@SR exactly why I picked it up ! Small, discreet, great lens and great image quality. People get hung up on the fact that its a small sensor and its super 16mm. Idc it worked just fine for my needs as you can see in the video I posted
-
how is it at 3200 ? All I need is usable 3200 and a speedbooster !
-
Did a test of the Tiffen Ultra Contrast and Gamma C. I love the results My guide is just about done with my nx1 settings and grading workflows.
-
yeah people really REALLY hate the RX10ii lol. I was going to sell it till I started playing with it more and it became my go to camera for events and run & gun situations. For one I don't shoot in SLOG...I get way better results with the neutral creative style with little to no noise under 800. I am going to throw a tiffen ultra contrast filter to boost the deep shadows that are prone to macro blocking and noise..that should solve the problem. @Cinegain im gonna look into that Panasonic camera you mentioned, they've been on a roll lately

I recently picked up a Sony RX10ii as an alternative to the Canon XC10 and I am in love. I hate using zoom lenses and the idea of a built in lens was off putting but in practice it proved to be very versatile especially with the optical stabilization. This made me wonder how come manufacturers have not consider making high end bridge cameras. My dream camera would be like the RX10 or Canon XC10 with a 35-85mm f1.4 equivalent lens with IBIS,4K & 1080p 120 all with full pixel readout. The sensor size would either be super 16mm or super 35mm. Has anyone else shot with these type of cameras and would like to see more like them for filmmaking ?
-
Is the 4K full pixel readout ? I thought fuji had a game changer on their hands but IBIS at 4K is crazy. Bigger deal to me than the 422 10 bit internal from the GH5 since I shoot most of my stuff handheld. This is incredible DSLR filmmaking is exploding...next thing we know apple announces a cam ??
-
Yeah dude the more I shoot with it the more I learn about it. Im slowly getting out of the habit of constantly upgrading and leaving things I KNOW work for me. Camera manufacturers are making cameras faster than ever with very minor upgrades in IQ so its not worth leaving. 422 10bit and a versatile lens mount is the only reason I am considering a GH5 because that is a big leap & is a great alternative to shooting externally. As far as the NX1 lasting 10 years I can see that...especially since watching things in 4K isn't as established as 1080p
-
@Kisaha with you on that one. Keeping a dead system will make you lose sleep LOL. Sucks that we have to wait so long for the GH5 and the a99 but I currently get so much out of the NX1 shooting under 1600 its hard to justify selling it. I have decided to keep my nx1 and use it til it breaks because the benefits of the hack are incredible for the content I shoot & the look of the sensor is pretty unique. You might wanna wait for the gh5 imo
-
Im definitely waiting for the gh5 but for now im going to get as much as I can out the nx1. Im still learning more about it & hacked it should be able to compete with the recently announced cameras
-
I hope they upload this to vimeo. Some of the sharpening artifacts on the wide shots look terrible on youtube
-
im sure it doesn't look anything like a RED but it looks good nonetheless LOL
-
that would be cool ! I have high hopes for Fuji ! How do you like the xt2 so far ? @Lothar
-
I cant wait for your test @Andrew Reid ! Im excited to see how the Fuji compares to the other options on the market. Right now I feel like the a6300 & NX1 are the best s35 options out. Im hoping the fuji blows em both out the water especially with the speedbooster
-
I export to cineform at 1440p. The files are huge but holds grain and detail very well on vimeo
-
gamma c with -5 sharpness and filmconvert
-
Im starting to lose interest in the Fuji. Its been out and I see no real video coverage
-
Funny enough the consumer can care less about what we are talking about here. Grain ? No grain ? It doesn't really matter, art is subjective. You can't dictate what tools people want to use for their artistic expression. I hear you though, the movie you seen probably looked great to you without the grain. Thats cool you can adopt that style for your work but for the rest of us who enjoy the look of film grain we WILL use film grain. Also as many have mentioned before film grain does benefit our compressed 8bit footage and is essential to our post production workflow.

Surprisingly rolling shutter was never an issue for me..I never shoot anything tighter than an 85mm. Ive even seen a couple of movies that had some crazy rolling shutter in some scenes i.e. green inferno i guess its just something we are going to have to accept as the norm
-
@tigerbengal no worries, I dont care about weight unless we are talking the damn near 2 pound zeiss milvus 85mm lol. Is your 35mm f1.4 in good condition ? My 28mm is in great condition PM me please
-
@Cinegain lmao and im sure there's a bridge Ebrahim has up for sale as well seriously though I love the hollywood and the only thing that could replace it is the contax zeiss 35 f1.4. Like you said the longer focal lengths have that zeiss although you can get it at close focus distances on the 28
-
@TheRenaissanceMan lmao ! It looks fine its the focal length. I find myself not wanting to go wider than a 50-53mm equivalent on apsc, thats just been my style lately
-
@Parker yeah I find focus by wire to be extremely annoying but im way too tempted by DIS + Optical Stabilization ! I wish it opened up to f1.8 but hey, cant have it all. Gonna wait for the price to drop on the 16-50s :-D
-
@ricardo_sousa11 wow looks good man !!! guess the samsung 16-50 is better than the sigma after all
-
does anyone own the contax zeiss 35mm f1.4 and would like to trade it for a contax zeiss 28mm f2 ?
