GH5 Prototype

Hi Neumann, if you divide the E M1 II total pixel count by GH5 number, then multiply it by 10, do you get result of 10?

I suggest you check the aspect ratio of 6000 x 3000, which is indeed 18MP but heavily letter boxed compared to what is needed for 3:2 or :4:3 photography.
In actual fact you will need to go to at least 24MP in total for 6K video AND 3:2 photos.
Very few photographers will be ok with a 2:1 aspect ratio! So I find it highly unlikey the sensor will be a total of 6000 x 3000 in such a wide aspect ratio as it is also sold Panasonic's flagship 4:3 stills camera! If take the Panasonic 6K photo press release info literally you will be mislead as to the true nature of the sensor and megapixel count.
Thats what I thought as well, this text is not logical at all, if 6K Photo mode is "Approx.6000 x 3000 effective pixel count" then it cannot be 4:3 or 3:2 as they write...

Pansonic write in their website:
"6K PHOTO" is a high speed burst shooting function that cuts a still image out of a 4:3 or 3:2 video footage with 18-megapixel
(Approx.6000 x 3000 effective pixel count) that 6K image manages.
The name '6K PHOTO' is tentative. So, do you understand from that the senser has 6000 pixels width?

Blacks. I don't see what you are talking about, maybe you have problem with your monitor...
I have downloaded the 1.2GB file and saw no problem lifting shadows and getting details.

Perhaps, but with the great image stabilization I do wish it preserved more shadow detail.
Where did you see that? You can download and try yourself from here:

Well, we all know it will be cleaner than GH4, as we see with the G85.

E-M1 II for video. It's one thing making a creative choice to crush the blacks, but all I see from this camera is next to no shadow detail. I personally like to have options. Not always does crushed blacks help to drive the story.
Where did you see crushed E M1 II blacks?

Even though Panasonic newer kit lenses are sharp, the color is so boring... generaly no lens character at all.

Its realy ashame that the 16-55 does not have IS. We would have forgiven Fuji for not putting ibis in the camera...

The camera records only 720p while using the Android app?

As for rolling shutter, it's about 14ms on the G85 in 4K and certainly the E-M1 II is an improvement but it won't usually be noticeable on 95% of shots.
G85 RS is similar to G7, no way 14ms. And you can see it.

no emoji, so I assume you're not being sarcastic... more realistically, how about taking the actual price of my gimbal ($650) and throwing in the camera body for free, and you've got yourself a GX80.
These are two different things: yes, the gimbel will be better in performance, but you cannot compare the mobility the internal ibis gives you. You just through the camra in the bag, not carrying anything more and still able to get some beautiful movements.
Well, it is quiet early with this camera, first sample show better colours than Sony - especially skin tones. You have everything you need for one man operation - like headphones out, full flipped touch screen, not having to worry about rolling shutter etc. That is a good start point.
-
jonpais, its very simple: take your new camera - the X-T2, add to it "half a gimble" 400$ worth (that how I rate the ibis in the Olympus) and you got the math for the E M1 II price...

I am trying to find out if IBIS on the A6500 is significantly better than the A7S II, so far I feel it is a bit better but nothing dramatic
Indeed a bit better, far from the Olympus / Panasonic latest ibis. Does not give you smooth enough walking effect.

If I want to adjust my exposure the same way as in taking photos using shutter priority or aperture priority I would like to see the changing automatic value too. It would be very difficult to take photos with A or with auto iso if the camera is not showing all the exposure numbers.
-
Yes, we use sometimes auto exposure in stills, so what? It is not relevant to video, your last sentence just show that you need to learn the basics of video shooting.

A rolling shutter test (a bit rough test...):
ISO 6400

This is a double overhead camshaft camera...
Panasonic G85 review - is there any need to get an Olympus E-M1 Mark II for video?

You have to test both without iDynamic for true comparison.
