    Suuuure.
    Canon 1D X II has 4K60. Doesn't overheat.

But that's actually not true - other cameras such as the Panasonic S1H record oversampled 10bit 4:2:2 Full Frame 4K  without any thermal issues.
You basically got three options now:
    1) Sony A7iii: oversampled 4K, but only 8bit, passive cooling
    2) Panasonic: oversampled 4K, 10bit, with active cooling
    3) Canon: 4k 10bit, but only with line-skipping/binning if you want continuous recording, passive cooling + "turbo" or "burst" modes with overheating issues

I'm not accusing Canon of being lazy I just want them to release a product I can rely on to get me through a day of filming. Instead of trying to overtake everybody else with something unreliable why not just play catch up 1st and give us something with solid 4k 10 bit that will work in every mode, and let their AF and nice colour do the talking to the zillions of Canon lens owners who will buy whatever they release anyway
I hope as you say this isn't the new norm with cameras overheating as they all try and out do each other. That would suck

Same overheating and rolling shutter problems to the 4 years old $1200 Sony A6300.

Well, of course Canon finds a way to screw things up, wouldn't be Canon otherwise

Why wouldn't they simply implement active cooling? Even the S1H does

Yup,...that heat has to go somewhere. Without a fan, how else were they supposed to move it out of the body? Some people claimed that Canon developed some kind of new magic metal heat pipe tied to an invisible heat system. To most of us here, this was absolutely expected. Lumix did the right thing buy using a REAL active cooling system for unlimited 6k recording.
Something else. Canon and Sony can allow their sensors to run hot. But, hot sensors are NOISY sensors. More heat causes more noise. Cool sensors are cleaner sensors. This is why most large sensor camcorders have fans. To keep their hot sensors running cooler and cleaner.
Major screw up Canon. Let's see how that R6 runs.

How can anybody trust it for paid work with this problem?
    It is unworkable on set.
Imagine telling the entire crew and actors to go and sit down with a cup of tea for 20 minutes while the camera cools off?
No wonder Canon does not consider the EOS R5 specs to cannibalise the Cinema EOS series.

D is the digital cinema resolution of 8K (like 4096 x 2160 is for DCI 4K)
U is the TV standard like Ultra HD

@dgvro Resolve can't use AMD hardware acceleration at all on Windows. It just isn't implemented, according to blackmagic forum posts from 2019. So you're stuck with CPU decoding if you're on a Windows system.

So to follow up on that whooping 35 minute short film from Sigma, I just found that they'd released a Behind-the-Scenes video highlighting the crew's experience using the FP for the project and what their thoughts on it were!

Gotta say, if Sigma continue to listen to the feedback they're getting on this camera and keep that in mind moving forward, I cannot wait to see what Sigma's followup camera to the FP will be like. They've got a monster of a camera on their hands, just iron out some quirks here and there and the next model will be insane.

Yes but it still looks amazing and is half the price of the 6K S1H, which is the only one to do the full 6K RAW output.
To say it has line skipping artefacts is a big exaggeration in my opinion.
    The image is very nice.
I am curious to see if the Super 35mm mode works in ProRes RAW / BRAW.
Something else Sigma could look at in the future is a 1.3x crop mode for native DCI 4K RAW without the downsampling.

Man, this new firmware update is MASSIVE. Definitely breaths a ton of new life into the FP and fixes a few of the issues that Caleb mentioned in his video!
However, I feel it's worth noting that Sigma confirmed in a new interview with one of the sites that can't be linked here that they were ultimately unable to create a proper LOG/flat profile for the FP due to technical limitations... So apparently that's not coming any time soon for the camera. Not the end of the world, as I'd wager most filmmakers buying this camera are investing in it for the various RAW codecs it can provide internally and externally. Hopefully though the next model in the FP lineup fixes that issue and provides a LOG profile at launch.
In cheerier news though, Sigma just released a whopping 35 minute long narrative short film shot entirely on the FP! Unsurprisingly, it looks pretty great.

Very bad news indeed. All their best engineers will probably be leaving. What is their loss, may end up being a big gain for other camera manufacturers including Panasonic.
As for the decision to sell to JIP. Incredibly unimaginative.
There are a lot of other players who could have turned around the Olympus camera division. Chinese companies, American, maybe even Sigma or Samsung could have been interested in the assets and staff.
Whereas who wants to work for JIP?
The E-1X and E-M1 III will go down in history as the final Olympus cameras. If you buy one now, it's probably a good time to do so as they probably won't be manufactured for much longer.

Jip is not a company that will continue building cameras or lenses - they buy up brands like "Vaio" from Sony to sublicense them for cheap no-name products.
The brand Olympus will stay with Olympus for the (now) core business of medical equipment.
Olympus imaging brands such as OM-D, Zuiko and Pen will soon appear on smartphones, selfie sticks and the like, ending up like Polaroid and Rollei did before.
Olympus' camera technology is now history, like Yashica/Contax in the past.

    but with competent IBIS.
Not sure why you would buy this over ZV-1 if it doesn’t have 10-bit vlogl. EM5III seems like a better buy.
