  1. I expose clog for the midtones. I'll shoot with skintone slightly beneath 100 zebras and pull back the image in post. The color fidelity is extremely good when I expose this way...I am currently trying shooting with wide dr though...
  2. Some people do it but I do not recommend stacking filters. You can get some weird sensor reflections when you stack filters
  3. Yeah im in LA just for a gig but ill be back on the 17th. Haven't tried the digicon but I hear good things about em. The tiffen ultracons are great too! I wish there was an option to disable NR but it seems every camera manufacturer throws it in. I deleted hella footage shot at 3200. Its noticeable on handheld footage to me at least. Just hope my client doesn't notice it ?
  4. You think the Olympus will hold up to the xt2 ? Im really hoping so @Mattias Burling
  5. Yeah this is in ny! I live here you know :-D This was with a black satin though. Works well with CLOG as it smooths the shadow transitions and fine detail...that usually helps the image compress better. Im gonna try using a heavier grade soon since this grade of filter was so light
  6. Most of the info eebrahim spoke as "truth" were bullshit. It would be a shame if people took his word for this stuff before they tested it out. I always found with LOG i can push an image a stop and even 2 stops in slog and get great results. Just pay attention to what you want to expose for. If you want to make sure the subject has great skin raise the exposure just under the clipping point and pull the image back in post. At that point the noise that would plague the midtones is gone cause the image was exposed far beyond the noise floor. Add color noise or filmconvert grain if you are worried about the precious 2 bits you could have lost in the shadow area that provides the least amount of data to begin with. Im gonna shoot my whole LA trip in CLOG and show you my results @mercer
  7. @mercer i think it was tetrachrome. I tried using a koji advance and deluts combo and it sucked, the impulz c300 profiles work ! Btw which is closer to the image of the xc10 ? The c100 or c300 ?
  8. Guys I apologize for speaking so brashly. I looked for some clips I had that I white balanced with a grey card before shooting and that footage shined ! Plus I choose a different LUT this time. Visioncolor luts seem to work the best. Most of my shots were exposed for the midtones and I "pulled" the exposure in post while the subway shots were underexposed and "pushed" a stop. Im less worried about the slow aperture now that I know I can push the image like that in post. The motion cadence is beautiful and it sharpens really well in post. The diffusion filter im using with this thing works well with the lens & sensor combo.

@TheRenaissanceMan you should definitely be good with the SLR magic setup, they make some really good glass
  10. @mercer im gonna post some shots when the vid is finished rendering. My white balance was way off in some of these shots. I'll take another shot at it with wide dr instead of clog.
  11. @mercer ive been shooting in 4k. Im not gonna rule it out just yet cause the handling and IS is absolutely incredible. Im gonna stay away from the LOG mode and shoot with one of the rec709 profiles...im not that great at exposing LOG images anyway ?
  12. @Amook whats your secret? That clog footage looks amazing ?
  13. That just about summed it up. Lmao I will wrestle with it some more Its not the latitude thats killing me its the lens. The cam handles beautifully but f5.6 is super slow. I end up using it like a 28 2.8 prime. Im gonna try eos standard and see if that works better for me cause my clog footage looks terrible. Hey maybe im to blame for that
  14. shooting with the xc10 is becoming a disaster. The variable aperture is madenning...the controls get in your way...and the list goes on. More than likely im selling mine when I come back from my gig in LA unless this thing magically grows on me. C-LOG is a joke

I tried mixing, the slr magic lenses are always warmer and softer. The voigts give a real cool rendering

The 17.5 and 42.5 are the sharpest ones. If i can only have one lens on a m43 body it would be the 17.5
  17. I tested the 4k which was phenomenal. Im testing the picture profiles, I dont wanna use c-log or wide dr. I need to figureout which profile displays the least amount of noise & also how the in camera sharpness affects the image.
  18. sooooo I just got the xc10. Still getting the hang of it but there is some potential in the image... the variable aperture is driving me crazy but I think im gonna just use the xc10 like its a 24mm 2.8 prime
  19. Has anyone tried to use a teleconverter, wide angle adapter or an anamorphic lens with the xc10 ?
  20. Damn this just sold me on the xc10 The amount of times I heard shallow dof in this thread...you would think its the only storytelling technique ??. I can assure you can get nice DOF with even a 1" sensor
  21. the image quality is astounding. wow ! Funny I don't see the weird frame skipping thing that were in other videos, maybe there is a setting that causes that judder ?
  22. @Marco Tecno yeah ! I truly believe that the in camera sharpening has something to do with how the nx1 renders detail throughout the iso range. I will test shooting at the default level of sharpening with master pedestal all the way up and see what happens. I have a strong feeling the noise reduction algorithim and the in camera sharpening work hand in hand
  23. No clue! 1600 is the red zone for me I only go that high if I really have too. 100-800 iso is ideal for me
