  1. With digital grading being so accessible these days, do lenses still play that big a part? I can understand for certain things like bokeh, but things like colour, contrast and even geometric distortion can be tweaked and changed, right?
  2. Given the effort put into creating the Cinema EOS line, and the profit margins involved, I'm certain you won't be far from wrong.
  3. It's easy to figure out - as long as it's for a 35mm film camera it'll work. If it's for an APS DSLR you'll need to look around as some lenses have ranges that might work. If it's for mirrorless digital cameras then it's a no.
  4. Lowepro have discontinued their Snap Top AW, haven't they? That's what I use, but I think I might need a replacement soon. *sigh*
  5. Import charges are YOUR country's taxes and duties. The eBay global shipping program was charging some ridiculously low prices for certain things when I checked. I guess the lowest bidder thing doesn't always work out.
  6. It's going to be a bit like all those concept cars from Jaguar, isn't it? Still, some of that tech filtering down to the next generation of sensors would be good. If anything this means even faster focus, even with contrast detection.
  7. Easier said than done. If the shoe were on the other foot I'd be screaming bloody murder.
  8. It's end-2014, are we still making jokes on the Windows 98 kernel?
  9. Good stills, not great video. The D600 is better than m43 in stills but you need to pair it up accordingly. If your Tokina is what I'm thinking of (SV or orange ring version), below ISO 3200 my GH3 and its 12-35/2.8 will produce better images.
  10. Turn off IS, your IS motor/circuitry is malfunctioning. Send the lens in as soon as you can afford to.
  11. From what I've seen, the A7S has an even bigger advantage in video. While in stills it's barely a stop (I'd go with half), video compared to its peers is as high as 2. Shows how important a good internal compression engine is.
  12. Most people that don't like the GH4 I find don't grade or don't know how to grade. Then buy a Speedbooster and use nothing but 35mm format lenses. Why is a different thing; I never understood why filmmakers went ga-ga over a format that's used by still photographers.
  13. Ah yes, that's DPI scaling, but that's separate from Windows actually supporting the resolution.
  14. No, Windows 7 already can support just about anything as long as the video card and drivers allow for it.
  15. This is likely to be MST, so you'll be using two outputs to the one monitor.
  16. Which Camera Profile are you using in Lightroom? Are you using at least LR4?
  17. I recently acquired a Titan. Holy smokes. I'd agree that pairing a 5K panel with that would be something!
  18. That's really not surprising: Sony weren't going to pull out a sensor that much better than the competition. It also shows how much improvement there is left in the video department of these cameras.
  19. Shot for ages on a Nikon, using the GH3 no, no issue with colours.
  20. They are different lenses - the ZF lenses are made by Cosina and are very modern designs. Expensive but good.

    24p VS 25p

And grading makes a difference too! Poorly graded 24p is still an eyesore.
  22. Oh wow, even in that Vimeo thumbnail, I can see purple fringing. Is that the 50/1.8 AIS?
  23. Unlikely, since iMacs use mobile GPUs, not desktop GPUs.
  24. My experience is that straps are a freaking pain for video work. They always get in the way.
