Deadcode got a reaction from webrunner5 in $160 Smart Focal Reducer (Viltrox)
I think it does not degrade video quailty with consumer level gear. With every booster the sharpness is better with booster compared to normal adapter with the same lens. I dont understand what you mean with highlights/shadows, it's inappropiate question, this is not a 10$ plastic adaptert.
    You can see a comparison here where i tested the 5D2 + 50mm F1.4@1.4 vs A6300 + boosted 50 F1.4@1.0

Deadcode got a reaction from Mattias Burling in My thoughts on the Kipon Medium Format "Speedbooster"
Really nice video, thanks for sharing!
Please post some video footage with the adapter. I know you are not satisfied with the video quality of the original A7 after shooting such a good cameras like Red, BMC, A6300, but everyone is waiting for how the medium format video look!
Im really curious how the "look" differs compared to a bright FF lens. For example background blur rendering, 80mm F4 with Kipon speedbooster vs Minolta 50mm F1.7@2.8. Roughly same fov and DOF.

Go for cheap speedbooster if you dont afraid of manual focusing:
    http://www.zyoptics.net/product/zhongyi-lens-turbo-adapters-for-micro-four-thirds-cameras-m43/
Minolta MD / Canon FD mount is your best choice, and go for fast primes
Here are the lens you can choose from if you go with Minolta:
    http://minolta.eazypix.de/lenses/
If you want to go native m43 mount, it's much more expensive, but you can have AF and stabilisation
Your third option is to get a 4/3 to m43 adapter, and get cheap 4/3 lens. You can have AF + stab with this option, but good 4/3 are rare even on ebay

Deadcode got a reaction from Mattias Burling in Colorgrade This!
Dayraven: The way you like it, what is "natural" for you and show some "filmic grade, like Mattias above
In my mind: "dont burn the highlights" and most contrasty scenes i can find
Mattias: I'll tell you tomorrow 35Mbps H264 export, maybe next time im doing a littlebit higher bitrate export. At the tree scene it falls apart even without grade
I like your grade, but your footages usually have this look, so that was expected from you

That's a very good performance for a mobile phone. I like the popping colors. Try Cinema4K app with 200Mbps codec and flat profile.
The camera wobbing is very annoying, does Galaxy S7 use it's lens stabilisation when recording 4K or only at 1080p?

Deadcode got a reaction from IronFilm in Time to step up - Panasonic GH5 must go 6K Super 35mm to compete in 2016
Andrew, basically you want an FS5 with Panasonic logo on it. VLOG 2.0? What's the problem with the 1.0? Noise and 8bit. Noise is sensor based problem, and noone offers 10 bit internal recording at this price range. I think Panasonic will stick with the 20MP m4/3 sensor which is already developed. 6K fullreadout 4K is reasonable, 4K 60 fps is also possibile.
In the past 2-3 years Sony produced some awesome products and even Panasonic is too slow to do a reasonable reaction to them. I dont think GH5 can grow up to the expectations.

Deadcode got a reaction from teddoman in Shooting with a 4K pocket camera - the exceptional Panasonic LX100
That will be hard to decide...
    LX100 advantages:
-15 min rec limit over 5 min in 4K
    - Cheaper
    - Can attach filters (43mm) without magfilter adapter
    - Battery life is much better on LX
    RX100 advantages:
    - Great 1080p with high fps (LX100: 50fps, line skipped with moire and aliasing)
    - SLOG2, and great high iso performance in video mode
    - very small, pocketable
    - build in flash which is very effective (and smaller than the LX100's attached flash)
    - flipable LCD
Go for a used LX100 + a gimbal for the price of the RX100
Anyway i recorded this video with the LX100 and a Benro Monopod:

Just keep testing and posting, and really thx for the LUT!

+1 for FCPX, it is much faster in several cases, and i think it is really easy to learn
Davinci Resolve Lite + Final Cut Pro X is far enough to make magic

Deadcode got a reaction from Nick Hughes in ETTR: The Ultimate Exposure Technique?
I also tried to shoot ETTR with my LX100. I also had lower noise, and good colors, but the grading process is far longer, because i got different exposure on almost every scene. I dont think there is enough benefit to shoot ETTR with compressed codec, it's easy to clip highlights, and much more work for just a littlebit better results.
