I hope I didn't give the impression that in me denouncing the xc10 as a worthy camera I am in any shape or form using it to claim the NX1 is a more worthy piece of hardware. As an artist I understand image is subjective as much as others try to make image an objective thing based on a standard they've been taught at film school or on an online forum. I appreciate the suggestions made to improve the NX1's image, it would be better if we can get those suggestions to Samsung as it is useless to wish for features currently not available to us . Anyway all I am saying is specs wise the xc10 is lackluster, lack of interchangeable lens mount makes it less appealing to ME & possibly a lot of other people. Long story short I just want someone to post something be it a still or a video they've shot with the xc10 or some footage they've stumbled upon. SHOW why the image of the camera is worth making it to any list cause we can go back and forth about specs and possibilities and what if scenarios. Show me the money.

gonna try out the standard profile everything at default with -10 sharpening. No LUT's just good ol' curves. Really going to see how the NX1 holds up as its OWN film stock. The colors are pretty unique

i'll try out the cineform, I really REALLY appreciate the tip. I once heard on the net that cineform is about to be the new standard for mastering footage. Something about it being close to how they scan film ? Not sure but I hear its really really good ! Will report back with results

Can you snap stills in the a7rii apsc mode ? Combining that with a speedbooster could be a major cheat code for stills. Video it has its obvious benefit but a stop of extra light is awesome !

Praying for h.265 on vimeo so we can finally preserve film grain without the mushy compression .

How do you feel about it since you updated it ? I've stayed away from 120fps but I shot some 60fps stuff and it was soooo clean. I've learned to keep the dof as shallow as possible for the slow mo stuff. Overall shallow dof gives the cam less to compress = cleaner image. Wish we had a way to completely turn off NR and sharpening though. We need a hacker on payroll or a dope kickstarter lol

its a great camera, slept on but the NX1 is great nonetheless. People are starting to take notice. Personally I gravitated towards it because I find the rangefinder styled bodies are uncomfortable handheld im interested in seeing stuff from the blackmagic as well. Great company & great products. Praying they decide to jump into the dslr market or give us a dslr styled video centric canon 1dc killer !

you think its a better option to go with 16-235 with premiere ? I've been tempted to shoot 16-235 as I do see weird issues in the blacks when grading such as shades deeper than black (if that makes sense) popping up out of nowhere. You think 16-235 will help how premiere handles the nx1 footage ?

amen ! Once again im waiting for someone to humble me with their impressive canon xc10 footage. This GH3 footage you posted still goes harder than a lot of work out there....its damn near a benchmark in editing. I was always impressed by the GH line even though people dismissed it as a "small sensor that couldn't". When it comes to cameras show me the money(shots) then we can decide which new body deserves to be in our shopping cart :-) hope the "camera a,b,c looks like video" people are paying attention to what can be achieved in the hands of a skilled shooter.

I grade with scopes there is true detail in the black and my lenses were stopped down to f8 hence the sharpness. Also it was graded with LUTS. Impulz and delut's but I guess if the source was 8bit the colors will look 8 bit like the many other 8bit cameras like the a7 line. Plus even with a 10 bit camera you can only see those variation in colors on a 10 bit monitor. Everything is output to 8 bit color even from an 8bit source. Totally forgot to mention downscaling to 1080 from 4k gets you 444 color at 10 bit but lol ok copy. And I didn't say the xc10 sucks by comparison, I said it sucks in general. Specs wise it's very underpowered. They could have at least have allowed us interchangeable lenses but whatever. Would love to see your xc10 footage cuz the footage I've seen hasn't selled me on the camera at all.

i think the term "looks like video" is very subjective. I have an nx1 and my work looks very far from "video". Again I've shot and owned an a7s,gh4 and nx1 and it takes a bit of skill and finesse to get the image to look how you want it too...no matter the compression, in camera sharpening, dynamic range etc. I cant speak for everybody but my concern isn't with specs...sony loves inflating their specs and underdelivers in performance with some of their cameras but still people found a way to produce great footage while others managed to fuck it up and make an a7rii look like a DV camera. Im more into image quality than specs... If you say that canon looks like a 1dc i'll take your word for it...I haven't seen footage from it that comes remotely close to a 1dc style of rendering.

gotcha, does it work within adobe premiere ? I'm looking for something to export my timeline to prores. The downscaling 4k to 10bit feature looks cool though ! looking into this for sure thank you !

Exporting to pro res proxy was an essential step for me when uploading files to vimeo. It preserved grain and a bunch of other details. Since I have moved to a windows based platform I have either lost or simply cant find the option to export to prores from my adobe premiere pro cc timeline ! Does anyone know how or a reasonable alternative to prores exporting ? Thank you.

smart move ! Thinking about getting a fuji xt1 or olympus em1 for stills and the nx1 for video. Im really just after the APS-H look for stills and the occasional video

find me footage of this camera that isn't totally underwhelming and id change my mind. If specs dont contribute to the image quality id take a hacked gh2 over this anyday

I HAVE the NX1 so im not sure how that part of my statement is invalid and SLOG 2 is the same across the board with all their a7 line. But whatever dude you obviously didn't read what I wrote, happy hunting.
