10. But I'll be skeptical if they manage it, hope they do! Would be nice to see more competition in that market.

However, this certainly is no way at all the "GH4 competitor/killer" which was rumoured to come from Canon.

Thanks JFR. First, would you mind editing your post and deleting the link that I've posted and you quoted? I just wanted to show it to you, not have it here online forever. Thank you very much. If people are interested in my work, they could visit my website http://www.cinematicwedding.nl .
The video you posted is indeed 'the next level'. Great looking footage, editing, grading, etc. But that is nowhere near 'run & gun' like we wedding filmers do. These shots are prepared and prepared well. They used lights, production design, etc. I'm sure most shots are done in multiple takes. This is more like a short film. Although I get your point, this isn't really a fair comparison.
When I bought my GH3 2 years ago, there wasn't an alternative that could shoot 1080p at 50 or 60 fps. There is now. Of course I will be upgrading along the way, but the camera is not my limiting factor at the moment. Neither in my creativity, nor in what my clients think of my films. Quite the opposite, they are often amazed by the 'clear image' and slowmo. Unfortunately, my business is not high enough ranked in Google yet to make enough money to constantly upgrade all my gear. As you understand, the camera is only one of the tools one needs to buy to make good films.

And as much as I agree there are better camera's out there in terms of DR, colors and low light, the GH3 and GH4 are more than great alternatives. You are right that ISO 1600 is the maximum ISO one can use. We never go over it. But with a Speed Boosted f1.8 lens I've only once encountered a venue where it was slightly too dark and that was in the film that I posted here.
Anyway, will check out more work of Delivery Men. Cheers.

Are you serious? A GH3 + Speedbooster + Sigma 18-35 f1.8 (f1.2 with SB) is not bad in low light at all. Sure, there might be better low light camera's, but this isn't bad at all. Also, I need the 50p 1080p for slow mo and I simply like the current look I'm getting. At the time I invested in these camera's, C100's couldn't even do 50p/60p at 1080...
Many people don't take these Panasonic 'toys' seriously but I guess that's actually a good thing.
By the way I forgot to mention that I need this wide angle mainly for the 2nd camera, in this case the G6, to record a wide view of the ceremony.

... here's the latest video I DP'd, which makes use of plenty of slow-motion and other film 'cliches.' I love every minute of it.

We filmed it last fall, but the music wasn't mixed/mastered until very recently. Shot on FS-700. Canon lenses. ProRes through Ninja Blade, internal for Slo-mo (I hadn't yet discovered the magic of the 7Q). Some variation of a flat profile, but not quite S-log.

Don't just totally steal someone else's video though right? Be original SOMEHOW. I wouldn't be upset at a film that has tons going for it and then uses some slomo. These are all obviously tools, but people seriously use it as the only tool. If you upload something that's more than just a test video with the intention of "hehe, now people will know how talented.. my camera is," maybe you did something wrong

The problem with vimeo and youtube is that there're way too many "test". And the "real" stuff is buried under the tons of visual garbage. People don't use their gear to create but to "test"...unfortunately.

Slo-mo definitely effects the emotional side of us human beings and that is why it's over-used. I see several posts on a FB forum were they all want the NX1 to shoot 240fps, okay, yeah, that would be nice, but that camera needs a lot of other things before it needs that. People are obsessed with slo-mo.

Sigma 8-16mm if you want very wide.
Sigma 10-20mm if you want cheap wide angle (used less than $300)
Tokina 11-20mm f/2.8 (or the previous 11-16mm 2.8) if you want wide + big aperture
Samyang 12mm f/2.0 (comes in NX mount)
