  1. Hey is anyone else having trouble reaching infinity focus with adapted lenses ? My canon fd lenses on my novoflex refuse to reach infinity especially wide open

omg I am using a novoflex adapter and still seeing the softness, the lens cant reach infinity ! Unfortunately this is really pushing me towards an a7sii as I am not trying to sell my fd lens set and experiment with anything else and risk getting the same softness

Anyone having issues achieving infinity focus on samsung nx mount cameras ? Been noticing a lot of softness in my shots on my canon fd lenses with the samsung. Its like it focuses to a maximum of 10 ft especially wide open. I am using a novoflex so idk if its my adapter or the lens. I dont ever recall having this problem on my a7s with fd lenses

i checked out the links, good find dude ! Im going to look into the minolta md as leica is way out of budget...at least considering i'll only find em used and they're vintage. I've also been looking into zeiss zf line. I keep hearing about the famed zeiss microcontrast of their lenses. Im seeing that with the samsung nx1 contrasty lenses are a better fit. You can squeeze tons of detail into the 4k image without compression artifacts. The lower contrast and sharpness of older lenses can really show up in the ugliest of ways on this particular camera

I just need a sharp modern lens set optimize for high resolution sensors. I have a set of canon fd l primes that can get very sharp but they werent designed for digital (especially high pixel density) and in some situations its very obvious. I shoot everything from landscapes to portraiture its the contrast and resolution im after now
  6. no, why would you ? Native editing is supported
  7. yup thats definitely it ! For now im ok with settling for h.265 at 1080. Missing that h.264 performance tho

Thanks for the feedback ! Right now its between the zeiss milvus line and sigma art. i need a lens that can resolve up to 6k to use on my samsung nx1
  9. ehhhh...h.265 will make your new computer seem like it runs windows 95...I can't do anything other than 1080 work with these files...thank god 1080 is suffice for now

I've been wondering...are the nikkor ais lenses better than the canon fd L series ? Thinking of investing in old nikon primes
  11. Adobe JUST dropped support for h.265 and I'm loving it. Look for the update right now

Anyone familiar withthe sigma art line of lenses ?
  13. canon fd 14mm f2.8 L & a canon fd 24mm f1.4 L I like the look of this ! Very muted tone , what lenses did you use ?
  14. As promised here are some grabs. Sorry guys these are from the outdoor shots are from Gamma DR and the indoor Gamma C. I'll do a test with the vivid setting for the NX500 users. Anyway I find it better to use the contrasty Gamma C indoors and at night because realistically you do not need a lot of dynamic range in those kind of scenes. I don't need night sky or shadows that don't help build the story of my image to have details...all that is important is the midtones which they capture really well. In day time Gamma DR flattens the scene at the default contrast enough to have a balanced looking image...again I wouldn't use it at night and indoors. The point is to maximize not only the signal to noise ratio but optimizing the very few bits we have to spare with the 8 bit codec as effective as possible. Don't judge the final quality by the grabs here....they look VERY compressed in comparison.
  15. are you sure ? That never fixed the issue on the a7s and really defeats the purpose of picture profiles with wide dynamic range
  16. Does anyone knowif the a7rii and a7sii has the infamous sony blue color channel clipping issue ? U kno when you shoot LED lights in lets say a nightclub setting and you get that ugly clipping
  17. I mean...the point of making these adjustments in camera is so we have a better outcome in post. Check your vectorscope with any of these profiles at default settings and the red & blue are totally outside of the limits. As you know red and yellow are found in skin tones...not everything can be saved in post you do still introduce artifacting and an exaggeration of chrominance noise. You are not losing vital info by lowering saturation, contrast yeah but not saturation. Test it out yourself and let me know your findings. I always tweak in camera settings to optimize what I can achieve in post
  18. The more I tweak the saturation settings of the nx1 is the more gems I discover ! Started adjusting the hue slider as well as heavily desaturating the picture wizard profiles. Went down as low as -5 on vivid and adjusted the hue and wow the image really came alive. Contrast should be left alone its the negative saturation adjustments that really make you aware of the little nuances of the profiles and what makes them their own film stock ! 19. I love impulz luts...I only hate how it looks with sony cine profiles ! At this point I am pretty much only using filmconvert for the grain...it's far better than using overlays...to me at least. Has anyone used the visionspace luts from impulz pack ?
  20. looks good ! Guess the jury is out 0 contrast is the way to go. Now we should focus on saturation and the color sliders. Right now all my sliders are at 1.00, 1.00, 1.00.
  21. i actually didn't like the grade of that video. -10 contrast flattens the image to the point of tonality being smushed together its weird and plasticky. BUT I see he was going for like a 16mm film effect so I guess it worked. I prefer the look of his NX1 test video. Im tired of trying to make digital footage look analog. Need to start accepting the aesthetic these cams give and run with it lol
